Pros: - really quality korean food. I especially like the bibimbops. The seafood bibimbop is absolutely delicious and probably the best bibimbop Ive ever had. The stone bowl is always very hot so it gets a very good sear of the rice on the bottom and the sauce they use is great - great side dishes (cucumber, braised potatoes, this really yummy marinated tofu, bean sprouts, kimchi) Cons: - service is very passive aggressive. at a korean restaurant I assume that at some point I will get at least 1 refill of my side dishes. Whenever I ask for a refill here they ask me "which ones do you want to refill?" When I say "all of them" they often say "all of them?" as if to pressure me to not refill all of them. Ive often started my request with "can I refill all of them?" and they still ask me the same question. a lot of times I ask for refills of 3 out of the 5, and they only refill 2 out of the 3 that I chose. Sometimes they only refill the dish to half if I ask again. Example: tofu side dish always comes with 2 tofu, but when I asked twice they only gave me 1 tofu. Overall: honestly very sad that their service is so passive aggressive because the food is great. They act like you owe them something when you walk into the restaurant and I feel like they are holding a grudge the whole time.

Songpa is a super yummy and only authentic Korean restaurant is Mountain View. Im Korean and love to cook, but once in a while I like to eat out for at a good Korean restaurant. Before we discovered Songpa, our only choices for really good Korean food was to go to either Jang Su Jang or Chungdam In Santa Clara. Happily, we can get authentic Korean in Mountain View now! While the menu is limited, the quality and flavor is spot on. The banchan (complimentary side dishes), like the menu, is limited, but we are happy again with the authentic flavor and quality. Tonight we ordered Yukgaejang (spicy beef soup), vegetarian Bibimbap, Omu rice (fried rice with fried egg), kalbi and manduguuk (dumpling soup). Every one of the dishes were delicious. One quick tip is to ask for the ketchup on the side for the omurice becasue other wise, its a bit heavy on the ketchup. To date, everything weve had on the menu has been good except for the ttokbokki, which was much too sweet for our tastes, so I would not recommend it.

Im not surprised that this place has a rating leaning towards 5 stars (as opposed to a surprising 3.5 on yelp) Their seafood pancake might be the best fried shrimp Ive ever had (Requested extra-crispy). Spicy chicken is awesome and such a large portion too (portions here are great). Side dishes are also fantastic, especially the sweet-soy potatoes and the bamboo shoots. Red sauce and kimchi are awesome as with every Korean restaurant. Ive always just seen the one sweet smiling server here (middle-aged asian man) who really is awesome, Id give this place 6 stars if I could. With the egg-ramen/soup dishes, they bring out the egg separately to crack it on the ramen once its there. A cool way of serving I hadnt seen before.

Obviously, Im not Korean, but this is my favorite Korean restaurant Ive been to so far. It has had its off days but every other time the food has been delicious. Every dish. A friend and I have been there so often for the tofu stew that if I forget to say "no onions" the server remembers and makes sure of it. EVEN if were not seated with her. <3 Its very tiny though so larger groups will have difficulty during busy times. Id say it seats ~30-50 people total. (Ive not paid attention as Im usually just with one or two other people so forgive me if Im off on that estimate.)

I tried yukgaejang for the first time because so many people recommended it in the reviews. It was good, but I thought the broth was rather bland. I mean the broth was not good enough for me to finish the broth after I was done with the "solid" part of the noodle soup, if you know what I mean. But maybe Im just not able to appreciate it because Im not used to the flavor. I think my favorite Korean soup is still sundubu jjigae though, but I havent tried it at this restaurant. Other than that, the banchan were good, service was okay, and the place was clean.

I understand people trying to pump up this place with 5 stars. It is quite good. However, as someone who has been to a bunch of Korean restaurants in Southern California, it is ridiculous to give this place 5 stars. Its a solid 4 star place with nice minimalist decor, good service and good Korean food from what I had. Banchan was not a large variety, but all good and tasty. The japchae noodles were cooked just right with lots of veggies, but enough meat. The BBQ spicy chicken was very good (I think this is a non-standard dish, but done well).

The restaurant is located in Mountain View downtown where I visit often. But I rarely visit this place, because the food tastes too sweet and cheap. I dont know how to describe the taste. I think the same male server used to be nicer when it opened like last year. Because the location is very good, this restaurant could be more popular if they do better...

One of the best Korean restaurants Ive been visiting. I do have lunch and dinner at this place since their opening and I like it. Food here tastes differently from other places, that makes them unique. For those people who complains about too sweet food, that doesnt mean you should give low rating. Its just not your place, find another restaurant.

Enjoyed the bimbimbop and the appetizers served with the meal is great! Food took about 5-7minutes to be served from ordering there were very few people so time may vary. Its good for small groups nothing bigger than a group of 6. Space is small but the food is well worth it. One of the better value restaurants in Downtown Mountain View

The vegetarian bibimbab was delicious and came out fast. The spicy beef soup I tried was also good, but very spicy. The pickled small dishes they bring out for free along with your food are very good and add some variety. I particularly liked the cucumbers and the tofu ones. The restaurant is small, but nicely decorated and calm.

Got bulgogi - I dont like to exaggerate, but this was actually literally THE worst bulgogi I have ever eaten in my life. It was similar to beef that had been boiled in water, and then slapped onto a semi-warm hot plate and some watered down soya sauce. TL;DR - if you like flavorless and dry beef - bulgogi here is your dish.

Hardly no service. Maybe they are short of stuff. But you cant just yield to your ready-to-order customers that "I told you blahblah". Plus the food quality is not good at all comparing to all other Korean restaurants that Ive been to.

Great Korean entry in Mountain View. While the side dish selection is limited here compared to bigger family style restaurants, the Bulgogi and spicy pork are excellent. Try the seafood pancake (해물파전) as well.

Food is good, service is really really good. Got the bibimbap - it was sizzling and flavorsome. Also, they had the courtesy to tell me what all had fish sauce - which is rare. Highly recommend.
