I have to say it makes me very sad to be writing this review. This is a place that Ive gone to at least 3 times a month for the last 2 years. The chicken fried steak with gravy is probably the best in Phoenix. My husband and I work hard for our money and take service very seriously. When I visited this restaurant about a month ago the same way Ive done countless times before between taking out and dining in, There were only 3 customers in the restaurant and I could see maybe 5 employees. there were two people in the kitchen a waitress a lady vacuuming and a gentleman thats helped me many many times. The waitress came to my table and asked my husband and I what we would like to drink and that our server will be right with us. The woman who was vacuuming came to the table and I have to take our order she was extremely unfamiliar with the menu I asked for the country fried steak with gravy as I have 100 times before. She looked at me and shook her head No. Then she continued to say she didnt understand I was alarmed at this because like I said Ive ordered this 100 times. I asked if she would have the other waitress come over because maybe she was more familiar with the menu. The Girl with a very hefty attitude proceeded to explain to me and my husband that we didnt know how to order what we were looking for.( just for the record let me say since the first time Ive been there Ive never looked at the menu and have ordered the same thing). I was a little off put by her attitude but ordered what I assumed was what I had ordered a hundred times prior then a gentleman server that I recognized walked into the room so I called him to the table and after asking him if he remembered my husband and I he said yes and I said Im looking to order the country fried steak like always did I order the right thing because at this point I was concerned I wasnt getting the correct item. He very kindly explain to me what may have been a miscommunication I accepted that. Both the women servers disappeared to the kitchen until our food was ready ... when the food came out the eggs were clearly under done which I had ordered over medium. The woman who took our order who didnt seem to understand what I was saying to her asked my husband and I if we would like napkins I said yes and she immediately went back to vacuuming then paused to start speaking to another Spanish speaking customer completely ignoring the request for napkins that she had offered in the first place I would have ignored this but I needed to ask her for a place to put my under cooked eggs on. At this point my eggs were under done and the service was off feeling extremely uncomfortable I asked the 1st server to come back to the table to explain what was going on she immediately started to argue with me and tell me that my issue was that the woman taking my order didnt speak English. What a shock my issue was that a server at this restaurant wasnt knowledgeable with the menu and when she asked me if I wanted a napkin and I said yes she completely ignored me and walked away.... at this point the other server was yelling at our table and I was so uncomfortable I wanted to leave she continued to tell me that she was understaffed!! There were three customers in the restaurant!!! For people who work hard for their money and choose where to spend it the customer service was appalling especially because I work in customer service in the Arcadia neighborhood I used to recommend this restaurant to everyone I came in contact with and now I cant this was beyond disappointing... I wasnt going to say anything but when I looked to see if other people have had similar experiences I realize that the owner reads these and I hope you do because this was a shame... after the waitress had yelled at me for a while I saw the gentleman server again I called him to the table after telling the woman I did not want to speak with her anymore. I must say I wish I knew his name because he was very kind an apologetic unfortunately it just wasnt enough to save the table...

Truely Satisfying! I had been intending to have breakfast here for months, and today I finally did. I was totally pleased with every aspect of my visit. The restaurant itself is inviting, and I loved the table I chose in the corner by the window. It was bright and sunny. Almost immediately after I seated myself one of the servers brought me a menu and let me know that Anne would be my server, and that she would be right with me. Anne came to my table with a smile on her face, and I ordered coffee and asked for a few minutes to study the menu. I really didnt need much time since I had studied the menu online, and so when she returned with my coffee I went ahead and ordered the Original Chicken Fried Steak and substituted a biscuit for the toast.. The coffee was actually good, not the usual afterthought that many restaurants serve. When my meal came, there was so much food that I literally didnt know where to start, so I took my time buttering my biscuit which I figured was as good a place to begin as any. Of all of the biscuits Ive had in restaurants over the years, this was far and away THE BEST. It was like a really good home made biscuit, and begged to be followed by a mouth full of chicken fried steak with sausage gravy. The chicken fried steak was crisp on the outside and perfectly cooked (not dry) on the inside. The gravy was to die for and the whole dish was nicely seasoned. My eggs were cooked exactly the way I ordered them, and everything was piping hot. Every mouthful was delicious, but the portion was so large that I soon realized that I wouldnt be able to finish the meal. My decision? I didnt want to leave any of the biscuit behind, it was just too good, so I focused on that and ate almost all of it. My experience - large helpings of really delicious food, great service, and a really nice friendly environment. Next time Ill order something smaller so that I have room to try the cobbler.

To be frank, whenever I encounter a bad experience, I dont write a review. Because to me it feels like Im throwing some kind of adult temper tantrum. But this time it got to me. I came to this establishment straight from the airport hoping to enjoy a well rounded breakfast meal with my Mom (whom I was visiting), and boy, it was one of the most austere welcomes I have ever received. I question the 4 star credibility. One of my Moms pancakes was wholy undercooked. When my Mom mentioned it, the waitress simply said "Do you want us to make you another one?". It wasnt what she said, but how she said it, that made us feel like the most undervalued customers in the world. Maybe it wasnt their best day. But to those who travel from afar looking for a good place to eat, please dont come here. An approximate 10 dollars for two undercooked pancakes on top of poor customer service isnt worth it.
