The Last Straw, This will indeed be the very last time your establishment will get $ from us period. We have FINALLY learned our lesson. Here are the newest brunch details. We have been going to Phinney Market for almost 2 years. It was first recommended to us by a good friend who is employed at a different but highly respected Seattle restaurant. First let me start by saying if it takes more than 3 minutes for you to even greet a guest that is WAY too long. And then after that, you still did not bring water for us to drink until after you took the order. We have now been seated for 12 - 15 minutes. Believe me when i say my wife and i drink a lot of water. So if I have to ask you for it, you are not doing your job as a server. Since our first trip 2 years ago we have watched servers and bartenders come and go while the service continued to spiral downward. The only reason we have continued to go for the past 6 months was because of a server named JOSEPH and I think he is now quit too. The menu changes semi-seasonally, however it does not make up for the absolute inability to time food properly coming out of the kitchen. Cold food happens everyday at this establishment and today was no exception. I am at a total loss as to why it would take over 30 minutes to prepare 2 dishes in a place that is at less than 1/5 of its total capacity. Perhaps they were understaffed? NOT A CHANCE! I would say at the time we were there waiting to get our cold food, there were at least 12+ employees present and a manger. At this time again, there could not have been more than 20 guests in the in the building and 2/3 of them already had their food. So why the long wait for food? We informed the our server ERIN that our eggs and toast was indeed ice cold. Her response was to be CLEARLY annoyed with us. She did resolve the situation but not after making sure we knew that she was more than agitated about this. For the cost of the food, the absolute lack of service, and the stress you get from being at this establishment, I will suggest you give this place a pass. (FOR THE RECORD: I am server. I have been a server/bartender for 20+ years.) I take my job very seriously. When I go out to eat, to spend my hard earned money in the industry that I work in, I have a certain level of expectation and this place gets EPIC FAILURE status. I hope this review helps you avoid trowing your money away. Cheers!

Should have read the reviews... We arrived at about noon on a Sunday after walking around the Zoo for a few hours. We were greeted and seated quite quickly, the waiter came and got our orders for drinks while we browsed the menu. We were a bit disappointed to see how small the lunch menu was (a $16 burger, or a few different salads, and a lot of breakfast items), but it very well could have been that they served brunch with a few lunch items. We got our beers and was not overly impressed with how warm they were. For an IPA, I would have expected something a bit more cold than just under room temp. Id suggest they lower the temp of their keg storage. After about 15-20 minutes, we got our food. Our two friends who got the chicken cesar salad had a nice bunch of salad, but no chicken. My wife and I got our burgers, but the first bite revealed a burger that was far more pink than what most people would be OK with. Given the drinks, the missing chicken, under-cooked burgers, and a 15-20 minute wait, we decided it was easier just to eat what we could and get out of there. $44 later for my wife and I, 2 burgers, a soda and a beer... we left. On a side note, dont get their burgers, $16 was a definite ripoff for that burger. About the only redeeming quality of this place from our visit were the fries, those were very good! Id suggest that you go to the food court at the Zoo, or make a longer walk to a better place to eat.

Friends tell me this place is almost unbearable when its crowded during family brunch time with kids running around out of control. However, Ive been lucky so far and have enjoyed watching the games there when its not too crowded. The bartenders are fantastic. The food is delicious. Updated two weeks after original review. Sadly, I now have to downgrade my review from 5 stars to 3. I went in for the first time on a weeknight for a Seahawks game to be told that even though they are trying to look like a sports-friendly venue, the owner hates football and will not allow sound on the games! You have to listen to 50s background music while trying to watch the game. This is true even when there are only a few customers and the vast majority are in there to watch football. I confirmed this must be true, as I came again for my usual Sunday Hawks game-watching there. When a bartender Ive seen before there walked in, off went the game sound and on went the old-times music. I guess that guy is the owner/tyrant. I will be disappointed to have to find a new venue, because my current favorite bartender in town works here and the neighborly atmosphere was nice for games.

I didnt realize I was looking for a restaurant like this until I found it. I came here for breakfast before hitting up the zoo and was kind of nervous about bringing my toddler to a pub and eatery. What I didnt expect was this to be the most family friendly adult establishment Ive ever been to. They have a play area, toddler utensils, and cut fruit into appropriate bite sizes. They also have a comfortable layout which has plenty of room between tables (but they do ask that strollers are parked outside). Theres a full bar which makes this place awesome for parents (or regular brunch goers) and their menu is locally sourced. Plus the food is delicious. This is a perfect place for a large group or just a small one to eat. Our food came out within a reasonable amount of time (which is another plus with a little one).

I really want to like this place but alas I have had three progressively worse experiences here. The first time was great - friendly service, nice dessert, live music. The second time the server was slow and didnt know anything about the menu and the food was mediocre The third time we were ignored at the door for twenty minutes while the servers and host all chatted back by the kitchen. When they finally did talk to us they informed us every one of the eight free tables was reserved, never mind that we would have ordered and had our food by then had they bothered to seat us straight away and every one of those tables had been empty the entire time. Go to just about any other restaurant in the neighborhood for better service and food.

Disappointing is a good start, but its not quite a strong enough word to capture the experience of brunch at the Phinney Market Pub. The eggs Benedict were overcooked (think hard boiled eggs on burnt biscuits) the side order of fruit was anemic at best, and I really hope I ended up with the bottom of the pot of coffee because even charcoal shouldnt taste that burnt. The potatoes were ok, but definitely not good enough to make up for the outrageous price tag. Nice decor, nice staff, but youre better off admiring from the outside.
