The sushi at this restaurant is AMAZING. You wouldnt expect to find such good sushi in a small town like Yelm. However, I can honestly say that its second only to the little hole in the wall sushi restaurant I went to in Vancouver BC, where everyone spoke Japanese and it was as authentic as you can get. Kinja has consistently proven they have fresh ingredients, delicious sushi rolls, and decent prices. While not the cheapest, you definitely get quality for the price you pay. Expect to pay $5-$12 per roll. I do agree with the reviews that speak of a minimal amount of servers, however the sushi is worth waiting for, and while it takes a while to get served on a busy day, they are friendly and personable.

The first time we tried Kinja there were flies inside the restaurant landing on our plates, the prices are that of a "nice" sushi restaurant, but the atmosphere and decor are lacking. On our second visit the service was good but there were flies again. I noticed they had raised their prices so we decided its worth the 20 minute drive to Lacey to get sushi that is fresher and more affordable. Also their online menus are not up to date (they are more expensive than they state) We will never go here again, I hope this helps for people looking to dine out in the Yelm area.

My wife and I came in at 7pm on a Saturday. The restaurant had seemingly gotten busy quickly and the hostess let us know that it would be "a while". Even though there were 20% of the tables still open, apparently they did not have staff to accommodate. In any case, we waited about 15 minutes to have our order placed, and about 40 minutes for our food even though we were promptly seated. We ordered 4 sushi rolls, and overall I would give them a 6 / 10 on flavor, and an 8 / 10 on presentation. I would go back, but only during a non busy time.

Eat here regularly. One of my favorite places. Sushi is excellent, with large rolls and generous amounts of fish and veggies. Atmosphere is open and light. Service is friendly and prompt. On busy nights there can be a bit of a wait, but that is to be expected. They do need to time there meals better, on several occasions weve ordered teriyaki and sushi and the teriyaki came 10 - 15 minutes later, though overall we have had wonderful dining experiences, and we highly recommend this establishment.

Love this place! The lady who has served us all three times we have come is super nice. My husband loves sushi but I dont so I got the teriyaki and it was so good! Usually I feel like teriyaki is an after thought at places like this, but not here! My husband also loved the sushi! We will be back for sure.

Very good Bento box I had the teriyaki steak and my wife had the chicken. Service was good and friendly. The only reason they didnt get five stars was I discovered after finishing my Diet Coke. I was drinking out of someone elses dirty glass. Kinda puts a damper on a great meal.

Chef Kim is an amazing Sushi artist. His skill is only up staged by the freshness of the fish/shellfish. I travel all over the US and have been very fortunate to have eaten in some fantastic Sushi restaurants, and Kinja is at the top of my list. Go you wont be disappointed!

Worst service ever. I asked for a portion size and i, the customer was told no. On my way to leave our waitress CHASED us out the door, calling me RUDE?! SHITIEST RESTAURANT EVER. there were so many flies and I waited over an hour before we got waited on

Excellent sushi and a friendly staff. Not one bad experience in all the times we have been there, even once on a busy Friday night when the two girls were so busy flying around likw pin balls they were still very sweet and attentive. Full stars!

They are nominally staffed to deal with customers. The food is excellent but I had to wait over half an hour to get my takeout because someone left their single phone line off the hook so I couldnt place my order over the phone.

We went here for dinner on a Friday night. The restaurant was only very little busy. We bordered beef teriyaki and a sushi California roll. The sushi came within 10 minutes, I waited almost an HOUR on the teriyaki!!!

The food tasted good, but they did not have a large selection of entrees. The california roll was imitation crab and tasted bad. The really bad news...tore my stomach up for the entire night. Will not go back there.

When they were in TACOMA wa. It was my favorite sushi and the only place to get GREAT TEA, I AM JUST DELIGHTED to find them again! Even IF I have to drive all the way to Yelm from Tacoma....ITS STILL WORTH IT!

Clean and yummy food. Pricing is not bad at all for what you get. The Yakisoba is great and the bento boxes are worth every penny. Good for a date or even for a family night out

Food is just ok. Many sushi ingredients are fake. Service is awful, and we have walked out twice because every table in the restaurant was dirty.... EVERY TABLE!

This "Kim" guy makes the worst sushi. Treats his waitresses even worse. Please tip them well. The sushi is horrible, and the food is mediocre at best.
