In Christmas Eve, I went to there with my parents, husband and girls. We ordered Kimchi zzigae, bibim noodles, seafood pancake, sea food noodles and vary kind of dishes. But all the dishes was terrible. One of side dish was gone And I told the server but they did not take out the side dish. Even the side dish was served continuously the next table. Ewwww!!!!!

We wanted to go to some place fun for a co-worker from out of town and near the office. We picked this place and kept our fingers crossed it would be good. We were not disaapointed. We made reservations for 5:30, there was 2 other tables with us. We ordered our food, pork belly, marinated beef, and spicy chicken. The pork belly and marinated beef we cooked table side, the spicy chicken was cooked in the kitchen and served on a sizzling platter. We started our meal with cold noodle soup. It was spicy (tang of kimchee) and a new experience for taste buds. Then we got a bowl of hot tofu soup which was very good. We got about 16 different ban chan (spelling??) which are side dishes from various forms of cooked and pickled vegetables, cold noodles, and egg dishes. We wrapped our grilled meats in lettuce wrapped, topped off with bean paste. They come and refill the lettuce and side dishes until your hearts content. Service was off when we first got in there. They dont get busy until close to 7pm. We got better attention around 6:30. At one point the fire went out on the grill and we had to flag someone down to relight. I would love to go back again, but since most of my co-workers dont live on this side of the bay and they wont stick around for this.

+ AYCE for $20 + great service + lots of banchan The food is decent. As expected, for $20 AYCE, the meat is not high quality, but they have beef, two kinds of pork, and two kinds of chicken to keep you satisfied. They definitely dont skimp on portions for AYCE so be prepared to go all out. The banchan spread is ridiculous. They first bring like 15 little white dishes filled with various pickled and non-pickled veggies. YUM. Then they give you a cold noodle soup. Then a spicy tofu stew. And of course, all the rice and lettuce you can eat with your meat. Only down side is they dont offer the steamed egg for free. Pork belly and beef were great. Definitely couldnt finish everything (but we did order 5 orders of meat between two people). The spicy pork was so so. Maybe Im just partial to cooking my own meat. Towards the end of the evening, when it wasnt as busy, one of the waiters came by and regularly attended our grill. He was very nice and gave us tips here and there. We were one of the last tables out of the restaurant (they were already cleaning up and eating their dinners), but they were very gracious not to rush us. Great service!

My favorite AYCE Korean BBQ place in the East Bay. They recently raised their prices by a few dollars, but have finally added bulgogi, potstickers and the kimchee pancake to the AYCE menu. Their banchan (side dishes) are plentiful and usually take up all the room on your table. Meats are marinated-- my favorite is the pork belly and bulgogi. The spicy pork is difficult to cook, as the marinade makes it hard to see if the meat is cooked through. Wait times can be crazy-- Ive waited up to 45 minutes for a 4-person table. Parking can be a nightmare as well. If youre willing to park near Lake Merritt and take a 10 minute stroll, its not too bad, but dont expect to find any parking nearby the restaurant.

They have lunch lunch specials that start around $9. Serves you free bunchan and cold soup. Food is ok. I havent had their bbq, so maybe Im missing out on their signature dishes. Ordered: Buk Uh Guk - Dried Cod Fish Soup with To-Fu & Egg. I wouldnt bother ordering this again. I was under the weather and wanted something light and warm. The dried cod was overcooked and was rubbery. Soup lacked flavor and all the ingredients just seemed like a white flavorless mush in my mouth. Dont bother. I honestly cant remember what I ordered before. Three stars for always having great service and banchan. Next time Ill order grilled meats and do a fair review.

The service was the main problem. And the waiters werent even busy, also they might be a little prejudice of non-asian ppl. I went with two Asian friends of mine and we go "okay" service the first time we went tho we might have gotten them mad for eating all their food. Tho it was a all you can eat for 20$ kinda thing. And other ppl of different races came in and got worse service then we did on our second visit. But we couldnt get rice or water for the last 30 minutes we were there. If u wanna eat here u go, if u want the whole shebang then its not here. Or make a trip to see them on a slow day/afternoon.

This place always has waiting line dinner time. I love Korean food. I thought food is good. But I am sorry I wont go back again. We (me and friend) ordered deep fried dumpling we shared. I order spicy beef soup he ordered spicy sea food soup. Dumpling was like frozen from grocery store. Both Soup were tasye like water. means no taste. We didnt order BBQ. We ordered just appetizer and soups. Total $40 I know not too expensive for 2 people. Sever took order and bring food: But never come back check our table. I am sorry I only left 10% tips Because food was sucks and service is really bad.

Ah, Jong Ga House. The good: oh the banchan... So many banchan! All 16 are decent, plus an extra free cold soup at the beginning and cold dessert drink at the end. Also, AYCE is pretty awesome, especially of you love to grill your own stuff. The bad: food is mediocre otherwise. Our bulgogi really sucked, which is really a big disappointment. Our sauteed squid and the soft tofu soup was also cold, which is definitely the opposite of Korean cuisine. The raw egg didnt even remotely poach in the soft tofu soup, with the whites still quite clear...

Glad we made reservations, there was a line out the door Thursday night. Couldnt find a waiter, so asked the bar guy, and we were sitting at our reserved seats in no time for 7 :) condiments are plenty, waiter was beyond gracious, very courteous and had a memory like a hawk. Didnt write our essay of choice, but got everything righty. Words of wisdom, turn up the heat on the grill so you can get the meat caramelized and good. Only knock, I wish that had more tasty side condiments and not so cheap on the side lettuce, besides that grrrrrreat.

Theres a bit of waiting, even with reservations, but you really cant go wrong here for Korean food. The most banchan Ive ever seen and a huge menu full of incredibly tasty options. AYCE is best in the Bay Area too, but is outclassed by LA. Combine this with excellent service and theres almost no need to go anywhere else for Korean food. The Korean restaurants on Telegraph and Ohgane are worth checking out if the line is too long though, especially if you want places that are more specialized in certain dishes.
