Ive been looking for an all-purpose eatery for a while, and I think Ive found it in Cafe Square One. Salads, sandwiches, and even sushi are available, plus a few snacks and pastries. La Colombe coffee and smoothies are served, too. All of the food Ive had is good here--the sushi is very fresh and the sandwiches are all made to order. Definitely try the SQ Melt--its a loaded three-cheese grilled cheese with tomato, avocado, and bacon. Plus its only $6.75, which is a low price for an Old City sandwich. Free Wifi is an added bonus, and there is a surprisingly large amount of seating for such a small place. However, the bathroom is out of order indefinitely, so you wont be able to sit here and drink coffee all day. My biggest complaint is that the menu in store is a little confusing--the sandwiches are listed with their base price, which is good, but some of the extra ingredients (like a fried egg on the Baconator) is misleadingly listed as being part of the sandwich, when one actually has to ask to add it on, for an extra price. Some clarification would be helpful.

Had the eggs, bacon and potato platter for breakfast. The bacon was orange and flat and wasnt made of pork even though that is what I ordered. I suspect a 3D printer product, it wasnt food. The eggs were over cooked and the potatoes (homestyle) were greasy with bits of green peppers swimming amongst them. We ate in and the coffee was served in a paper cup, with a plastic lid. We had foam plates and plastic cutlery. Nothing green about it at all.

Wonderfully friendly staff and truest delicious food! Theres a huge variety of options (even for vegetarians and vegans!) and an extensive drink list. I stopped by for lunch during a conference - the next morning when I came for coffee the barista remembered my name (unbelievable after seeing me once, considering how many people they must serve throughout the day). Ill definitely be coming back - cant recommend this cafe enough!

Be prepared for a slightly longer wait for a sandwich than youre used to, but thats because they make all of them to order and fresh while you wait. Generous meat portions on all the sandwiches/paninis/wraps. Make sure to get a pickle on the side. Havent had the sushi, but if its as fresh as the sandwiches, Im sure its delicious!
