Was here for a special date and was beyond disappointed in the food and service. Mostly the food. We were seated quickly and greeted by our server. After debating an appetizer the server recommended the frog legs. So we decided to try it for the first time. They arrived bathed in a soupy tomato based sauce and tasted of freezer burn. I heard they were supposed to taste like chicken, but felt like I was eating tomato sauce flavored paper towels. Tasteless! She then came back and told us they were not her favorite thing. Gee thanks! After that we ordered food. My clam chowder arrived quick but was overcooked. After what seemed like forever, we got our entres. As in we ordered in full daylight and food arrived in near darkness. Anyway, my salmon and halibut was incredibly small and the side veggies did not complement the fishes. The fish were both made on a pine(?) plank and tasted too much like the wood. (the server did ask if o wanted something else but it was pretty late already). My date had a gumbo-like dish and the calamari was rubbery as was the fishing it. It was overly salty and just unpleasant. She didnt eat much of it. So, for the price this place is a total joke. Ive been to far better seafood places with similar pricing and gotten unforgettable food and service. The location is beautiful, however.

This place is just ok. I have been here about 6 times (usually with friends) and I am consistently underwhelmed by everyones praise of this place. I do however love the location and architecture of the joint. Food: Every time I order seafood here I get an older (yet acceptable) piece of fish. Most types of fresh fish dont have the "fishy" taste and the halibut, salmon, and trout that Ive tried here has never been right. And dont get me started on the crab cakes. The crab isnt fresh, the mixture isnt seasoned properly (reminds me of tuna salad) and the crust is off as well. I guess what really upsets me is that most people praise this place saying it serves some of the freshest seafood. Ive been to the brunch a couple of times and their cinnamon rolls are just stale and awful and their poached eggs in their benedict were too runny both times I ordered them while the potatoes lacked seasoning and the plate was drowned in a hollandaise sauce that was "ok". However, the fresh juices were nice. Service: Has been slow every time I go here. Most waiters have trouble checking in once in awhile to ensure the food is good and beverages are topped off. All-in-all this place has decent food and service, I just dont understand the hype it gets from the locals. There are better options.

Fresh Fish....in Salt Lake City! I rolled up into this place for a work trip. I was all alone after some training. Slapped my butt in a booth and took to the menu. They had fresh Oysters, fish, etc? Whaaat?! Were in the middle of the country! Oysters were on "happy hour" for that time, and were STILL overpriced (#ImFromLouisiana) @ 1$ each. So I got 12 for 12$. Now, these were "fresh" (which you could tell) and they were decent size. So, size/freshness = 3.5 stars for these oysters. For a dollar a pop, i wont complain too much. The beer: was cold in a glass. 5/5. I then ordered the Blackened Ahi Tuna and it is just amazing. Sushi cut, seared on both sides, medium rare (more so rare, but excellent). Greens on the side, ginger soy on the side, etc. I tore that thing up! TORE IT UP!!!!!!!! Portion size was ok, but the quality and flavor and preparation were just outstanding. Go surprise yourself by eating fresh fish at a seafood market themed restaurant. Youll be happy you did.

My husband and I dined here for our 6 year anniversary and it was by far a terrible experience. Our waitress was stale and very unfriendly and the food left something to be desired considering how much it is to eat here. The best thing about the whole dinner was the clam chowder and our jumbo onion rings and possibly the bread they serve to you while you wait. We had the filet mingion and stuffed shrimp that sounded great but was from it. My steak was so over cooked that I had to send it back and what they gave me after that looked like it had just been butchered in the back room, it was so raw that in the middle the meat was almost purple. Mind you my goal for a steak was medium well so it was far from my expectations. The stuffed shrimp was ok other than it had an overwhelming fishy taste that was hard to choke down. Overall the experience sucked and we will not come back nor would I recommend this to anyone I know or even disliked.

My Mom and I decided to go to lunch. Historically this has been a great experience, good food, good service, nice atmosphere, this time the server was very pushy at up-selling. We wondered if the fish and chips special was halibut or cod so she asked the manager who told her it was halibut, which is what we wanted. It was long in arriving and was told that she was misinformed and it was actually cod. She offered to take it back and change it to halibut if we wanted, but we had already waited a long time so we kept the cod. The server offered to slap the manager in the back of the head if I wanted her to. Very unprofessional. I wont go back to this location even though the food was good and my Mom and I had a great time together!

We went there Sunday night for our anniversary dinner. I have always found the downtown Market Street to have excellent service and food, but this location is totally different. To start, the hostesses had terrible manners and were hardly polite about the wait, so we decided to sit in the bar side. Our server there was slow, but nice. The table was dirty and seemed to have not even been wiped off. Drinks were super slow to come out. Then the food was very sub par. Rubbery veggies and a "medium rare" steak that was beyond medium well. Im bummed because we just moved in down the street from this location. These are problems related to management, so I will not be returning any time soon.

Saturday night, crowded, but got a table via Open Table. I go to a restaurant to have food I cant prepare at home. $40 for a 9 oz filet mignon, that tasted of natural gas. $40 for ahi tuna that was actually very good, but rather non-imaginative with a basic soy ginger sauce. $40 for overcooked Alaskan halibut. They did bring out another serving of halibut to replace the dry bit of fried protein that was called halibut. The second attempt at the halibut was OK. VERY mediocre and rather expensive. Not someplace I would return. Our server was very gracious and the wine and beer were quite good and reasonably priced, so I give it 2 stars for that.
