I feel bad whenever I have to write a bad review. So I always visit a place multiple times to give them the benefit of the doubt. We have been to Port of Call many times before it switched to Pier 106 and have had many bad experiences. I thought that maybe since they changed some things up it would be better, I was wrong. First off we went last night and it is common knowledge that Bruce Springsteen was in town as well as a show at the Riverside. The restaurant was half full and still somehow completely understaffed. We had a reservation, we were seated and ordered drinks and apps. Of course our Apps came but the bar was "behind" we didnt get our first drink until we had finished our apps. The staff continued to apologize. I then tried to order the same "specialty" drink as it was pretty good. Of course they ran out of the liquor they needed "They didnt expect a rush". When I asked for their specials they told me there were none but they have an app and drink special which obviously is a little late since we already had apps and drinks, they forgot to give us that special menu which they gave to us later. I ordered a lobster pancetta pasta and my girlfriend ordered stuffed salmon. We waited an exorbitant amount of time for our food.. keep in mind the restaurant is only half full and didnt expect this "rush" which by looking at an events calendar could have been predicted by anyone. Rock Bottom had reservations booked out for a week, how could Pier 106 not do any research. We finally got our food, my girlfriend liked her stuffed Salmon a lot. My pasta was TERRIBLE, I dont think you could under cook noodles more, you could literally stick a fork in the noodles and pick up half of the dish, it looked like ramen. It was VERY disappointing. Our server was very nice and he apologized about 15 times for everything, I felt bad for him. He did give us free desert which was nice but I will never go back to Pier 106 ever again. Its unfortunate I had to write a bad review but when you have been to a location 6 times and had 4-5 bad experiences you have to. The Edelweiss cruises and the location might be the only thing keeping this restaurant afloat. It needs a massive overhaul, the recent changes are not enough.

I dont even know where to start! When we walked into the restaurant, no one was there to greet us. We were just about to leave when someone came up to us and asked if we had been helped. We got seated and asked about the lunch special that was going on today. The waitress brought us dinner menus. (not lunch menus) There was only one other table of three in the whole restaurant, but that didnt mean we would get our food quickly. Our waiter brought 2 salads, and then had to ask what the other two people ordered. We waited another 3 or 4 minutes, and then the other salads came out. The food was unspectacular, and the presentation stunk. Our waiter came and asked us if we wanted anything else or just the bill? We replied that we would like our dessert that we had ordered. When it came time for the bill, we put the money in the black folder, and it was the fastest the waiter had been all day. He didnt say thank-you or ask if we needed any change. I now know why there was only one other table occupied. We had been here often in the past, but its not the same as it was months ago. The wait staff needs to be replaced.

This was possibly the worst dining experience we have had. We had a reservation and arrived 5 minutes early. We were told when we were seated that it would be about 10 minutes before wait staff would be available but that someone would come over and bring us water and get drink orders. 10 minutes later, no water, no drinks. Finally after 20 minutes, I went to talk to the hostess (her second day on the job) and she came over and took our drink orders. 10 minutes later our drinks show up via the hostess. Obviously they had no wait staff as the hostess also took our food order and delivered it to our table. Any well managed restaurant knows what their capacity is and doesnt seat more people than they can serve. Obviously Port of Call does not fall into the category of well managed restaurant. At least the hostess stepped up to the plate. The food was marginal. Fish tacos were awful but the crusted salmon was pretty good but a little overcooked and dry.

Came for oysters, but they dont serve oysters. We decided to go somewhere else for the oysters but still ordered a round of drinks (sangria and a Jameson neat). The only fruit in the sangria was a cherry or two (what???), and the Jameson had a bug in it!!! We very politely and subtly informed the bartender of the bug, he apologized and offered to replace it. We declined and just asked for the check. To our surprise, we were charged full price for the Jameson even though we didnt drink it because of the bug! We tried to be understanding of the fact that "s*** happens," but what prompted me to write this review was how the issue was handled, in other words, the customer service (not even the actual bug itself!!!)..... It just seemed really out of line that they charged full price for a beverage that wasnt consumed because of a bug.... Needless to say, that will be our first and LAST visit to this resaturant....

I stopped by recently with a friend not expecting too much and was thrilled with my experience. The service was excellent starting the minute we walked in, we were greeted by the wonderful bartenders, Alex and Becky. We sat on the patio with the gorgeous weather and enjoyed two of their specialty drinks, I had the boat juice and my friend had the hurrricane. Our waitress Katie recommended the artichoke and spinach dip as a starter for their half-off all appetizers happy hour, which was delightful. I tried the scallops for my entre with a ceaser side salad, both of which were to die for, the scallops were some of the best Ive ever had. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves seafood, and some true Wisconsin cuisine. I will definitely be returning!

We had reservations for 6-8 people last Thursday prior to the ballet and 6 of us showed up and were seated promptly. Our waitress and other wait staff were aware of our time constraints and encouraged us to order our dinners after we ordered our drinks and were socializing. They were more in tune to our schedule than we were, thankfully. And we all ordered different dinners from the menu and we all had fabulous food with award winning presentations. We hope to return often and recommend your restaurant to everyone we know looking for excellent downtown dining. Also, while waiting for our friends we sat at the bar and the bartender was very cordial and explained specifically and proudly the ingredients in the White Sangria which was excellent. Thank you.

A delightful little restaurant very conveniently located near the PAC and the Riverside Theater. My guiding light and myself had a wonderful meal at a reasonable price. I had the Walleye and my lady had the seafood casserole. The Walleye could have been seasoned just a bit more for my taste (I am big on spices) but the pretzel crust was perfect and the presentation was artful. The Walleye did melt in my mouth. The Seafood casserole is something that I will order next time. Filled with chunks of fish, mussels, shrimp, all blended with a delightful sauce. The wife couldnt stop raving about it. The service was excellent. Not a place with plush atmosphere but very comfortable. Certainly a restaurant that we would go to again.
