Great coffee served by knowledgeable and friendly staff. Well worth the price. I visited this "Mecca" of coffee on a recent visit from the UK and couldnt recommend it enough. Fantastic, albeit fairly pricey, coffee served by really knowledgeable staff. Had a great chat with one about V60 pour-over best practice and he gave me a few great tips. To top it off I got a free sample of their ridiculously expensive Grand Cru coffee ($74 a bag according to one website - havent confirmed this though!) when I bought one of their single origins - which I have just used and is absolutely delicious. Portlanders know this: youre extremely lucky to have a Stumptown in your backyard - us Londoners are rather jealous!

After the first Stumptown experience I wasnt too sure what to think, but after visiting this location my mind has been changed. This location is awesome, its located/next to a hotel lobby. The guy taking our order was great, he didnt rush us and helped my sister find something to order even though she isnt a coffee lover. We told him it was our first time and he hooked us up with a free drink, thanks again! We paid $6 for a cappuccino and two cold brew coffees. Score! I even decided to buy some whole bean coffee to take home and they helped me decide, giving me the rundown on the different beans they sell. Great service, great coffee, great place. Id definitely come back.

The owners of stumptown are arrogant schmucks. One of them came into my business (ATT) once. When i looked up his account i saw he was on the Stumptown business account. He told me he was one of the owners. I then (being a coffee) lover tried to make small talk with him about his coffee. He wanted nothing to do with talking to me. Business owners have to remember they represent their business even outside of their business. Not only is their coffee not even that good. I will never have it again because of this experience.

I love Sumptowns coffee. They have all kinds of blends. Im in charge of stocking all the supplies at work, including coffee/tea, and this is the only coffee we buy. I went there just this weekend and picked up a cup and then took a stroll along Natio parkway. It was delightful. And, the staff are super friendly too. They also have a great selection of pastries. Its a big place. Lots of people were lounging around on their laptops. But, the music is kind of loud so it might not be the best place for studying.

I remember a couple years back Id see a long line outside over at this place and honestly thought that it was a place where the needy were getting food provisions. Come find out, its actually where people are waiting a long time to get a cup of joe. Anyways, this place is aweosme. The coffee is great. What can you say, it doesnt taste like burned grinds like the huge, mega chain everyone flocks to. Its nice to have a place that that you can go to that is local but consistent.

Stumptown Coffee at the ACE Hotel is my favorite Stumptown Coffee bar in all of Portland. The baristas are knowledgeable, friendly, and fairly quick; they have to be with all of the travelers coming through the ACE hotel. Pro-tip: get your coffee "for here" and take it up to the second floor mezzanine floor overlooking the main ACE lobby. Cozy up on the couches, grab a magazine (provided free of charge), and watch the day drift away.

I drink a lot of coffee, but not really the "good stuff". This is "the good stuff"! I was visiting PDX recently and everyone told me to visit Stumptown...so I obliged and did with the sole intention of saying that I went. They were actually right! Definitely worth the wait in line. This shop is a bit tinier than the rest so it may take a few more minutes to get through. They even had stevia, which was amazing!

I keep going back hoping to discover what it is everyone raves about. If you like straight up black coffee theres seems weak. Like coffee flavored water with an odd aftertaste. I like the vibe and the location is a mere few blocks from my apt. But their "bold" blend is less flavorful then a Starbucks Pikes Place. I seem to be the odd man out but I like a robust cup of coffee instead of a dainty micro blend.

This is my favorite Stumptown location in all of Portland. Sharing space at the Ace means more seating, either in the coffee shop, or upstairs at the more work-conducive spaces, on the comfy couch or at the desks. This is also a great meeting place for out of town guests, as its close to most hotels and easy to find on Stark, near public transit. And obviously, its Stumptown, so the beans are delicious.

Stumptown deserves all the credit they get. They changed the face of coffee in Portland and then stepped back and enabled other places to really flourish. Their Hair-bender blend is one of the best blends Ive ever had and their coffee is consistently across the board better than most cups in America. Are they the best in Portland? Depends. But does it matter? Stumptown is great coffee done well.

The best coffee ever. You can get stump town anywhere though, the reason to get it here is to hang out in the ace hotel. I love going to the first floor with a hot coffee and a paper. Its not very private, or particularly quiet if youre trying to study, but a relaxing place to go and appreciate the Portland scene while thoroughly enjoying any beverage you choose. Theres also a photo booth.

Couple staff guys were arrogant pricks. I came in 5 minutes before their close time and the guys already had f-off yelling face. I got coffee and asked for a napkin, one guy again says "we are closed" Came from Seattle for a weekend, all places I good cust service in downtown except this! I would not recommend it

The baristas really spend quality time making each cup delicious. A fantastic retreat for those typically rushing through Starbucks, Stumptown is the place to sit down a have a conversation. Connected to the Ace hotel, you can sip coffee while reading the morning news or flipping through a magazine in the hotel lobby.

Best coffee in town paired with the best staff. Drive an extra 20 mins passing upwards of 30 other possible options including closer Stumptown locations to go here every weekend. Always look forward to the experience and the area is great, hands down the top coffee in a town flush with amazing coffee options.

Probably the cafe Id go to if I were a socialite. I shared a chemex pot of a tangy, wine-like medium roast, which was well-prepared, but twice the price as Id get elsewhere at that quality. Their focus is on the coffee, so dont expect much creativity with what they offer, just the basics at high quality.

The coffee was good, possibly would have been better if the service was as more welcoming. I made a request and was shot down with a simple no. I requested a macchiato and again delivered a quick shoot down. If my guest had not already ordered, would have exited to find a more welcoming environment.

Perfect place to be served by waif-ish hipsters in the classic Portland style. Dont expect to be acknowledged, smiled at or greeted -- just be satisfied youre getting Portlands finest brew served by surliest, tattooed, under-fed, attic-dwelling, urbanites in the Pacific Northwest.
