This isnt just the best fish and chips in Seattle, it might be the best in the world! Ive been eating here my entire life and have also had fish and chips on the east coast, Canada and Europe. In my 20s I drove for Shuttle Express and when new people would visit the city, I used to tell them about Spuds and all the locals would agree. Other tourists who had been here previously and tried it would as well. The fish is perfect. Its crispy yet flaky and the tarter sauce and their special selection of vinegars complement the flavor very nicely. My favorite is the spicy pepper vinegar but theyre all good. the location is one of my favorites in town and the staff is always excellent as well. DO NOT leave town without trying this place. Pro Tip: Order one of their home made pickles to go with the meal as well!

I had to bus a table to sit down. They skipped my order by 4 orders while staff milled around. My fish was over cooked. My chowder was like warm at best. Of the three times I asked for assistance two of themy did other things before they even addressed my request. And before I was finished I was told to clear my table when I was done. I have come to both the Green lake and Alki Spuds for more than 30 years and NEVER had such deplorable service. Seems like there needs to be better operational and customer service training for staff at least at the Alki location. Seemed like a group of entitled privileged young folks who arent use to doing for others. I was highly disappointed and wont be coming back or recommending Spuds to my customers in the future.

I am 51 yrs old and have gone to Alki Spuds since I was a young child. Simply, SPUDS IS THE BEST! THERE IS NONE THAT COMES EVEN CLOSE TO COMPARING TO THEIR FOOD! If Ive gone to another F & C place with anybody else, it has always been a let down, because I have to compare it to Spuds. Spuds service is always quick and efficient (except to wait a few minutes in the dead of summer because this is where everyone goes and almost daily there is a line backed up out the door!) The cost is a little higher (not much) than some other "cheaper" places, but it is WELL WORTH THE COST! If youve never eaten at Spuds, you havent eaten real fish and chips!

At least 20 + years ago, my live in boyfriend at the time, a Seattle(ite) took me to his old stomping grounds and Spuds on Alki was one of them. Unfortunately, I have not been back to Seattle since we broke up decades ago (I think I was 25 now 46 yrs) - but my folks are headed to Seattle and what was the first place I told them to go? Not Pikes, the Needle, nor the gardens - SPUDS! And now that I have googled, I long for a trip back, a hearty visit and the wonderful ecometro atmosphere that only SEATTLE has to offer! Thanks SPUDS I know you will not disappoint.

Ok, this place was great. Service is pretty much like a fast food restaurant, but it had that FISHY FLAIR to it that Ive only experienced on the coast (Texas Gulf Coast). The only thing with this place was that it wasnt as hot. Parking was a pain (I didnt know where i was going), but I parked a few blocks down to walk my food off after. The fish was excellent, and the Fried oysters were the bomb. This was a little more pricey than a Long John Silvers or Captain Ds, but the food was well worth it. Too bad I live 2000 miles away, or Id be there everyday.

i visited three times within four months. the woman at counter about mid 30s was alone after manager/owner left. she was talking to other staff who were leaving and arriving. her attitude was rude. i had posted that other two visits my fish & chips were not cooked. the last visit a guy cooking and food was cooked but not perfect. i notice there were no timer alarms as to how long to thoroughly cook food. i will not return because the green lake spud fish & chips has better customer service & food. i posted how fries should look & taste. good luck.

ALL I EVER REMEMBER OF SPUDS IS THE GREAT FOOD,FUN AND MEMORIES!! Now that Im over here in the Far and Middle East, Spuds IS THE best MEMORY ONE CAN LOOK BACK ON here in the mountains of Afghanistan. DO NOT TAKE FOR GRANTEED a GREAT place like this!! My Apartment was one block away on those nights I frequented the THEN "ALKI TAVERN" or "AMBERS" now GONE. ENJOY what you have NOW GOOD PEOPLE OF SEATTLE,WASHINGTON.....YOU WILL NOT KNOW HOW MUCH YOU MISS A GREAT PLACE LIKE THIS TILL YOUR GONE!

Not what we expected based on the good reviews. First, very difficult finding a parking spot. Second, this is an order and then hope to find a table establishment. We ordered the fish and chips and the clam strips. The fish was good but nothing exceptional. The fries were greasy, they need to change the grease in the fryerlator. The clams were good, but there were barely any of them. We were quite disappointed.

Decent fried fish n chips. Annoying service at times. Called ahead to place order in hopes of paying then leaving. Had my kids in the car and was alone. They took my order over the phone no prob. When I arrived they hadnt started it. They said "we dont start orders ahead of time". My question: why didnt you say that when I spoke to you on the phone?

This Spuds is different then the other Spuds, not sure what happened to the others, but this location is serving the same great Fish n Chips as always! The best tarter I have ever tasted, make sure you get a larger size so you can dunk your fries in it. Take it to go and eat across the street at the beach. Enjoy.

If you grow up in Seattle, either you lean towards Spuds or Ivars. Personally, I am an Ivars guy, but Spuds is nice too (and yes, I call it Spuds -always have). The batter style here is more towards the battered variety, as opposed the the more breaded Ivars variety. Good location on the beach.

I saw a notice that they are hiring for all positions @ $12-13 hourly so I am seriously thinking of quitting my job and going to work there JUST FOR THE AMAZING FOOD ! Been dining there since 1972 when I lived on Alki and still make it a point to go every time I fly in from where I now live.

Im not a huge fan of fish in general but theirs is really light and crispy without any nasty green or brown spots in it . My man is crazy about it , he grew up in Kenmore and went to the one there all the time, so he always wants to stop here when we go to Alki. The chowder is good too.

We got the cheaper cod but it was still pretty good. The halibut was quite a bit more pricey but I think we will try it next time. The taste of the cod was a bit bland. The tartar sauce and french fries were very good though. My fiance also really liked the clam chowder
