Im so glad I happened to notice they were open, and on opening night! Ive been waiting excitedly for this since I saw the application for liquor license go up. This was worth the wait! I ordered the daejja bulgogi, which was perfect, and had the corn tea. This of course came with plenty of banchan. Susana (who I think is the owner?) kept stopping by to check on me and apologizing for the spotty, opening night craziness. Everything was actually perfect. I had a book, so I didnt even notice if it was slow. I was very excited to see that they had seaweed salad and mook, which I have been unable to find anywhere. Prices were also a good deal - the banchan kept coming, the tea kept flowing, and it was only $17 for meat, rice, banchan, and tea. Ill definitely order the mandu and ssam next time, too. Dont let the outside fool you - inside is very well done up. It is a bit small though (20 or 30 tables?), and I anticipate them becoming very popular, so plan ahead. Im excited to keep going back!

We came all the way from San Francisco to have dinner at Sesame Korean Grill in Santa Cruz. And we were not disappointed! The owner use to have a restaurant in Burlingame, where the food and the service were wonderful. So when we heard that he had relocated to Santa Cruz, we just knew that we would have to check out his new location. The new restaurant is in a really nice space and the food is just as terrific as we remembered. I wish them much success in their new location!

Ok food but small serving. Im a grown man but the serving sizes were like for kids when I left I was still hungry.prices were way too high for what you get. I ordered burgogi.not much choices on the menu. I was hoping it was a korean restraunt. but sad to say very disappointed.

The food is excellent!! and the staff is friendly although somewhat inattentive. It should be noted that their menu and hours are limited, but thats probably because theyre still relatively new, hopefully they will grow these out in the future.

I have eaten here a few times. The service is great. Today however it lagged a little and my food got misplaced but they comped me for the dish. Now thats accountability! Plus the food is always good!

Great dining experience, though a two things stuck out to me: very low lighting and tiny servings of banchan. Plates were generous portions, so they can be easily shared with 1 or 2 more people.

The portions are huge, priced very fairly. The service is great, and all of the food is delicious. Even the beer on tap is perfect. 10/10 Experience, food, service, highly recommend.
