My husband and I stayed in Alki Beach for vacation, and this wonderful little restaurant was recommended to us by the owner of the house we rented. Lucky us! We have traveled a little in Italy, and found the food here to be as good as (if not better) than anything we had there. We started with the Calamari in Umido, which is steamed (not fried) calamari in a spicy red sauce. I wasnt sure what to do with all the sauce, but it made for wonderful dipping with the pizza-like flat bread served at the table. It was difficult to decide on dinner because there are so many choices -- big menu for a small place. I finally chose the Pollo Saltimbocca (chicken breast with cheese and prosciutto). My husband had the Involtini al Sugo di Barbera (pork loin with sausage and salami). Both entrees caused much eye-rolling and outbursts of "mmmm", which is one of the signs of a 5-star meal for us. Most surprising was the accompanying pasta with marinara and roasted veggies, which were both flavorful and unique, showing that they really do go the extra mile even for something as often neglected as a side dish. For dessert, we had the Tiramisu, which brought on many more "mmmms" and much eye rolling. Really, truly fantastic! The service was also wonderful. Everyone was super friendly and very attentive. Our waitress had a great sense of humor, and the owner came by and chatted with us twice and wished us a great vacation when we left. If you go (and you should), note that there is no obvious signage outside, so look for the address of the place. Its a little white house on the corner of Beach Drive and Carroll Street.

I was appalled at the management last night when we took our good friends to dinner at La Rustica for their first time. From the outset it was clear that we were going to be pressured to hurry and turn the table. The owner needs to show more warmth and to welcome folks into his restaurant and make them feel like they are there to relax and enjoy. Instead he stood guard at the door all night watching tables sternly, like he couldnt wait to clear the table out and bring in the next round of people. We were not even thanked on the way out as he stood his guard. This is the kind of atmosphere where you actually want everything to go a little slower, take your time and savor your food, wine and friends. Instead, I felt like I was at a cheap restaurant, it was moving so swiftly. Its clear the owner has his eye on the total bill for the night, a goal of how many tables he could turn, instead of relaxing and letting us enjoy. The final straw was when the owner himself came over and alarmingly snatched the bill himself and rushed it into the back room. Not coming back. Im offended.

Cannot speak highly enough of La Rustica. After seven (yes seven!) years eating here, I realized today that this is our restaurant. The waiters are friendly, happy to be here and some have been serving us the entire time weve eaten here. Hows that for employee satisfaction. Were getting to know them by name. The food is absolutely awesome. And the portions are so big that I can eat til Im stuffed and take home over half the plate. I eat the leftovers for a couple days and love every meal. What a value!!! La Rustica is in a quiet beach front neighborhood on the back side of Alki. Its worth the view as you drive, and if theres a wait to be seated, youll enjoy the little beach front park across the street. As its in a neighborhood, parking right in front can be scarce, but weve never had to park more than around the block. Every reason to go here. Fall in the love with the restaurant like we did. Its a lifetime love affair.

Not only is the food really great, but I especially wanted to come write a review and talk about the service, which I thought was terrific. Water glasses were always full, plates were cleared promptly but not rushed, our waiter was friendly without trying too hard...just very relaxed but diligent service. So the food is also excellent! A wide selection of pastas...all pretty rich and heavy though, but worth the indulgence. I ordered the Gnocchi alla Romana con Pecora, which came with 3 polenta cakes and tender chunks of lamb in a tasty, tomatoe-y sauce. Portions are generous, and especially after bread and a side salad, you definitely have another meal to take home. Support local business and get away from the city!

As an Italian from NYC I have searched for delicious Italian food since moving here 14 years ago. My search is over. La Rustica in West Seattle is a throw back to my old neighborhood haunts in the Bronx. Small & friendly, you feel like youre eating somewhere in Tuscanny. The food is off the charts delicious, especially the Risotto with Asparagus and the Gnocchi with sausage. If youre lucky you will go on a night where they have Canolli for desert every morsel will send you higher to ultimate bliss! Even the house wines are scrumptious (official wine term). The wait staff goes above and beyond. Trust me when I tell you, hire the Sherpa and come to West Seattle for one of the best meals of your life!

This guys is a piece of work. I fell in the bathroom because of the poor design of the floor and told him about it. I broke my ribs and he never reciprocated with anything, but a glass of wine. I could have pressed charges but didnt, I told him I would not. He is something else. I have to say his food is good but as a human being he is much to be desired. He could have at least gave us a free dinner on him for my inconveniences and expenses. Bottom line fix that bathroom. The emergency folks that took care of me even said the bathroom is unsafe.

Make sure you have a reservation because this West Seattle hide away is a favorite of the locals. Family owned by Janie and chef Giulio Pellegrini, La Rustica is celebrating its 20th Anniversary. The Lamb Shanks are melt in your mouth and the pasta is so fresh. Dont fill up on the amazing bread you get before the meal, but take the time to enjoy authentic Italian Cuisine in an intimate dining room full of charm.

Amazing. As always. Consistency is key. I have been here once every three months or so for years, and I have never had a complaint. Dedicated service, delicious food, delectable wine, delightful views. Wild boar is on point. Prawns and shellfish as well. Accommodating to vegetarians. Limoncello tiramisu keeps me coming back. Do yourself a favor and cross the bridge!

A romantic and lively taste of Italy tucked away from all the commerce. Bring someone you want to impress, especially yourself. The Lamb Shanks are simply delicious and out of this world tender. Ask Giulio for a side of Gnocchi tossed in Gorgonzola sauce, if its busy he may roll his eyes, but its totally worth it. Enjoy, this place is a treat!.
