Ive been to Kells before and its been okay - food is decent, but after todays experience I will likely never go back! I hadnt been in a while, but I remember the last time I went they gave good portions of soda bread (which I love) Today, they gave small pieces, thin slices. I first ordered an appetizer of bangers, which came with the bread and two pats of butter. Then I ordered the cheese appetizer to take home, which came with 8 more slices of bread. I asked for two extra pats of butter for the extra bread. The waitress told me "sure" and walked off to get them. Moments later the manager comes up and tells me that I dont need extra better (I was left wondering if this was because Im a bit heavy - not that she was a skinny-minnie herself!) and that the cheese appetizer is not normally served with butter and I shouldnt have even gotten the two I already had! I told her that there were several slices of bread and I like eating it with butter. She told me that I was supposed to put the cheese on the bread, in essence telling me how to eat my food. It was two pats of butter I requested - not a free meal! She would not budge. My friend and I thought it was highly inappropriate for her to react like that and told the waitress so when she returned (the waitress was nice) - she said that she had gone back to grab the butter and the manager asked her what she was doing with it. When she explained to the manager that I had asked for more, the manager told her not to give me the butter as they were trying to cut costs. Cutting costs does not mean cutting good customer service. I dont feel I made an extraordinary request and the manager acted as though I asked her to pluck the moon from the sky for me. Kells has just lost a customer and if they continue being this stingy, I bet theyll lose many more. (If this for some reason shows 5 stars as my reviews sometimes do, let me make it clear, that Im only giving it ONE STAR and thats being generous!)

If youre a single person looking to get your drink on, I guess this place is alright. Just dont go here with a family because you get treated like crap. I have never had service as poor as I received here on 5/11 around 3pm. I should have known from the moment, the bartender tells us to sit anywhere, that we should have just walked out. It was embarrassing to take my in-laws from out of town to this place thinking it would be a classy enough joint to grab a quick bite to eat and maybe get some friendly lunch service? Not at all. The waiter and bartender. See I used to work food service long ago and I know how tough it can be when youre short staffed. I understand. But you dont throw the GD menu on the table and then run off without greeting us and completely ignoring us for 15-20 minutes. Not even that shady bartender, who greeted the couple who came in long after us, bothered to acknowledge us and not even making us feel welcome. In fact the whole time, it felt like we were inconveniencing these losers. So when the piece of work waiter comes back, he gets us drinks and then takes our orders. It took this guy so long to get us 3 sodas and a water. Then shortly after, he tells us the cook isnt making anymore sandwiches even though its before 3pm. By then, we just ask for the bill, pay and walk out of there wasting over a half hour of waiting for nothing. Worst $8.25 for 3 sodas we ever spent. If either waiter or bartender told us as we came in that they were short staffed and asked us to be patient, then maybe we would be more forgiving. But the fools didnt. Was embarrassing to take the in-laws from out of town to this hovel and Ive never felt so disrespected before dining out. At least the next place we went, the waiter there got a great tip. Avoid this place.

Seated at a table by hostess, twenty minutes later she couldnt tell us if a waitress would be helping us. Assuming if we a pint it was self serve. The bar tender was great, nice and efficient. Add I made my way back to our table our waitress informed me it was table service only, this is now more than thirty minutes after we arrived. The stout on tap is good, if you enjoy shoddy wait staff and a "I could not care less about you" attitude this is your spot. This is just one of 5 visits to this dump, on our last I asked to speak to the manager, after watching our waitress discus this request with get co workers, a young guy took off his apron and approached us, here had been bussing tables all night and looked like he was barely out of highschool. You would have better luck dealing with the black and tans than you ever would of getting even ok service here

I was at Kells today, 10th. Oct, for lunch. We ordered raw oysters for appetizers and we requested horseradish. While we were waiting for the horseradish, the manager owner on that shift, came to our table and stared right at us, making us very unconfortable. When we asked the waitress what was going on, she told us that the owner makes horseradish for certain dishes, and when someone asks for horseradish, and it is for a different dish, she gets upset and comes and stares at the table in which the horseradish was requested If I was the owner and found myself in that situation, I wouldnt care and would make the customer happy, But of course, they do not care. DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU WANT AN INGREDIENT THAT IS NOT CONSIDERED IN YOUR DISH. YOU WOULD BE STARED BY THE MANAGER AND GET A PORTION OF WHAT YOU ARE ASKING. What a shame!!!

A fantastic authentic Irish Pub in the heart of downtown. Pretty good food, if youre into Irish Fare. Beer selection is decent, but theyve got all the Irish stuff, great whiskey selection. They have Magners cider on tap, which is a rare and magnificent thing. Atmosphere is split - One side of the place is a nice dark restaurant, casual seating for smalltalk with a group; other side is the more open live music pub atmosphere, loud and boisterous in the evenings. Both sides have bar and serve food. I patron this place about once a month or so, staff seems to rotate (I dont believe Ive met the same server twice), but the owners have remained constant, and the current owner is as sarcastic and sassy as could be hoped for in an irishwoman. Live Music many (all?) nights, starts around 9pm.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I went in to get a coke and Seagrams double drink and ended up paying $16 dollars!!! I understand a drink in seattle ranges from $6-10, but when you get a double usually its $2-3 more as all they do is add a shot. Well they doubled the price and made it $16. They made a hefty profit but Im making sure to write about their robbery all over the net. Save yourself money and get the liter beers as the White Horse Trading Company 50 feet away for $8, I wish I never would have gone to Kells, not a bad atmosphere but they love to rape on drink prices. Go for the scene and drink before you go!!
