Best Breakfasts Ever!! I couldnt help myself and stopped in twice last week, and I actually tried a couple of items Id never ordered before. Seating was no problem either morning since I arrived not long after they opened. The first day I was craving veggies, so I ordered an omelette with spinach and cheese. It arrived piping hot, and it was HUGE. It was very fluffy and loaded with lots of fresh spinach just as I was hoping. It was served with a side of their delicious pancakes, although I hardly had room to do eat more than a few bites of them. The second time Id had buttermilk pancakes on my mind, and Original Pancake House definitely has the best, so I decided to go there again. They had bacon pancakes and blueberry pancakes on the menu, so I compromised and ordered a short stack of blueberry bacon pancakes to satisfy both my savory and sweet cravings. The combination was awesome, and I almost managed to finish them. I have never been disappointed at Original Pancake House. I think Ill go again this week and try the Swedish pancakes...

The banana pancakes were some of the best Ive ever had in my life. However, the waitress assigned to my table was the most passive aggressive person Ive ever come across. Her service before and during the meal was adequate. After finishing our food, my girlfriend and I took our time to finish our water. We stayed at our table for about 30 minutes, just talking amongst ourselves. They were very slow thst morning, and not in need of a table, but our waitress made it clear that she wanted us to leave. She talked to the other employees in an elevated voice, asking them why we couldnt just leave. Asking why we had to stay after our meal. She made it just loud enough for us to hear. She also stared at us from a distance with a disgusted look, and every time she walked by our table, she would take one item at a time. First it was a napkin, then a glass, then the silverware. She never said a word to us. The food was great, but no food is worth passive aggressive hags throwing a fit over nothing. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

After having a nice breakfast with my girlfriend we went up to pay. I handed the cashier my check and credit card only to find out they do not take credit cards. Its 2010. Credit cards are an everyday part of life whether we like it or not. It made a little more sense once I realized they have a ATM that charges you a fee (of which the restaurant gets a portion) to get cash. I nicely asked the cashier why they did not take credit cards only to have another lady (either a manager or an owner) turn around and snap at me about their credit card policy. She was very defensive and begun arguing with me about it. Her argument was that it takes too long to run a card, which is incorrect in this day in age. I could not believe that she jumped into our conversation and started arguing with a customer. Not good customer service at all. I will never go here again which is too bad because the food is good.

Didnt care for the place. First off, dont go here if you plan on paying with credit; they only take cash. Of course they have a generic ATM for you to use though, and you will be charged with the fee of using it. Secondly, dont go in and expect to be seated if your whole party isnt there. Now this is a reasonable thing for a restaurant to not seat you if you are still expecting people, but we didnt know about it and were rudely told to wait. And lastly, if you are with a group, they wont separate the bill. I took the bill up to the cashier expecting to be able to tell her what I got and have her just ring that up by itself, but she just stated "the cash register isnt able to do that." Come on! Really? The food was good, but I can get good food at another place.... Oh yeah, the menu also says to turn off you cell phones. So keep in mind that they may yell at you if you use your phone.

I loved this restaurant in California and Oregon but this version was something of a let down. The Apple Pancake and Dutch Baby are notorious for being so large that it is a challenge for most people to finish. The ones served on Scottsdale were nothing of the sort though their preparation had the same great flavor. This may be a sign of the economy and I can expect the portion reduction at any of these restaurants. My previous experiences had shown that these businesses took extra measures to have very pleasant and knowledgeable servers, this store did not. Our server was impatient and seemed unconcerned about knowing the details of the specials or the menu. When asked questions her replies had a "you know" kind of attitude. If I knew I wouldnt have bothered to ask. She did keep the coffee flowing which I appreciated, their coffee does have a good flavor.

I am a regular at the NY Original and enjoy the food. I didnt even get a chance to try the food here because of the hostesses attitude. I asked to be seated in the booth and was told there werent any available. When I pointed one out, she said only parties of 2 or more can sit at a booth. She said I was welcome to sit at a small table in the middle of the room (traffic corridor) or I could sit (Jam) at the countertop. While I was there for the estimated 2 minutes, a lady approximately 60 years old was reprimanded for her phone softly ringing. She silenced it after the second ring. I chose to vote with my feet and left. I have never wrote a review before, but their arrogance was overwhelming.

My waitress was very rude and made us feel as if we were a burden. The owner seems very cheap, everything is upcharged there. Sour cream? Really? Also, I noticed that they put the ramekins of butter back if it was unused on the table. Thats gross if something has been sitting on the table during the entire course of someones meal Im pretty sure its against health code to put it back... They dont even provide employees with a t-shirt to work there. My friend said they had to buy even their very first work shirt there and that they take broken plates out of your paycheck. Wtf.?

Read reviews and was told by coworkers how good this place was. Will never go back in my life. The waitress was 93 years old and rude as they come. She was pulling the menu out of my wifes hand as she was ordering. My wife asked for green onions with her eggs and was told flat out NO. Then I asked for one of their signature pancakes and was told they were out. No apology nothing. Then was told they could make a small one. It was disgusting. Didnt leave a tip. Will never go back. Dont come here.

Friendly staff and quick service. I recently relocated to AZ and have always loved the Original Pancake Houses signature 49er pancakes, so now I make the trip from Tucson to Scottsdale just for them! This is a smaller location than the usual OPH, more of a diner look and feel. There are plenty of breakfast places in Tucson but I havent found anywhere that makes an equivalent to the 49ers, so as long as I am in AZ Ill have to make the trip periodically to get my fix.
