Love Cafe Rio! Their food is awesome! However this locations service seems to be going down hill. It seems they have enough man power to move the line along fast, especially since most of the food is already made. However several of the employees behind the counter wonder around like theyre not sure whats going on while one or two try to move the line of 15 people along. The last time I was in I called ahead to order takeout, after standing in the takeout line (of two people) for ten minutes I was told my order wasnt in the computers do that I must have called another location after confirming with the employee that I called the number he began to take a new order. I asked if I should just go through the line. He said that would probably be better. Once at the checkout after going through another employee asks the guy who was helping me before what one of the orders was in a bag sitting on the takeout shelf. He peaks into it and timidly says it was my original order. It just seems a little training could go a LONG way here. I hope they do something about this.

We showed up at 11:30 and they acted like they couldnt care less it was my first time, even though they yelled first timer!" They had been open for 30 min and several employees were sitting at tables eating - but the guacamole wasnt ready, the drinks werent ready and there were empty places on the line where food should be. It was strange. I got the butt end of the lettuce and a brown spot on a tomato and my meal looked like slop. I finished my meal and needed a drink because I went a little heavy on the hot salsa. (again it was my first time) When I went to ask about the drinks, the girl giggled at me and said she could refund me for the drink I never got cause she was the manager. WOW. I was not impressed! Save your money and time, go someplace else. Everybody there may think its funny to do a crappy job, but Ill bet the owner doesnt think its funny. You lost a customer, you gave out ugly food and got a bad review. To me thats not funny.

I was at the Cafe Rio at Gibert AZ last night ( Tuesday) They were OUTof hot sauce! They have NO hot sauce at ALL!! What Mexican food restaurant run out of hot sauce? They couldnt send anyone to the store? This was the second time in the past month that something when wrong. I will not go there again. Managment refuses to fix their problems. This Cafe Rio seems to be the store where are the deadbeat managers are located at, and the company sends them over here. A couple years ago, the store had different management and employees, and I always had an enjoyable experience. If anything went wrong, they would correct it right away, with an apology and smile on their face. Very sad to see this location become this poor. From now on will be taking my money to Costa Vida.

The food was good, not great just good. I had the sweet pork quesadilla. It was pretty big, and greasy, but still tasted good. However even though the food was good, the customer service was sub par. There was about 5 different people in line at a time from when i got there until I got to the front of the line. So the flow of customers was consistent. But as I was trying to get toppings and sides, the man helping me at that portion of the line did not care for what I was asking for. He was too busy trying to pass my dish off to the cashier that he had to go back and forth more times than he needed had he just asked me first if i wanted anything else with my meal rather than just walking away assuming I was finished. Ill stick with Costa Vida

This place used to be great. It has changed for the worst in the last couple years though. The drinks are never churning so you get a bunch of mint leaves in your drink. Have to tell staff to refill drink machines frequently. Trash is always overflowing. Lettuce isnt cut small enough so you have to chomp through enormous pieces in a salad. Most staff members are pretty unfriendly and rush you through. I understand getting people through line, but you can still be friendly. Cashier was nice. Still usually like their food. Especially salads. Look out for BOGO deals. Free quesadillas for kids is great. Fan of the drinks if churned! Also seating is awkward. Tables dont move so not conducive for groups bigger than 4 to sit together.

I have been to this restaurant many times and never had a bad experience until tonight. They didnt tell us that they were out of pico de gallo and fresca until the end of the line. Who sells Mexican food with NO salsa? It was 8:50pm and they dont close until 11p. They offered no discount or extra punch for not having it. I asked how long until they made more and the young man who made our food said IDK and was extremely rude and tired. When I asked for an extra punch or discount he said NO. I asked to speak to the manager who looked at us and said they had been very busy and walked away. We had ordered 4 meals and paid full price with no salsa. Very disappointed cuz we love to eat here often.

I really liked the food and the staff at this location, but since its renovation it is not the same. First you have to wait an average of 15 to 20 minutes to order and then your food is either cold or uncooked. The tortillas are the only thing that havent changed. And lets not talk about service and appearance. Tables are dirty, garbage cans full, no napkins or utensils. I can go on and on. In the last two months we visited this location a few times. One time left because the line was too long, another day we waited over half an hour just to order, and the last time we were here, my food was cold and uncooked. Sorry to say, but we might have to stop coming. :(

They Just opened one in Avondale and it replaced Baja Fresh. Let me just say it is no Baja Fresh, Baja Fresh was much better. However I did like it better than Chipotle. I ordered a grilled Chicken Burrito. The Tortillas are great and the grilled chicken was ok. Stay away from the Red Hot Sauce. #1 it is not hot at all Tostitos mild salsa is hotter. Also the flavor of that red sauce is somewhat of a mystery, just not good. Oh and if you order Guacamole they charge you 1.95 for 2 little spoon fulls of it not really worth it. Overall it was ok I think your money is probably better spent at Manuels You get Way better food and the price is about the same.

So frustrated with this specific Cafe Rio. This is the second time I have done a mobile order with them. Both times I have waited longer for my food then if I wouldve stood in the long line. I order my food on the app and show up 30 minutes later at the time it tells me. I get there and no one ever notices me for over 5 minutes at the register. When I finally tell them my name they ask someone to start my order. Thats craxy! My order should already be started if not finished by the time I get there. I love the good and normally dont complain but being the second time this has happened I feel like it should be brought to someones attention ah least.
