When I first walked in I had high expectations for this place. You can watch them roast a fair amount of beans so I was assumed it would be great espresso. Wow. Another lesson in making assumptions for me. Hands down the worst mocha Ive ever bought in my life. I drink a lot of espresso. Im not all that picky. Especially since at this point Id already gone a few days without. And still two sips and in the garbage it went. That after taste took longer to disappear. The staff didnt say or interact more than what do you want and to take my money. They were slow and as many others have review dis-interested. The latte art was nice, but it didnt make up for the taste. The atmosphere seemed to be good. We didnt stay long as I needed something to wash out that taste and wasnt about to buy anything from their counter.

Generally, I like this place. I go there, meet friends or sit by myself and read and write. At times the music is the only problem. it is loud and discordanant. Must not be too bad though cause I keep coming back. It is also pricey, so you have to limit yourself if you are on a budget, but then, what isnt these days? Weekends are very crowded, so get there early. Be kind, follow the rules, four-tops for two or more.Today, I spotted a father and his very young daughter unable to find a seat inside, so they were seated ouside. It was very cold, so when I was about to vacate my table, I went and told them, so they could come in out of the cold. The father expressed his gratitude. Normally, I would have left it up for grabs, but I felt for this father and his young daughter, so my good deed was done for the day!

I love Colectivo in general. This location has a great demographic. Its a mixture of college students, local residents, and professionals on the go. You can sit inside and watch as they bag coffee beans. During the warm months, you can sit outside and enjoy the weather. Many people read books or work on their laptops while sipping their drinks. Their sandwiches and soups are delicious. I love the baked oatmeal and smoothies!

Had a egg and smoked cheddar biscuit. The egg was less than a fast food restaurant in quantity and the biscuit no kidding 5-6 times the size. The "smoked cheddar" tasted processed and it all cost just $6. I told the woman at the counter and she told me they know and have made comments but no one listens. They also had all light roasts and one medium. ...where is the variety? ...even Starbucks has a dark roast.

While I was disappointed when they sold the Alterra name, Colectivo is still among the best cafes in town. The colorful atmosphere and quality food and drink keep delivering. The roastery on Humboldt is a cool experience being able to watch and smell them roast during the week. As any popular place will have, long lines and a wait, but find the right time to go, and youll get in and on your way!

Fantastic coffee shop in a great location! Buses stop right on the corner, making this a great place to meet up to study or work on a project. There is outdoor seating (including two swings!) for when the weather is nice. Drinks are great, especially the chai tea and the featured smoothies. Food is delicious, the only problem is that the food isnt made on location, so you cant make changes to it.

This is a terrible location, terrible burnt coffe and terrible service. I think that this location is not an ideal coffe house. I mean look around, I am to pay $5.00 for a cup of coffe when there are houses around me with duct tape windows on them. I do not feel safe in this neighborhood and Alterra should have thought again about placing this coffe house here.

I have tasted a wide selection of the menu here and have yet to be disappointed. The service is always bright and polite. Did I mention the great coffee? To comply with full disclosure regulations, I must admit to owning four woolen Colectivo / Alterra watch caps and four baseball type caps. I may have a Tshirt kicking around somewhere too.

Breakfast and lunch only. Absolutely fresh ingredients with many very unique options, like common breakfast items from other countries. Gets busy so go early, especially on weekends. Good for families, has kids option that is good rather than typical stuff. No booze, so dont go if you want a bloody mary!

Slacking in the vegan department. My friends and I can never go because they dont have any vegan bakery. The staff never has any idea if something is vegan in the bakery either. One time the staff told me something was vegan and I later found out it wasnt. Not very vegan friendly in Milwaukee.

Every time I go to this location I leave irritated. The service is awful. Does anyone manage the cafe? Drinks take forever to make even when there is little to no traffic. My suggestion would be to start hiring some adults who are friendly instead of a bunch of bearded slackers.

Really authentic coffee shop serving delicious drinks and other baked goods. Open view to the roasting facilities that supply their coffee makes for interesting backdrop. Only issue is that seating is a bit limited, so can be very crowded with people taking up spaces for hours.

I love going to Collectivo! Its one of the stops on my walks. Their hot or iced Chai is delish! The food is good quality and I like the staff! Such a valued addition to Riverwest and I hope it never leaves. I highly recommend Collectivo and you just gotta try the Turkey Club!

It gets a little loud with the coffee beans grinding during the day, but the white noise helps me do work. Food is a little pricey, but thats the nature of the beast at a coffee shop, and it tastes great so Ill live. Every employee is super friendly

Very Beautiful establishments all around the city. This one is a perfect location with a very diverse and friendly staff and the people that visit are great also.Food is fresh and the drinks are great.My favorite is the mango,peach, ginger smoothie.

Great place to get great coffee! The whole neighborhood smells like roasting coffee beans during the week. My only complaint about Colectivo is that their chai is weak and mostly tastes like milk. But Ive enjoyed most of their other beverages!

Super fun to watch coffee get made here while you enjoy one of Colectivos infamous drinks - smoothies, espresso, coffee...... milkshakes. All so darn good. The desserts here are fabulous as well. I love taking home a slice of pie when I can.

Collectivo is a Milwaukee standard -- the coffee has a bit of a bitterness that reminds me of something burned, but lots of folks like it. The specialty drinks are amazing (Mocha Shake!) and the food options are lighter fare, but delicious.

A little bit loud because it is also a bakery. There isnt a wall between the bakery and the eating area. Its interesting to watch them use the industrial size mixers. There is an outdoor dining area that is protected from the wind.

Such yummy iced mochas, and that swing outside its nice all alone. Sometimes I wonder what the hand of a woman would be like sitting there together enjoying our coffee, but I guess I just got too old and too fat for women.
