HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! Last night my husband and I decided to take his brother (who was visiting from out of town) out to a late dinner at the SeaTac 13 Coins before a very long 17 hour flight he had. My husband had not eaten all day, I am 4 months pregnant and purposefully didnt eat dinner because we had plans to go out. We showed up and were told that there is a 20 minute wait for a booth but the lounge has open tables right away. Being in somewhat a rush (and starving), we took a table in the lounge. The waitress took our order and we sat patiently waiting....20 minutes pass......30 minutes pass....1 hour passes and no one even approaches us to let us know why our food is taking so long. Finally, the host comes up to us and tells us that our ticket was lost and the cook does not know what we ordered!!! We could not believe it...not only did they ignore us 3 sitting at a table for an entire hour, but they lost our ticket and it took them that long to tell us and ask what we ordered again. No apology or "can we make it up to you" was even offered, they simply told us that they will make the food as fast as they can after they took our order for the second time. We told the host that we now dont have much time left until my brother in laws plane leaves and he reassured us that they will be quick. We are so upset & hungry at this point that we honestly didnt know what to say, just agreed. Time passed and my brother in law realized its getting late and he cant miss his flight. So we all get up and start to leave, super upset at how we were treated. As we walk out the door the waitress comes out with our food and they just see that we are leaving and dont even stop us to offer to box up our food, they just say "oh i guess they re leaving" .... we stopped, looked at them, and said we have no more time, we have a plane to catch. I cant express how hurtful this was, and after we dropped off our hungry brother at the airport with no time to even grab food at the airport before his plane starts boarding, I called the restaurant & asked if we can come pick up our food...the guy who answered bluntly tells me, with no apologetic intentions, that he is eating the blackened chicken sandwich as we speak and the rest of our food is being enjoyed by the employees. I was stunned... Here I am pregnant and so hungry that I feel nauseous, while he tells me he is eating my food. I ask if this is normal to treat their customers like that and he rudely talks over me and says that if I want to come back and re order my food, I can, and he will take A SMALL percentage off, but otherwise NO because the restaurant does not want to pay for 6 entrees for us...3 OF WHICH THE EMPLOYEES ENJOYED!!!!! I told him nicely that no one offered to even box up our food and he just keeps explaining that they wont pay for our food twice. This is unacceptable, I have always loved this restaurant and introduced all my family and friends to it which are regular customers now of both SeaTac and Bellevue locations. This 13 Coins needs to go learn some common etiquette and customer service skills from the Bellevue location. We were so hungry we ended up having to grab some gross fast food in the middle of the night because there is no way on earth Id ever come back to that place again.

I have always loved 13 Coins. I spent my prom there, my 30th birthday and countless others and always had a special place in my heart for dining there. I flew in from Phoenix last Thursday for a memorial and my companion and I even booked a room close to the restaurant because it was my high desire to eat there. So here we go. We get there and our server kind of rolls her eyes when we dont order alcoholic beverages. OK. We order the baked brie and a few beverages. My companion changed his order from a Sprite to a ODouls. Then we went to order and wanted to split a steak and a half pound of crab. She thought there wasnt any crab and was going to go check. 15 minutes later she arrives with both the Sprite and ODouls. My companion asks about crab and she says "Oh I havent asked yet". Another 15 minutes she comes back and says , "No crab, can I take your order". We are a little irritated at that point but trying to be cool having both been in food service. We order the steak with the pan fried oysters. We get the Baked Brie appetizer. It was almost cold...the cheese had hardened back up so it was edible but nothing to write home about. I could get the same effect with a grilled cheese sandwich dipped in jam. Then our plate arrives. OK.....46 dollars for a small filet mignon, with a sprinkling of crab on top, noodles that reminded me of poor college days....essentially spaghetti noodles with a little parmesan and oil. They were flavorless and the presentation was very poor. A half a tiny steak on each plate and these cheapo noodles. The steak I will say was delicious even if it was only 4 bites of food. No oysters. She comes back and realizes when she hits the table that she forgot the oysters and makes up some lame excuse about the kitchen. 15 minutes later she brings this rock hard crusty deep fried oyster basket with fries and a cup of coleslaw.....WTF? These were not pan fried and when I bit into one there were horrible overcooked and sandy in my teeth. Gross. I could pay half that at a hole in the wall and it would be a lot tastier.....this was supposed to accompany our steak....not be a separate entrée. It was just tacky. Sorry, we dont drop a hundred bucks for dinner very often and for petes sake if you are going to charge that kind of money for your food, have some decent service to back it. Geez. So when said server never returns to check on how our food is I seek someone else out to return the oyster jerky. The service never improved and NO we did NOT leave a good tip. That in itself makes me mad. I am a great tipper and I have a lot of compassion for people having a rough night but this girl simply didnt care. It was unpleasant enough I wont go back. Boo.

13 Coins Seatac – For All the Right Reasons, a Grill for All Seasons I first ate at 13 Coins on a business trip to Seattle way back in 1991. I was flying in from the east coast and arrived in Seattle about 5:00 PM local, but my body time was at 8:00 PM and I desperately wanted food. After checking in at the hotel I got a recommendation from the front desk to try 13 Coins on International Blvd. When I got there, this hungry person said halleluiah I’ve arrived at the promise land flowing with seafood and pasta. My first impression was wow; this place is alive with excitement and on fire. The excitement was from the enormous energy carried out by the kitchen staff. The fire came from the cooks making dishes over the flaming grills which would suddenly erupt with leaping tongues of fire. I had a pasta dish and for the life of me I can not recall what is was, but I do remember that it was excellent. Fast forward about 25 years and I’m back in Seattle with my family looking for a good restaurant in the Sea-Tac area. I vaguely remembered where 13 Coins was located on International Blvd so I trusted my long term memory and was able to find it again. Going back after such a long spell was a test of faith but it lived up to my well cherished memories of excellent pasta - and much more. I’ve got family members who choose seafood or veal dishes over pasta so the 13 Coins menu satisfied their desires. Their dishes of veal and salmon were excellent. My pasta dinner of half spaghetti and half beef ravioli was excellent. It was probably different from my 90’s trip but I’m not going to loose any sleep trying to remember. The service was good and some what frenetic - this was expected because the place was crowded and jumping. Since it’s a 24-hour menu place, it has that Vegas kind of beehive hum and buzz. The decor is old school club-style high back booths with low level lighting to relieve the stress you might be carrying. But if you are in a high wire mood, then the high-back captain chairs which face the kitchen might just be what you need. We managed to get there before the peak rush for dinner, but if you hit the crest of dinner time then expect to wait awhile. It is a popular place with locals and travelers alike so parking can be a challenge. Remember this is Seattle with lots of people in a relatively small space surrounded by all manner of lakes, sounds or bays. This visit I got to share the 13 Coins experience with my family and we all agreed it was a unique dining experience. Much like mine back in aught 91.
