Like any restaurant there are strengths & weaknesses. The sandwiches are made on a press and my vegan Philly was good. However, finding a clean table was a bit of a challenge. Overall, cleanliness is a big challenge for this place. The community water jug wasnt flowing so I opened it hoping it was fruit or something, I was surprised to see hair inside the jug & what looked like pieces of napkin in it. Personally, I dont think that is sanitary. Whats worse when I let the person working there know she first just made sure there was water in the container and it doesnt appear to get checked in the inside. When I let her know what was inside she took the water away, but it was not replaced and I didnt get to drink any water with my meal. Since my sandwich was good and the vegan blue cheese dressing was also good (for my side salad) they avoid a 1 star rating from me, but if cleanliness is that big of a challenge it is unsettling to think of for the rest of the "kitchen"

Its great to see vegan places popping up more and more, especially in Mesa, and I want so badly to like this place. Even when theres no one else there, service is painfully slow, and the sandwiches are just okay. The chicken and waffles was really disappointing, kind of stale and cold, especially for the price. To be fair I didnt ask for another one, but I just didnt have 20 more minutes to wait again. I think their menu might be a little too ambitious for the size of their kitchen and staff -- maybe it would be better to stick to drinks and baked goods they get from other restaurants.

I am very disappointed with this place!! I was once their before, and had coffee, and I was leaving , I had asked for refill of my coffee and I was told that it was free! But today I went back again and did the same thing that I had done last time I was their, but I was told that coffee refills are a Dollar. When the cost of the the coffee is 1.65. I will stay in Phoniex next time instead of coming here. What they did is totaly worng. If you dont mind paying different prices each time you come here. Then this place is for you by all means!

Not impressed. Excited to try this place out. Ordered and paid for my sandwhich only to be notified several minutes later that they didnt have the ingredients. I was offered to select another item. I ordered a salad instead. I asked if the side of vegan chili I ordered with my sandwich would be served and was told that I would have to pay extra. I rarely rate lower than 5 stars but this experience was disappointing. The customer service was not good and neither was my salad. I give this 2 stars because the atmosphere is cool.

They will make your coffee any way you like it. The food is delicious, my fav is the copper state grilled cheese. They serve wine and beer as well. Go on mesas Friday night out ( 2nd Fri of the month) after enjoying all the art, shops and different booths, I like to go in and enjoy the wonderful food and atmosphere. While your there read thru the pamphlet about Mesas history and buildings. Fun and interesting read.

The place was very clean and the food was delicious. Most impressive, they brew their own Toddy coffee which was smooth, and delicious, the way God intended Toddy to be. My grilled cheese and green chili sandwich was very good. This could easily be a weekend habit of mine. I cant wait to try their donuts with another coffee next Saturday.

My husband and I were definitely not expecting to find vegan options in Mesa. We were pleasantly surprised to find Volstead connected to the venue we were attending a concert at. The staff was very friendly and the items are clearly denoted. They serve mostly what I would consider comfort food, sandwiches and soup.. totally up my alley.

Love the fact there is a vegan restaurant in Mesa. I feel that theyre a little stingy on the food and the sandwiches are a bit lack luster (although flavorful). I expected a bit more than I got. Flavored coffee was bland. Not a bad place at all just not quite where it needs to be in my opinion.

Ive been here countless times! Very clean, public bathroom. Swanky hipster vegan dining. Food amazing! Majority of staff super friendly however Ive encountered a couple not so cheerful staff members. Great location walking distance from the lightrail stop! Free wifi also!

I love the lighting and space here! Vegan sausage, and the homemade lavender scone are my favorite!! I prefer the girls to make my coffee they make it better than the guys do in my opinion. :) Always have great tunes playing! Cant wait for the open mic nights!

Best little vegan find in down town Mesa. Good food, drinks and a chill place to hang out. Came for the lecture and came back for the food! I had my first vegan donuts here and yet to find one better. Try the Squawker Texas Ranger youll love it.

Great salads, great sandwiches, sqwuaker Texas ranger is my favorite. They always have some baked goodies too: donuts, scones, etc. And of course great coffee. The folks are super friendly too!

They have creative sandwiches and side pairings as well as sweet & savory options for the scones, muffins or bagels. On top of all this the prices are all great and the service is even better.

I love this place, theres daily specials and everything is vegan (you can request dairy cheese)! The atmosphere is nice and relaxed, the 2 ladies that run the shop are always great.

Nastiest latte I have ever had. First it wasnt even hot, second it tasted burnt. I wanted to support a local place but it was truly a terrible drink. Do not recommend.

Decent food, nothing great. A bit overpriced, salad, tea and scone cost me $18+, and service is lackluster at best. I liked the place better when they first opened up.

The sandwiches were very good and my kids loved them. I had a philly and my wife had a spicy chikun. Wide selection of craft beers. Prices are very reasonable, too.

Fun place to meet with friends for a chat. The only downside is the blinding light that comes in through that big window, hence you have to always face the wall.

Great vegan options (and its next to a concert venue), though the portions could be a little larger given the price.

The muffins were very doughy and not very good. The also short changed me by a few dollars. Not worth it.
