The coffee at Ugly Mug has remained my favorite for my entirety of life in Seattle. The employees remember you and never over charge, they always work with you to ensure you are satisfied, their vegan soups are always AMAZING and the bread given with it is phenomenal as well. I have had my day warmed by these people and the smiles they share. They roast their coffee on site so its always fresh and they even have a breakfast and lunch menu that will knock you out of the park. I will always love this shop and the memories it holds for me and my other friends who regular it.

I have frequented the Ugly Mug since 2004, and it recently underwent new management. With this came a new coat of paint, which brightened up the place nicely, but the place also became a little less of a studying coffee shop. The old owners used to play NPR and classical -- the new music comes through a stereo and although nice, was loud and distracting for studying. Still great drinks and food -- just wish it was a little quieter and cozy, like it used to be. And, wifi would be awesome, too!

their croissant egg sandwiches, salmon bagels, and cold brew were great. nice cozy interior. a few times there were stray hairs in my food. forgiveable, but repeat offenses leave you wondering about how much they care about keeping the kitchen and ingredients sanitary. then I got really bad food poisoning a couple times (collapsed on the floor, cold sweats, nausea, verge of vomiting). havent gone back since and havent had a recurrence since.

I just tried their bulgogi sub. Its really delicious! I have always appreciated their home-made style soups. I noticed today they have other items on their menu (in addition to the delicious sandwiches), such as ratatouille and other fusian (korean-western) dishes. For the price, its really worth it. They can be a bit slow though, depending on how many people are ordering, but worth the wait. The people serving are super friendly too!

There are two types of cafes that attract the young crowd, cafes with ampersands in their names and those without. Ugly Mug is the latter (discounting the cafe & coffee descriptor), but dont downplay it as just another cafe. The staff is genuinely warm hearted, and gone are the overused blank spaces in the name of aesthetics. Hell, they even serve holiday specials past the holidays and that alone will get me through the door.

Great coffee with a variety of whole sale coffees as well. Apparently they roast their own coffee here, and it is mm mm worth it. The only reason this place is not 5 star is because they dont serve sandwiches like they used to.. But they still do have one hell of a cup of joe, and you can sit there and read a book while sipping your cup.

This is best coffee house Ive been to in the U District. A comfy couch, warm atmosphere, friendly and accepting staff (they even allowed my well mannered dog in), and the most fantastic Green Tea almond milk latte. Pure ambrosia! I stayed two hours and had two of them.

I recently discovered this coffee shop. Its got a very small and homey atmosphere. They have great small batch roast espresso and really kind and knowledgeable baristas. Youd be remiss if you didnt order the lavender whip cream Belgian waffle with your coffee!

Went here on a whim once and its one of my favorite in the U district now. The interior is small and lots of students camp out for hours at a time so sometimes finding a seat is difficult. Coffee and matcha latte are wonderful and staff is pleasant.

I like this place. Pretty good coffee and tasty snacks. I appreciate that they have savory options. Good location, cozy vibes, and nice friendly staff. Can be a little crowded at certain times so dont count on getting a table right away

Great place to go to finish up some work. It is a little small and hard to find the first time, but totally worth it! I use to steady here all the time while I was a student. They have great coffee and the food there is also delcious.

The best coffee shop in the city. Even when it is bad it is still head and shoulders above everything else. There is a difference between actually having personality and trying to have personality. This place is the real deal.

good wholesome sandwiches for cheap prices! The sandwiches feel like something you could probably make at home if you tried, but its good, wholesome, healthy food, at great college-student prices. Tasty baked goods, too!

Amazing food, great customer service. This is one of my favorite places to go for lunch during work. Its a small space though so it can get a bit crowded during the busier hours.

Decent coffee, but the food isnt really worthy of mention, even though I just kinda mentioned it. Being in the university district is populated almost exclusively by students.

Close to the University, but without the cramped spaces and loud atmospheres of lots of coffee shops in the area. A local gem- quaint, good coffee, and yummy food options.

Very good coffee and espresso drinks. Solid kitchen with very tasty food. Just know the coffee is acidic and that doesnt appeal to everyone.
