Went for a weekend trip to do some wine tastings around Charlottesville and Salt was highly recommended by a friends who are friends with the owner. The owner is so sweet and friendly and the food is amazing! The sandwiches (I had the gruyere, fig, and bacon sandwich) are unique and are the perfect thing to get before wine tastings. It is very close to Jefferson Vineyard (which was my favorite on this wine trip) and also close to other wineries in the area.

Today I met a very rude employee. I have a broken back and partially collapsed lung. I was dropped off there just for a second so I could get a ride to school from someone else. I was told not come back unless Im a paying customer, that is no way to treat a disabled human being. I was going to come try a sandwich one day soon since I go to school 5 minutes away, but honestly I get treated better at subway.

Artisinal food and personal service. Andouille was fantastic, also liked the eggplant. Tasty bread. Root beer made with honey was good. Reasonable prices. Midway between Jefferson (Monticello) and Monroe (Ash Lawn - Highland). Much better than the cafe at Monticello. Outdoor seating. Be careful of the stone pillars when backing up from parking--they are from when it was an old gas station.

I just tried Salt for the first time last week and it is so unfortunate that I didnt sooner. This little gem is truly one of the best (if not the best) restaurant(s) Ive been to in Charlottesville. The grilled cheese is life-changing (I had not, in my life before, bought a GC at a restaurant). Additionally, the staff is quite lovely and the store, charming. It will be missed.

Really nice sandwich shop hiding in plain sight. The special when I went was a lamb-fennel bratwurst sandwich with collard greens and smokey onions. One of the best sandwiches Ive had in a long time, and I wish I could have taken some of those brats home with me! You can tell a lot of care goes into the food that is prepared here. Ill definitely be going back to try more.

Incredible gourmet sandwiches and lunch fare. Hand crafted meats and cheeses, artisanal chips and crackers, refreshing and unique sodas and seltzers. Perfect stop before or after Monticello. Interesting selection of food gift items and artsy jewelry made by one of the chefs! Small unassuming store at a country cross-roads, an unexpected delight! Highly recommend!

This quaint, cozy, and delicious little shop is great for a stop while on the western Cville wine trail or after visiting Monticello. Set right in a sharp turn on route 53 right before Jefferson vineyards, it has a beautiful view and sandwiches that are well worth the drive. Always check the specials board as you walk in.

Stopped here on a ride back to Baltimore, MD from Charlottesville, VA. The location was perfect. The place is small but nice. The menu is sandwhich fare, but slightly pricey. Bottled water, tea. No sides, bagged chips extra. I had the BLT. It was fantastic. Tomato was delicious. Friendly staff.

I got the seasonal grilled cheese with ham. It was very tasty! Kind of small for the price, I felt, but very yummy. Its a little hard to get into this place because its right on a corner, but the woman in charge seemed very passionate about her food and they had some really unique options

Great find. The croque monsieur and andouille sandwich were amazing. We will be back to grab some sandwichs for our next picnic. The owner is really awesome. Go support your local small business and eat some great food at the same time.

Worth stopping in. Beautiful stone building which is a restored old-school gas station. Food was excellent. They try hard for quality. Not a lot of seating, but we enjoyed the outdoor picnic table on a perfect fall day.

Highly recommended! Loved the chicken salad sandwich. We stopped on our way back from blenheim vineyard. Friendly service, good coffee, and they will prepare a picnic for you to carry to the vineyards nearby!

Friendly service, delicious sandwiches. The drinking chocolat hits the spot for non-sugar lovers. Worth the small drive beyond Monticello, or the stop before/after the vineyard or Monroe tours.

The perfect place to stop for a quick breakfast and coffee on the way to work for those who commute to Charlottesville from out in the country. Good prices and a nice, simple atmosphere.

Wonderful, local food from some great people. Always a pleasure to visit and taste their latest recipes. One of my very favorite places in town. Lovely location, but parking is scarce.

A great spot to get some food before heading over to Jefferson Vineyards for some wine tasting. Call ahead to order sandwiches to pick up as it can get very busy on the weekends.

Beautiful place. Food was as fresh as it comes. Delicious combination of flavors made the experience a more than pleasant one. Highly recommend getting the fennel sausage.
