Food was right below average to me. Pretty pricy. Service sucked. Really loud. Beautiful inside. Rundown or old looking for outside. Host was friendly. No one else smiled or had etiquette or courtesy. Server forgot beer, no apologies. Servers & busers all seemed unhappy. Ive only been here twice. I honestly dont really like the crab either since Im comparing it to other places. When its slow youll probably get better service, thats what happened the first time. Oh, another plus was we were in & out of theres pretty fast. You really dont want to stay longer unless you like frantic, loud crowds of people that are all over the place. I wouldnt plan on coming here again.

At the moment of eating, it was amazing. Very tasty, great service, nice atmosphere. We ordered the pork shoulder and a tofu veggie soup. Then when we got home we were super dehydrated and had a crazy msg hangover the following day. That means dizziness, more dehydration, an elevated heart-rate and the inability to sleep comfortably and think straight. I want to give this place 5 stars bc it was so well-cooked. But the amount of msg (or whatever aftereffects of the food that night) made us sad. The only thing wrong was the msg.

I wish i could give China Villiage restaurant a negative star, they are the worst restaurant I ever see! They put things in the food for a special taste, but that is poison! Go talk to their previous chef, he knows behind the scene. many people got diaria afterward. The owner of this restaurant is really bad, he is a blood sucker! before you go to this restaurant, be sure to prepare yourself a coffin

One of the few authentic and reasonably priced Chinese restaurants around Berkeley area. Some dishes tend to be on the heavy/salty side, but the overall taste leaves lasting impressions. Im from Hunan (next to Sichuan, this restaurants cuisine style), and I still keep coming back here. Love: - great tasting dishes - authenticity - consistency - price Not so much: - noise - waiting time

Excellent Szechuan fare. Had the braised duck - two large meaty pieces with 6 pieces of Bok Choy. It was excellent. Also tried the Dan Dan Noodle which is my go to noodle soup. Good flavor but a little more meat would not be a bad thing. Feeling adventurous so had the tendon and tripe cold dish. A little spicy for me but not bad. Service is great. Will definitely be back.

My favorite Chinese food in Berkeley. A huge selection from Szechuan and northern dishes that are hard to find elsewhere to nicely done Chinese/American favorites. And also a range from cheap, really tasty noodle lunches to fancy banquet dishes. A great place to take people with varied tastes and expectations.

Amazing! Best Sichuan style food Ive ever had... and I dont say that lightly. Ive lived in NYC for 10 years, lived in London, traveled extensively and this is the best. Very fresh food. Even the Americanized dish we ordered (esame shrimp) was great. Service was good too. All around a 5 out of 5!!

In a surprising twist, there is a decent bar program here. Cocktails with an asian twist -- some hit some miss -- definitely worth a try. Food is fantastic and service is great. Youll end up over ordering food, but youll still want to eat it all. Roasted duck and roasted pig dishes are delicious.

Overall it was an okay experience. Dim sum left something to be desired. Some dishes can be a bit bland, and others are just standard Chinese food dishes without much flair. Still, it is a good spot for a quick fix if you are in the mood. Prices are decent

Prices are reasonable. Food is Sichuan style, so expect hot and spicy in addition to tongue numbing flavors. The intensity of Sichuan flavors is watered down a lot though. Service is your average Chinese restaurant quality.

The food here is ok. But theres a guy who is super annoying. I cancelled one dessert before I finished my main dish but he told me the dessert was being cooked already. And it took twenty mins for a super easy dish. He sucks.

If you like authentic Spicy Chinese Restaurant, heres the place to go. If you are afraid of getting your tongue all numb from the goodness, maybe past on this one. This is really the restaurant for those who LOVE spicy food.

Half Peking duck? This would be named as a quarter roasted duck on a Chinese takeout restaurant. Not the kind of food I was expecting. Very disappointed and wont come again. BTW, service isnt worth more than 10% of tip.

Good Szechuan food. The prawn were excellent with a heavy load of numbing spice, albeit a little sparing on the number of prawn. The broccoli was a disappointment. Service was good, interior was fine, price was fine.

Absolutely delicious. Came here with a group of friends on a Friday night. We didnt make a reservation but they were able to squeeze us in. Everything we ordered was fantastic and tasty. Highly recommend!

Nicest Chinese food in town. The food is a good mix of traditional, experimental, and American style Chinese food. Elegant interior, clean, good quality ingredients, polite service, not too slow.

I have been here twice on the weekends and have enjoyed it. It can get busy. Each dish has been tasty, and I would come back again. I would recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.

As good a Chinese experience as I have ever had. Szechuan spicy food at its best. Bright dining room with plenty of room between tables. Come early, it fills up every night of the week.

Food is delicious. Waitstaff can be a bit pushy and the prices are rather high, but everything is fresh and interesting. Be adventurous -- they have a massive menu selection.

An unusual array of Chinese specialties beyond the familiar is offered. Many East Asian customers when I went for lunch. I tried to Shan Dong chicken-it was exquisite.

Our favorite Sezhuan restaurant. Everything on the menu is great and so is the service. Fabulous parking and very clean. Try the seafood noodle soup, our favorite.

A bit of a sleeper on Solano in its plain wrapper of a building, but inside they do it up right. Not your average Chinese restaurant. Love this place

One of my favorite restaurants in the Bay. Most plates are perfectly executed with complex flavors from simple ingredients.

Best Sichuan food in the East Bay. Worth a trip across the bridge. Try the twice-cooked pork or the ma po tofu with crab.

Really good sit-down Chinese food, with a really diverse selection between novice-friendly to a little more esoteric.

Good spicy food, though Im not an expert in Szechuan cuisine. Better than usual cuisine at a Chinese restaurant.
