For a typical Mexican menu, the food is anything but typical. This is comfort food to the max. Every joint selling enchiladas and burritos should taste this good. The margaritas are not too sweet, the pico de gallo is absolutely fresh, the arbol salsa hot and smoky, and every main dish I have eaten has been satisfying. In this day and age, its difficult to know what "authentic" and "genuine" mean. Does it mean staying true to a culinary tradition that is wide, varied, dynamic, and evolving? Does it mean that the food has, to put it simply, been made by someone of the corresponding ethnic group? What? I think Rick Bayless would love this place. Its quiet and friendly and I find myself going back nights in a row. I leave feeling profoundly satisfied. Seemingly simple food is executed with attention to details and pride in the craft of cooking. You owe it to yourself to try some of the best Mexican food in Milwaukee at Guadalajara.

The best Mexican soups in Milwaukee. When I moved from Mexico to Milwaukee, one of the first things I did was to look for a Mexican restaurant. I got recommendations to eat at La Perla, Botanas, La Fuente, etc... But those places sucked when it came to traditional Mexican food. I couldnt find chicken soup, pozole, menudo... you know, stuff that people in Mexico eat. Finally, I found the Guadalajara restaurant and, my goodness!! They have the best pozole Ive tried in the US. Also, the chicken and beef soup are superb. Not only the quality and taste is great, the food is not expensive!! Since the first time I went to the Guadalajara restaurant, I havent been to any other mexican restaurant. The Guajalara has all I need. I go there regularly, but specially on Sunday, since that is my Pozole day.

I am in heaven! I have been looking for a place that sells authentic Mexican food for years and I finally found it! I live a little far but it is totally worth the drive. And the service is excellent. I almost wanted to offer a job to our waitress and then I remembered... the commute for her would be to far. Oh well Ill be seeing her soon anyway!

Im a bit of a Mexican food addict and Guadalajara is my easily favorite restaurant in Milwaukee. Good prices, comfortable and clean atmosphere, and a super friendly staff. Just a wholesome family business. The birria is the best Ive had.
