They keep your deposit. These are the reasons they gave...............a quarter size piece of candle wax on the brick outside, a piece of butter on the brick outside, 8 minutes late in cleaning and an m&m on the ground! They wanted there entire place "professionally power washed by a licensed contractor" From the second we arrived for the wedding this is what we went through: The owner asked if there were more than 150 people present - if so there is an additional charge (since they set up 150 chairs for the wedding and clearly all the chairs were not occupied - the answer would be no) They were told that approx 25 small children would be attending - the owner physically grabbed a 6 year old by the collar and arm! She told us that the children could not be on the dance floor unless they were dancing. Keep in mind that the children were from 1-14 yrs old and they had been told repeatedly that the wedding was kid friendly. Their only request was that crayons not be used for the kid table. The owner stated that all the children needed to be sitting at a table and coloring - nothing else. The owner REFUSED to inspect the premises after we cleaned up, she said that we wouldnt get the deposit because it was 10:38 and we were contracted from 2:30 - 10:30. She also said that she couldnt check things out because it was dark, although all the lights were still on. The owner said that there would be plenty of help from them to move chairs from the wedding service in the back to the reception area out front - however, the guest ended up doing it because they were tired of standing around for 1/2 hour. One of their chairs broke when someone sat on it and they wanted the bride and groom to pay for it! Not only that, but they had a craft show the night that the rehearsal was scheduled so there could be no rehearsal. So, I guess its ok for them to break their end of the contract (no rehearsal, no setting up chairs for the reception) but 8 minutes late and you lose your deposit. So, they act like they will work with you, but in reality they dont. I WOULD NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE! .

I would like to start off by saying that I was a consistent customer for the last couple years. I enjoyed coming here to read, work, and study. The drinks were a treat. The first bad experience that stuck in my mind was when I was visiting with a few friends. During this visit, one of the owners began to handle a mistake my friend made with the coffee refills very rudely. There seemed to be no understanding or explanations given before starting the negative reactions towards my friend. After leaving this visit, I decided that maybe the owners were having a bad day and did not worry about it any further. I kept coming. Recently, I came for another visit and experienced this behavior again. This time it was taken another step further than it needed to be. I had brought some food to eat along with the drink I had purchased during this visit. As I was looking for a seat, the owner told me they do not allow outside food or drinks, so I decided to take the food out to the patio area. A few minutes later, as I am eating, the owner comes over and tells me that if he sees me bring some type of food or drink again, they won’t serve me and they will make me leave the property. The owner handled this conversation very rudely and did not even try to be nice in his explanation. Their drinks are good, and you probably can’t go wrong with getting one there, but be forewarned that if you do something they don’t like, they will give you a hard time. Also, sometimes the owners aren’t welcoming when you come into the coffee shop, so that may rub people the wrong way. I tried to brush off the negative things, but the owners need to work on being more empathetic with their customers. They need to work on having a better attitude when it comes to customer service. Sadly, I will not be coming back here.

Although this place has a nice look to it, don’t let it fool you. There is a path on the side that leads to where a wedding ceremony would take place and it is absolutely horrible condition. It has raised rocks that are nearly impossible to walk on. I sprained my ankle walking through the path while carrying chairs from the ceremony to the reception. We were told that the staff would assist in the process but they never did and the bridal party was forced to move the chairs in the tuxedos. The owners yelled at the kids that were at the wedding and even grabbed one of them by the shoulder and yelled at his mother. They would not allow the children to have suckers and told the parents that the children were to sit at the tables and not do anything else. They would not provide an adequate location for a mother to feed her child and refused to sell or give someone some milk for a child that was thirsty but could not have soda. They locked us out of the area where the ceremony was held before we were able to clean it and then complained that we were 8 minutes later than what we paid for because we had to work around them. We cleaned that place to their standards and then they said they would not check to see how we did until the morning. When they looked at it all they did was complain about how messy we left it. One of the owners got in a fight with the best man so we were not able to double check the cleaning. They even threatened to go to the bride and groom on there wedding day at refund them for the event because we had children there. These people have no respect for a family on their wedding day and absolutely hate children. If you plan on having a wedding at this place do not bring your children because they will not enjoy it at all.

I dont normally write reviews but I cant believe two other reviews I ve read here. Im from the East coast and come to Mesa once or twice a year to visit family. I have been charmed by this gem since I first found it a while back. Actually the hosts at the airbnb I first used recommended it and I have been so glad for the initial introduction. Ever since I plan my stay in Mesa around having easy access to this place. I like the teas while my daughter who has visited Mesa with me likes the coffee. I have a love/hate relationship with the homemade granola bars (sooo good) and have always enjoyed whatever food Ive ordered. I have spent lots of time inside in the cozy rooms and have spent lots of time outside on the patio. Never have I experienced or witnessed rude or inappropriate behavior from the owners who have been there every time Ive been a customer. In fact I have enjoyed both brief exchanges and longer conversations with both husband and wife. They have always struck me as exactly the kind of folks who you expect could create a wonderful space like inside the bungalow. The two negative reviews I read told me more about the authors than the coffee shop. Bringing food into a food and drink establishment... talk about clueless. And losing track of where you are and the fact that someone is waiting to get your order... Reminds me of those who talk on cell phones while approaching a counter and appear offended if they are requested to end their call and conduct their business. Give me a break. I cant wait to talk to the owners again very soon and express my support in direct response to the comments of these apparent spoiled children.
