So I recently moved to benicia and the first thing I always look for is a good chinese restaurant. My favorite place is another szechwan restaurant in vallejo but it was closed for a while during remodeling so I decided to try this place out. Not bad. I ordered several things, but the one dish that stood out to me was the Hunan chicken. I always order the hunan chicken because it tends to be my favorite dish. Every restaurant has their slight variations on it but this one cooked it with whole fried chicken wings. This was a bit of a turn off for me since I am used to diced chicken, sometimes fried but mostly not. Despite this, the flavors were good. My girlfriend ordered the mandatory honey walnut prawns, which is what she judges a new restaurant by. They came out super hot and delicious but the batter was a little TOO thick for my taste and a little TOO much sauce on the shrimp... but again, good flavors. We also ordered the chow fun. I forget what type, but I think it was beef and my girlfriend specified she wanted it dry (aka not super saucy). This was also delicious and flavorful. the vegetables were still crispy and not overcooked and the meat wasnt overly chewy. the noodles had good flavor although they were a clumped together a little too much in my opinion. We had the hot and sour soup as well because other people said that it was the best in the area. someone else mentioned in their review here that it is the best also. It was not bad but I prefer my spot in vallejo. However, this soup falls in second place to every soup I have ever tasted... and I have had a lot of hot and sour soup in my time. The place where they shine the most is their lunch specials. I had no food for work one day so I ordered their pork in garlic sauce. For only 6.25 (as of early 2012) I got two fried wontons, a salad, choice of chow mein, fried rice or steamed rice and the pork in garlic sauce. i decided to go with the chow mein and I got so much chow mein I ate it for lunch and dinner. The meal was HUGE! all in all i would not mind going back. it could use a bit of a facelift on the inside as the decor is a little drab. The appetizers are 5-10 bucks, while soups are around 6. The meat dishes range from 8-10 and veggie dishes are 7. I havent tried the lunch buffet yet but that is next on my list of things to do.

Its OK. Its not bad. Its not good. Its your typical American Chinese food that you can find in Anytown, USA. Theres nothing special about this place. If you like the typical Chinese food that you see everywhere, this will be it. I dont have a desire to revisit this if I can just get it anywhere else.

My family has been coming to this wonderful little jewel in Benicia for years. They have great classic Chinese food and its always consistent and the family is very friendly. No matter how far I move to when Im close to Benicia I will always stop to eat at Szechwan house.

The food was lovely but the waiter very obviously hated us. We went late in the evening so go earlier than 8 pm, even though they dont close until 10. We couldnt have gotten out of there fast enough.

Fresh tasty and filling. The wor won ton soup was awesome! The salt and pepper spare ribs were meaty and tasty. I recommend the pot stickers.

Food was okay and a little more pricy than expected. It was hot inside like it had no ac or it was not on.
