When in your head you imagine a hipster coffee shop. This is it. Limited section of pastries, check. Of the 4 pastries and snack options they have like 3 are gluten free, check. Employees that give of the vibe of being stuck up, check. A hatred for flavored coffee (they only have one flavor and it is made in house) check. Not enough places to sit but we dont care, check. So with all of this you wonder why in the world I am giving this place five stars (and I never give out five star ratings), I can sum it up by saying this. "Their coffee is that good". I mean I live in Seattle, home of some of the best coffee shops you will ever find. People here take their coffee seriously. And even with that I must say that this is hands down thr best cappuccino I have ever had. Not even close they win. Even with all of the negatives that I listed (did I mention the parking sucks), they still get 5 stars. I cant believe it. I dont want to like the place but they have officially mastered coffee.

Best coffee shop in Seattle and one of the best in the U.S. (named one of the Eater National Coffee 38). People come to this shop in Fremont because they’ve heard how amazing the coffee is and they keep coming back because of the service. When it’s busy – and it’s usually packed – you’ll see the owner, Andrew Milstead, behind the bar pouring latte art and greeting customers. I don’t know how they do it, but the half dozen or so baristas always keep the line moving. The baristas are passionate about coffee, know a ton, and are happy to answer your questions. You go here for coffee and a pastry: they don’t offer sandwiches or anything substantial to eat. You should also know they don’t serve decaf coffee. If you are visiting Seattle, it’s a convenient spot to grab coffee, walk the Burke-Gilman trail, and stop by the Fremont troll. Fremont is known as the “center of the universe,” and this shop is the center of the coffee universe in Seattle.

This is one of my favorite local coffee shops. It has a wonderful chill atmosphere, the baristas are very friendly, and they make a vanilla syrup in house that is to die for. I sometimes ask for a milk steamer with the vanilla syrup instead of tea or coffee, its that good. But that said, their selection of tea and coffee is always great. For any legitimate coffee snob, this is the place to go. Their rotating selection of coffees make excellent espresso, and my boyfriend (a total coffee snob) buys his beans here often. This is a great place to hang out and get some work done as well, with big tables and plenty of room for a study session. Unfortunately, it isnt open late at all, so its really more of a place for a weekend afternoon break or a laid back morning.

Best coffee in Seattle. Their operation is a well-oiled machine and the coffee is always perfectly brewed. The staff are so friendly; I dont understand where the "stuck-up" comments are coming from; I come here at least once a week and the staff always ask how my day is going and give advice on the days selection of brews. Coffee is the focus here; no sandwiches or soups like some other "coffee shops" that are really delis that serve sub-par coffee. You can still get a great pastry to go with your beverage, though. Milstead is also a great place to sit and watch the boats sailing on Lake Union. On a clear day, theres a great view of Rainier, too.

The Baristas here are extremely good. They have single origin espresso and aeropress. I love that they are a multi roaster shop and brew some of the best beans available. They also use an amazing la marzocco strada espresso machine. The location is great too, right under the Arora bridge. Its a great view from the outdoor seating. Speaking of seating, the indoor seating is nearly always full. This does not detract from the experience though. Once you have your beverage of choice you will certainly be on cloud nine. This is not the most popular coffee shop in Seattle but certainly one of the best in terms of quality and variety.

One of the absolute best places for high quality coffee in the world. Impeccable attention to detail, and fantastic choice of coffee roasts takes this cafe head and shoulders above the rest. The decor/atmosphere is a bit industrial - with a cement floor, exposed ceiling, wood/metal tables and open space. It is very clean, and very well thought out. Most importantly, the baristas are very friendly, happy to guide you through the unknown (if you are new to coffee or non-starbucks coffee), and all around class acts.

From the second we entered and were greeted by the baristas to the second we left, we loved this place. To start they have a huge variety of whole beans, all with fresh dates of less than a week from roast. The drinks, we got a mocha and a latte, both spot on. Shots of espresso were perfect and the milk was textured perfect. To top it off, sitting in the front window seats provides a great view of the water, plus good people watching of the neighborhood. Highly recommended!

Very cold inside. Coffee is okay, on the pricier side. With all the great reviews I was expecting excellent coffee, disappointed. Not cozy, more industrial feel as Id they are in the middle of remodeling. Come, drink coffee and go. Uncomfortable seating. Had to leave in 15 min since I got literally frozen there! Didnt even finish my coffee. Not a place you can work for a day. Baristas were knowledgeable about roasts but called me Buddy. That was creepy.

This is a great spot. Dimly lit, with a great selection of coffee from local and nonlocal roasters. I had a pour over, a natural processed Ethiopian. It was bright and chocolatey. There are two entrances. One facing 34th and the other facing Aurora right next to Cafe Turko. They also have a decent selection of pastries. This is a great spot if you just want to come and chill or meet a friend. Definitely go check it out.

Our favorite coffee place when we visited Seattle this weekend. We loved it so much that went twice - each morning we were in the city. The staff is super nice and give you a warm greeting, the espresso drinks are delicious and the atmosphere is great. They also use a dark, bitter chocolate for their mochas - seriously one of the best Ive ever had. Would definitely recommend as the first coffee shop to visit in Seattle!

Tired of the Seattle Freeze infested coffee shops? Look no further! Friendly, knowledgeable coffee spots in Seattle are sometimes difficult to find. This place is exactly what Ive been searching for for the last 6 years. The baristas are incredibly welcoming, friendly, and ridiculously knowledgeable. Great selection of coffee and tea beverages and of course outrageously good pastries.

Definitely my favorite coffee shop in Seattle. Come here for their aeropress coffees. The bean selection changes throughout the day so if you find one you like make sure to take note of the roaster and type. Baristas are super knowledgeable and have patience to walk you through the entire selection. My only gripe is people like to camp out and treat this place like a library.

I tried ordering a decaf mocha. Decaf b/c Im pregnant. First of all, the barista informed me that Milstead does not serve decaf coffee (as if it were poisonous or disgusting). He tried talking me into ordering it anyways, but I asked for a hot chocolate instead. I also ordered a chocolate croissant. The hot chocolate was lukewarm and the croissant tasted old.
