Abhiruchi is hands-down the best Indian restaurant in the Portland/Vancouver area. I am an Indian food connoisseur. I am also a vegetarian. If youre looking for an Indian restaurant that has great food, amazing prices, and wonderful service, check out Abhiruchi. Here is why you should go: 1. Prices - Great value. Ordering meals "a la carte" gets you rice and naan along with your meal. They hook it up on the naan as well. Papadums are always brought prior to the meal. Ive eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants and this place is one of the cheapest - trust me. 2. Service - Every time I go here the same folks are working. They are extremely gracious and accommodating, and are some of the sweetest people ever. One time I ordered a meal "spicy" and it didnt seem spicy enough, though it tasted great and I was eating it anyway. Normally I wouldnt say anything, but they asked about it. They offered to make it more spicy, so they took it back to the kitchen and when they brought it back to the table it was filled to the brim and more than spicy enough. Every time I compliment them on the food after the meal all they say is "Please!". 3. Food - I can only speak to the vegetarian options. They have all the standards and they do them well. Their sauces and curries definitely have a lot of flavor. They tend to go easy on the spiciness of the dishes, so if you want it spicy, make sure to emphasize that. This place definitely has some of the tastiest Indian cuisine in town! I urge my fellow Portlanders to make the trip across the state line to go to this restaurant. Portland is not great for Indian food, in my opinion. If you want the best Indian food, Beaverton/Hillsboro and Vancouver are your options. Abhiruchi in Vancouver is where you need to go. Do it!

INSANELY GOOD! I moved down from Seattle where I used to eat out at least two meals every day. That being said, I am extremely picky. I found this place completely by accident while looking for a place to make a U-Turn. It is so hard finding a good restaurant let alone authentic Indian cuisine. It started with the sauces that they served with the complimentary flatbread. The flavors were amazing. I was excited for the food but curious as to if I would be let down with my entree. As I was really trying not to eat any more of the cracker like bread I was surprised that my meal came out super fast (as well as the others around my table). Now sometimes when you arrive at a restaurant later in the evening the food is kind of dry, not so here. The chicken that I had fell apart with the slice of my fork. The taste was exquisite. Since the portion was a nice size I planned on saving some for the next day. I COULDNT do it. I got halfway and decided to just take a few more bites, then a little tiny bit more, then what the heck, the whole plate! It was a delightful meal. Probably some of the best Indian food I have had including while I lived in Vancouver Canada the home of many East Indians. I live in Beaverton now but I will drive back probably once a week cause not only did I find MY Indian food spot, I found the first of my "Go To" restaurants. To top of the fact of Excellent food and Super Fast service, the prices are very reasonable. TRY IT your gonna love it.

For the most part, this place was awesome. A quaint little restaurant with amazing food and great service. The server was prompt, polite, and did his best to make sure everyone understood what they were ordering. One thing almost overshadowed the whole experience though. As we were leaving, the hostess grabbed my mother in law by the arm and told her that the server didnt share any of the tip with her (we were a group of 7 and the overall tip was probably around $25 at that point). So because they felt bad, my mom, my wife, and her mom all grabbed some 1 dollar bills. As my wife was about to give it to her, she snatched the money out of her hand and didnt even say thank you. I wasnt paying attention, so this is account is all gathered from 3 different perspectives. So either the restaurant is scamming good-tipping customers, or the hostess is scamming people by herself because of unfair treatment. Either way, it was extremely rude on her part because an issue like this shouldnt be the customers problem. If this issue didnt occur though, I would give this place 5 stars.

As a date night, my partner and I had great experiences here. I didnt remember every dish having spice, so we thought it would be safe to bring our gastronomically adventurous children, including the spice intolerant one. Even after a conversation with the server to help guide our choices, it turned out everything was spicy. Of course, the least spicy order came for the one who said he loves spice. BUT, the server kindly switched the meal for Little Mister No Spice and things progressed just fine. Our kids were a roller coaster of exclaiming "I love this! Its too spicy. Its great! Im so glad we came here. I dont like spice." As confused as we were as about these young critics words, we left full and happy. The four year old even called out a long unintelligible "thanks for the delicious food, I didnt like the spice, I loved dessert, youre most welcome" to the establishment as we left. (I believe we had scared away most other customers by then.) All this to say, a great place. I dont think I will bring the kids next time...

I cant believe I hadnt found this place sooner. Ive been going to Namaste in NE Portland for the past several months and have been disappointed by the food each time. A lot of people seem to love Namastes buffet, but maybe theyre not used to quality Indian food. The food was incredibly delicious -- I had the Lamb Pasanda a la carte. The lamb was moist and tender, the sauce was mouthwatering, the rice was cooked perfectly and the naan bread was delicious. Seriously, the cooks at Namaste need to come here and take lessons on how to properly prepare naan bread. That sorry excuse for naan is NOT how its meant to be eaten. Its safe to say that one restaurant has lost me as a customer and another has gained my business.

I travel a fair amount and I am a very picky eater across all cuisines. This is the best Indian food I have had. In fact, this is one of the best meals I have ever had. I wish I would live in the area, I would go to Abhiruchis every week. The food is extraordinarily well spiced, the curry blends are exquisite, and the chutneys are up to the highest par. The lassis are excellent and samosas and naan lovely. Also, the people are humble, warm and welcoming. If you like Indian food with a perfect kick to it that allows you to still taste the rest of the food - think no more. This is it!

Unfriendly non-existent customer service, no air conditioning just stagnant air, needs serious updating to everything inside and some atmosphere created. The chicken Tikka Masala tasted like spaghetti os. Wont return and wont ever recommend, its not worth stopping just because its next to the freeway. Do yourself a favor and drive further to Namaste instead for good Indian food. That said, two people in our party said Abhiruchis food reminded them of Indian food made by their relatives from India at Christmas, so the 2nd star is on their behalf.
