I like this place but the coffee is expensive and theres not a lot of flexibility. I personally like Starbucks coffee better. I can see that Im in the minority here, but I do drink a lot of coffee. The last time I visited River Maiden I got a pour-over and it was not good. Go ahead and tell me Im crazy, but my coffee at River Maiden has just been average. Maybe I just havent ordered the right thing yet. Last time I was there, my coffee cup was not full (upon purchase) and when I asked for it to be filled completely, they did it, but they told me that they werent supposed to and that they shouldnt have. Not exactly friendly and maybe pinching pennies just a little bit too much. Also, while the atmosphere was nice, it was nothing to write home about.

I cannot emphasize enough how amazing these guys are - well-made, delicious coffee; friendly, personable baristas; daily pastries that were delectable. I was visiting my hometown with some friends from the East Coast in tow and needed a good place to caffeinate the crew - River Maiden rose to the challenge and then some. The suggestions they gave us for drinks to try (there and elsewhere), brews to check out, must-see hikes and hot-spots were spot on. We were all able to find something that satisfied the varied taste buds and get us rolling for our day trips. They will definitely be my staple coffee shop whenever Im in town!

This place is amazing. Stumptown to start, so you know they know how to make a proper cup of coffee. I personally drink lattes and have yet to find a place with a good smooth taste like here. The staff is top notch. Friendly, hardworking, and they care about the people that come there. They know your name by the third visit. And when they talk to you, you feel welcome, not serviced like a chain. Treats in the case are tasty and they recently added some new variety from another local business, Treat Bakery. I drive out of my way to come to this place and i highly suggest you do the same.

River Maiden is the best espresso and coffee Ive found in Vancouver. And...Im one of those snobby ex Portland baristas! As a bonus, the staff and owners are some of the nicest people you are likely to meet all day. Tasty pastries, plenty of seating in an open, and light environment. If you live in the "Couve", you have to make them your go to place, if you live in Portland...you could learn something from these folks.

Quaint, quiet and neighborhood focused, River Maiden is a great neighborhood coffee shop. Newly renovated, River Maiden provides lots of space for the usual crowd of keyboard smashing coffee enthusiasts. Expect at times families with young children, but nothing too distracting or loud. Overall, cute place, good drinks and ample desk space equates to a solid coffee shop.

It was my first time here and they didnt have a menu so I asked for a recommendation and received a latte with 4 shots of espresso (I wanted a lot of shots). Needless to say it was the most perfect latte Ive ever had! The amount of foam was perfect and the quality of the coffee was amazing! I will definitely be back again! So happy to have found this little gem!

I like this place very much. I would give it a 8 out of 10 on my scale of like. Service is always amicable and swift. The coffee drinks are always excellent. The pastries and bagels are great too. Oh - and I happen to like the music they play in here too - Death Cab for Cutie and the like. Keep it up, River Maiden. "Vantucky Strikes Back!"

EDIT! River Maiden is currently between brick and mortar residences, thus they are a coffee hut for the moment. The seating areas are gone but the owners are actively moving the coffee shop soon to a new indoor location. The coffee is, as ever, excellent. Extremely quality coffee in a relaxed atmosphere.

This is my favorite place to cozy up with a notebook and pen, grab a hazelnut latte and settle in. Always best if you can avoid the weekend crowd (its a popular place after church for some folk) and the baristas are knowledgeable, chatty and on their customer service game.

First time visitor even though I live a couple miles away. Im not a fan of Starbuck coffee and like independent coffee shops. The coffee and service is good. The have outside seating and a separate living style room with couches and standard chair/table setup.

Don’t settle for generic – For the price of modern coffee you should get something delicious and served with something extra. From cups to character these guys are above and beyond any of the chains. Just wish they were closer to me, but its worth the drive.

I have always loved this place. Great coffee and great service. I was there today and when I ordered the guy asked me what I was up to today and when I said I was looking for a job, he gave me my coldbrew for free! That would never happen at Starbucks!

Everything is brewed to perfection, but the best part is that the staff is incredibly friendly. Theyll get to know you and your favorite beverages, which makes for a wonderfully welcoming environment. All in all, my absolute favorite coffee house.

lame ploy – These small shops all come up with some next big thing to get people in and cause a stir (no pun intended), just so they can overcharge for mediocre products. Price is high, coffees not much better than anywhere else.

Good coffee & good people. Theyve built a strong sense of community in this area otherwise known as suburbia. Always a vibrant atmosphere. And they have a sense of humor. Vantucky Strikes Back. How can you beat that?

Had the colbert on nitro on my first visit. The service was great, they love making coffee here. The cold brew on nitro was just perfection. Creamy, smooth Stumptown. So happy to have come across this place!

Delicious coffee, tons of wonderful Stumptown choices and every brewing type known to coffee shops world wide. I suggest trying a cold brew, they are delicious and without any of the acid of normal coffee!

My all time favorite coffee shop for over five years running. Best choice for coffee in all of Vancouver! I often drive fifteen to twenty minutes out of my way just to get this awesome coffee!

I love this place - the kind folks who work here, the relatively chill customer base, and lots of awesome seating options for teleworking, chilling on your laptop, or catching up with someone

Great coffee but the service was not so good. At first I thought this person was just having a bad day. I went there the second time and it was the same unfriendly service all over again.

River Maiden is by far the best coffee in Vancouver with a highly knowledgeable staff and the best service around- and their shop is a great place to relax and enjoy the free wifi
