This is bar far and away the beat treasure of the E. Panhandle and THE best coffee shop that I have ever been in. It has a phenomenal vibe and very light atmosphere that embodies that of the town. It is welcoming for a quick stop and go or a prolonged stay to enjoy your treat. Only one very important recommendation, always check to see if the town needs you to help pay their bills via their parking meter collection system (i think it is 9-5 Mon-Fri but double check on the meter) They are strict! Thank you Garth for being a staple of Shepherdstown for many years!

The hubs and I stopped by yesterday after a jazz festival nearby in the morning. We were shocked, and incredibly happy, to find a little gem like this in such an inconspicuous location. The decor was unique, the mocha and coffee we got were wonderful, the staff was pleasant and helpful and the prices were more than reasonable! We dont live in the area but I wish I could bring this cafe back home with me.

Very cool atmosphere, not a lot of food options, but coffee is outstanding. I mean really, really great. They also have quite a large local goods selection from meats to honey to soaps/lotions, and jams. Friendly staff too. The guy, Chris, outside selling Jamaican chicken should also be mentioned. Thursdays and Fridays March through November he is cooking food that is pretty delicious too.

When it comes down to fine quality coffee with the beans imported and freshly roasted on site, along with talented singers performing, you will not find a better coffee shop. The Black Dog Coffee is one of the best coffee shops you will ever fine. You wont be disappointed ! ! ! ! Youll find the owners the most loving, caring and talented people you will ever know.

Excellent coffee, knowledgeable staff, and everyone is very pleasant. Its easy to talk about the coffee, even when they are busy. Their building is quaint, and comfortable to sit around. Its not furnished like a Panera or Starbucks, but what you lose in comfortable chairs you more than make up for with top-tier coffee.

Everything is a dark roast. And by dark, I mean the coffee tastes like it was roasted in the fifth circle of Hell, left out in the desert sun, and then thrown into the oven. Burnt to death. They only get one star because there really is a black dog at the shop. He seemed pretty rad. 10/10 would not drink again.

This place is the closest thing to walking into heavens doors for me.. THE best coffee anywhere.. and all the wonderful locally made goodies. Lotions, soaps, essential oils, honey, jams, syrups... just all kinds of great things.. I make a weekly stop and treat myself to SOMETHING wonderful and its great!

This place is wonderful; elegant drinks hot or cold, warming almost home like atmosphere, and to top it all off wonderful owners who care for their local people! They have helped several people(with my knowledge) and hold a farmers market! We need more small businesses like the black dog!

Love love love this coffee!! I used to live in the area and I remember when it first started out, selling at the farmers market and hand delivering. The prices have gone up a little since then but it is one good cup of coffee! I stop there every time I come to WV for a visit.

Always warm and receptive, family interaction and EXCELLENT COFFEE - best part is the older-than-old roaster in action - kids should go on a field trip to Black Dog Coffee to see how its done. (dont forget to look up when entering - youll be pleasantly surprised)

Friendly, knowledgeable staff and a relaxed atmosphere with nouveau-rustic decor. Many homemade-style goods for purchase, yum. But its really about the coffee. You have to try the coffee. And stay for refills. And take some with you. And come back later.

Their coffee is decent. I go occasionally to purchase some fresh roasted beans to bring home. This is the only issue I have, they hardly ever have the dark roast available to purchase. I end up driving all the way there and coming home empty handed.

They are friendly and draw cute creations in your coffee. I received a free refill when I dropped my coffee out and about that day. I returned to the shop later in the day. I was having a bad day and it cheered me up tremendously.

Deducting 2 stars for a 40% increase in prices for the same product. Disappointed my daily coffee stop wont be daily anymore. Cold brew recipe has changed and unfortunately the taste has as well.

Meh, I want to like this place but something about the way they roast their beans. Some folks love it but I never acquired a taste for it. Try it out, its a cute place and has friendly staff.

Great local coffee shop. The staff are friendly and helpful. During warmer months, grab a Chilly Dog (iced coffee) and take a walk on the bike path across the street.

I want to love my local coffee roasters, but I usually skip and go home when I need another cup. They are friendly but somewhat slow.

I love the small batch roasting. The atmosphere is also great. The fact they allow people to being their dogs is a huge bonus to me.

Local boutique, yet rustic coffee and organic foods. A little more expensive that typical for the area, but really good coffee.

Great local coffee shop that roasts its own beans. They also have a large number of local goods including honey, meats, pastries.
