In the middle of moving in to the area, we drooped in after 10pm last night. Exhausted, famished, grumpy, and just looking to eat just about anything. WOW! We were blown away. It was EXACTLY what we wanted. The crispy beef was, in fact, crispy. The Green Jade is a mix of broccoli, snow pea pods, and chinese string beans with a yummy garlic sauce. The veggies were fresh, lovely, and prepared perfectly. Cooked but still crisp. The sauce was tasty and not over glopped on the veggies. But the big surprise was the House Special Won Ton Soup. A tasty mix of wonton, chicken, water chestnunts, baby shrimp, bbq pork, mushrooms, carrots, and a little zucchini in a flavorful broth. We thought it tasted very familiar, and it was! As it turns out the current owners used to own the 7 Seas on Lake City Way. (They were kicked out to make room for a strip club when the courts decided Seattle couldnt block strip club permits any more. Guess there is more money in sex than food.) We were eating the 7 Seas Special Won Ton Soup!! That was always our go-to soup when any of us was under the weather when we lived in Ravenna. We thought we had lost it forever. But NOOOO! Here it was again at the delightful Peking House. We definitely moved in to the right neighborhood. But 5 stars? Really? Yes, really. I judge businesses within their market niche. This is an unpretentious, family owned Chinese restaurant. For what it is, it is perfect.

Wow! I am so impressed by the customer service tonight. I phoned in my order and out of expediency ordered one of there pre-set family dinner menu selections. Most of my family does not eat pork so I asked to have the pork BBQ, sweet & sour pork, and pork fried rice substituted for non-pork/chicken alternatives which she said they could do for a $1 extra (I assume per dish). No problem, well work it. Told my order would be ready in 10-15 minutes. About 1-2 minutes after hanging up, she called back and pointed out that the won ton soup also contained pork and would I like a substitute for that! It was so contentious of her to do that! I am grateful for a neighborhood restaurant that watches out for us!

For my whole adult life I have driven past this place assuming it was another crappy Chinese place where they make the money in the bar. Boy was I wrong. It is my favorite place to go. LOVE the lemon chicken, I swear I could eat until I burst. But the Honey Walnut Prawns are divine, make my eyes roll back in my head divine. We have only eaten there 3 times and each time tried new things only one dish was meh for me but everyone else loved it so Im not going to name it because it was obviously an issue of personal preference, not quality.

Its a decent place with decent owners and I like that it is open late. Good food at good prices. I also appreciate any place that serves complementary hot tea. (while other places will charge you $2.50 for hot water and a single Lipton tea bag.) The meal was ready quickly, but the atmosphere of the place was enough to tide over my wait. With all this being said, it is kept way too dark inside. I felt like I was eating in a gambling den rather than a restaurant. And if they had WiFi, I would eat here more often.

New management as of March 2013. used to be my favorite Chinese in all of Seattle... Now the food is a farce. Chicken chow mein was flavorless and had little chicken and even less veggies. It was like a pile of unflavored top ramen. Green onion beef was smothered in overpowering sauce that was in no way complimentary to the beef and onions. Ordered crab rangoon and got fried wrappers with about a half teaspoon of (egg roll filling?). Sad about my secret Chinese joint that used to be good....

Ive eaten here a few times and enjoyed the dishes , but tonight I made the mistake of ordering take out and will never do so again in fact it was so bad that I will gladly pass by this place from now on! I ordered the same dishes that I normally order when dining in and I think they boxed up leftovers or something cuz this was horrible! The fried rice was bland, the Mongolian beef was flavorless and the orange chicken was soggy..... soggy!! Wtf! So long Peking House! Not looking back!!

I agree with Chris! We have been going to the Peking House for YEARS! Ever since the new management took over, food is very bland. We are now looking for a new "go-to" Chinese Restaurant in the north end :(. We are going to Yu-Shan today, to see if they are any good. The old reliable is the Black Pearl, however some of their dishes are not good either. Their honey walnut prawns and General T chicken are very good. My go-to almond fried chicken, not so good.

What can I say, Peking House is a family favorite for many years. The food is always good, and the atmosphere friendly. The sesame chicken is the best I have had, and the Mongolian beef is great too. I also love the potstickers, fresh and satisfying. P.H. is not a fancy place, but in a world of so much pretension it is truly a breath of fresh air. Now if youll excuse me Im heading down there right now to sink into some delicious Chow Mein.

A few weeks ago we had heard that this place was under new management since March 2013 and decided to try it again. we bought the House special fried rice and the Won Ton soup. both were very good. Tonight we purchased the Cantonese family dinner for two and found it just like the old Chinese food places of old. We were happily surprised. Almond chicken could be a deep fried a little longer, but overall a good experience.

Pretty good for your standard Americanized Chinese Food restaurant. Nice interior decorations. The seats are torn and old, but everything was clean. The staff was nice and service was fast. I was there for lunch and the prices for the lunch combos were great. Definitely one of the better restaurants of its type in the area.

We go here all the time they make us a old favorite Chicken chop suey. House special fried rice, and of course Honey walnut prawns, Family owned and operated this place takes you back to the style of Chinese you remember as a kid. Thanks Peking house Jon & Mary

I recently moved to the neighborhood and this is my second try in two weeks. Food is politely served but beyond sub par. Rubbery, nearly inedible chicken, gloppy cornstarch-over-thickened sauces. A shame. Prime opportunity for a restaurant rescue reality show.

I have been coming here off and on for years....but I would say the last couple of years have been on the down side..... The lunch special I ordered clearly was warmed up in the microwave and verified by hearing the timer go off and oh here comes my plate :(
