I was excited to try this place with how cozy the location is and being a seafood lover and all. It wasnt a bad experience, the server was nice but I wasnt impressed with the food or the presentation at all. This restaurant has a lot of potential but needs to modernize their presentations and menus. Bland vegetables with absolutely no seasoning at all, rice pilaf is not even real rice pilaf. Rice pilaf is a technique not a recipe and when executed properly does not end up with soggy clumps of rice with little to no flavor. That tells me they are either not using the pilaf technique or they are using rice cooked days before serving. The old school plating is not very appealing and correct me if Im wrong but a lobster dinner most certainly should be served with a ceramic ramekin of clarified butter, not a little plastic disposable ramekin. Thats like serving a filet minion on a plastic plate in a steak house. Pre-made frozen baguettes as dinner bread when they could come up with a much more original and flavorful option. These seem minor but it reflects the lack of passion the owners have in creating an experience difficult to recreate for a family at home, and render a potentially great restraunt, average. Invest in the right presentations, force your staff to put a little more effort into making things from scratch and the word of something special happening in Dana Plaza will travel increasing your sales. I hope they take this to heart and not as an attack because Id love to see them succeed so that I can come in more often for a nice dinner.

My husband and I went in spur of the moment. We are originally from the midwest and seafood was never hard to come by. Here our options were limited in that Joess Crab Shack and Red Lobster and Benihana if you count that were our only choices for decent seafood. However we got tired of spending bookoo money for less than satisfaction. When we came in we were greeted and seated immediately. She asked for our drink order and returned promptly. She told us about the house favorites and best sellers and then gave us a chance to look over the menu which has a large selection that is surprising for a seafood spot in the desert. My husband got the Primavera with garlic sauce and I got the crab stuffed shrimp with clam chowder and baked potato. I am a big fan of potatoes so I was disappointed when it was a bit overcooked but the seafood which is what I went there for more than made up for it. Then we had some of their homemade Key Lime Pie which was simply divine. Wow! My husband said that was the best meal he has ever had in a restaurant and that is saying alot because we are definitely foodies and find some good eats! Five stars all the way! We will be back and we certainly will be telling all of our seafood loving friends about this place!

There prices are reasonable for the quality and variety of fish you get here. My family is from Connecticut and Ive always been a fan of seafood but could never find anything decent out here as far as seafood meals go (Pappadeuxs is an exception). Once we discovered this place (at its old location near us on Southern between Alma School & Dobson) we changed our mind about the freshness of fish that you could eat in Arizona. On the coast, you never get sandy oysters/clams because they are fresh and not the bottom of the barrel and your fish tastes like fresh fish...here they pick up their own fish fresh every day (from what I know) and you can even purchase said fish there. As previously stated they have a variety of meals from Clams Casino to simply salmon or catfish plates and Ive never had a problem there. Even when very busy (the area inside is relatively small compared to other places in the same plaza) I was able to get a seat for 2-3 within 10-15 minutes. Definitely worth a checking out for any real seafood fan. Oh yeah, and prepare to eat REAL chowda and not the liquidy, from-the-can crap you get at most restaurants in Arizona; Im pretty sure they even have OTC!

I am usually a very big fan of this place, both the people and the food. Pablo, the owner, is one of the more welcoming and friendly people you will find! I eat here pretty regularly, and have for almost 10 years. However, this post is regarding and entirely different kind of experience. I called to place an order, as I have for years and years, but was greeted by "trisha". Upon some confusion about an item I wanted to order, I asked to speak to a manager or owner to try and get clarification. No big deal right? Thats when she became extremely rude and condescending. Informing me "I am the manger so..." And speaking to me in a demeaner that, as someone in hospitality/restaurant management "for 7 years" should know, you neverrrr speak to a customer. I felt extremely disrespected to the point of not feeling comfortable even ordering food from her. Again, I DO want to reiterate that I have had nothing but great experiences with this establishment, until my first (and definitely last) time running into & having to deal with someone like "Trisha", who is clearly in the wrong line of business. Im not sure that I will be returning as a customer again.

Terrible service! It took over an hour and a half to get our food. We placed our order and watched as other customers, who came in after us, received their entrees before we ever received our appetizer. We finally asked the manager if there was a problem with our order. He came out less than 2 minutes later with our entrees and said they had just finished them. However, the food was barely warm - not what you would expect since the food was just made. The manager did not seem to care and flat out lied about what happened. We would have been much more understanding had the manager been honest with us and showed that he cared about our business. The menu looked great and the food seems like it would have been good. Unfortunately, ours was not edible. We will not be back.

Overall I enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. The Steamers were excellent, and very delicious. I ordered the pasta primavera as my entree. The fish was overcooked and practically mush but that was a minor detail in comparison to all of the shellfish. The clams, muscles, and shrimp were all excellent, AZ were all the sauces. Everything tasted very fresh and was prepared to order. I think perhaps the chef was just having an off day in regards to the fish. Service however was impeccable. My server answered my questions with confidence and was well informed. He was also very personable and was quick to refill our empty glasses. Clearing dishes away in a manner where we felt like the meal transitioned comfortably and smoothly without feeling rushed.

I looked at other reviews and had to double check the address! yup same place, this place is fantastic! The NE clam chowda is delicious, loaded with clams, cream and butter. Ive worked half way around the menu and ive had some of the specials, delicious. My husband is born and raised in New England and he hates fish ( his loss ), so he would recommend the burger. it looks more like a burger sub sandwich. Its HUGE! Fun group of individuals. If you are there during the snowbird season it does get crowded early. Have a late supper, 7:45 - 8:15 and you have the place to yourself!! Family oriented and great decor.
