I have had sushi in every major city including most of the Midwest. The food was good but not excellent. The service was absolutely terrible. First of all we had a reservation for 8 oclock. Granted it was for 11 people but well past the dinner hour on a Friday night. The manager told us we couldnt be seated right away because they just seated a table of 9 in our seats. Really? Thats what a reservation is for. We reserved that table. He did seat us around 8 oclock. However, our waitress, Amanda V was horrendous. She took 20 minutes to take our drink order. We thought she was taking our dinner order but oh were we wrong. Only drinks. She then came back twenty minutes later WITHOUT drinks and took our appetizer order. Finally we got our drinks 40 minutes later and made our food order. We were in town for a wedding and everyone was ready to drink and have fun, no matter the cost. We all make good money and wouldve gladly given a phenomenal tip for average service. She was sub par. After our food didnt arrive an hour later, and our drinks were empty I went to the bar and ordered some drinks. The bartender was great. I talked to the manager and he said he could help. We got our bill and. Nothing was comped. We were charged 18% gratuity. The waitress literally made $120 on the table. She didnt deserve a dime. I talked to the manager when we were leaving and he offered no remedy. I would love to talk with the o

Food was terrible but service and atmosphere was good! The rice used for their sushi was under cooked and hard. Too much sesame were used in their rolls that it over powered the taste of the fish and everything else. The fish does not seem to be too fresh and its cold. Their korean BBQ was drowning in very salty sauce and its cook on hot plate. If you want good korean BBQ, it needs to be grilled! The place seems like a good place to drink and talk but NOT for good food. The good service can not make up for its bad food. Saw some good reviews for this place so maybe its just that one day? But I will never go back. Also, what is up with their restrooms? The bill was $65 before tips for 2 people which included 2 korean BBQ dishes, 2 rolls, 1 cocktail and a diet coke. My friend said "wow the service was great, the server kept asking if the food was good. We need to pay her 20% tip." and I said "Yeah cause she know the food is bad hahaha."

Sat. 11JAN14 Went with a friend to use a Groupon deal. We each had a glass of white wine (decent), shared an order of pan fried gyoza (5 pieces, overall acceptable, but not much taste) and "Bhudda pouch" (5 pieces, crab rangoon - very good, somewhat small, interesting taste). We shared a caterpillar roll (AMAZING!! we recommended it to the couple who sat down next to us as we were finishing), a California roll (6 pieces, acceptable flavor but nothing special), and a shitake roll (6 small pieces, tasty!). Service was acceptable, noise level was acceptable, tables a bit small, parking is terrible (which is the main reason I didnt give it 5 stars). Forgot to mention, this place is _not_ currently posted, so lawfully-armed citizens are welcome. My friend & I were both armed.

The experience was unbelievable. We had a reservation (just for 2), and the waitress had NO clue what was going on in the kitchen. She did not know about the fish or the sushi or anything. I ordered bass and she asked me how I wanted it cooked. "Well-done", I said. I could not believe what she had asked. The music was horrific and super loud. To make things worse, the food came and it was quite disappointing. We spent 100 dollars (w/ 2 glasses of wine) and it blew! When I mentioned something to the waitress, she gave me the "stink eye". Will never go back there again. The decor is not even all that. And seating is not comfortable at all.

Albeit a bit pricey, thats what you expect from sushi. Ive gone twice this month and sat at the bar. Bartender Tom served us and he is an absolute delight. He is the definition of friendly available and quick, and he is really great to talk to when the bar isnt busy. The sushi was not generous but it was very good and if you ask for the desert menu, they have some uncommon items. The sushi is priced according to how much you get. If you order a $4 vegetarian roll, dont expect a whole plate, on the other hand the more expensive seafood rolls are fairly generous.

Eating sushi at Sake Tumi is one of my favorite memories of my time living in Milwaukee, which was over three years ago. It was my first time eating sushi, and definitely not my last. In fact, the experience was so good I still go back to Sake Tumi at least twice a year. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is great, and they have a fully stocked bar. I signed up for their email newsletter, which instantly nets you a free appetizer, plus they send you some good deals on your birthday, anniversary and Mothers Day and Fathers Day.

It sure is tough to get a consensus from the variety of reviews here! I had a pretty good experience at Sake Tumi, although I will say the service was slow. The food was good, and it is a bit overpriced not because its necessarily high in quality, but moreso because its on the "trendy" Milwaukee Street strip of restaurants and bars. The atmosphere is cool, the food is pretty good, the service is mediocre. That is my take. It wouldnt be my 1st choice of restaurant to go to for sushi (Nanakusa is much better in my opinion).

Not impressed. We got a half-price group deal and dined at Sake Tumi for my birthday celebration. The service was TERRIBLE, the bathroom situation was a disaster (mens room on main level was closed off, womens smelled like a porta potty), and the food was below average. It felt more like a social spot for the servers and their friends than a public restaurant. I would have been extremely upset had we paid full price. Next time, I will stick with Kitcho in Fort Atkinson.

Waiter was hovering and rushing despite our direct request to stop. Bimbi-bop was way over cooked. Tempura was not fully cooked and the veggies were dry. Omakase shouldnt be so regimented and the same its meant as a unique experience and expression. The waiter also tried to question our drink order of a bottle of sake and made us all feel like we didnt deserve it. There is much cheaper much better sushi available in Milwaukee. I suggest you go elsewhere

Sake Tumi is great the food is reasonable, the service and staff was excellent. Came to Sake Tumi after leaving another sushi restaurant whose service was not the best. My party was sat right away and we had a lot of fun. This was are first time at Sake Tumi and the waiter took the time to explain what was on the menu and his recommendation. All of the food we had was great and very fresh. I would recommed this restaurant and will come back again.

The food was delicious and the half off apps happy hour special is amazing. We did have a mishap with our entree. We ordered the nambi udon that sounded amazing with shrimp, scallops and octopus but when it came, it only had a single shrimp. The service was amazing and they comped the entree and even gave us a free California roll. All in all one of the best service weve had in a while. Well definitely go again!
