This place was fantastic! Im on vacation here in California and spent a day in Berkley for a friends wedding and while my partner and I waited to head to the venue, we found this place and couldnt have been happier. Vegetarian diner food, how could I not try this place!? When we walked in we were greeted with genuine smiles and seated right away. We took forever to pick something, as there are so many delicious-sounding options on the menu. Finally we decided. I got the Pulled "Chicken" BBQ sandwich with french fried and my partner got the Space Cowboy burger and french fries; we both got the organic Arnold Palmer. First my sandwhich was incredible! Perfectly fried onion strings, sweet and tangy BBQ sauce, a delectable bun, and wonderfully cooked "chicken". The french fries though... the best Ive ever had (and I eat a lot of french fries). They were crispy, filled with flavor, and made my mouth sing. My partner loved her Space Cowboy and similarly loved the fries. The organic Arnold Palmer was the best version of that drink Ive had the lemonade was delightfully sour, the tea bold, and just the right sweetness for my tastes. Also the atmosphere is fun, and each table has something going on under the the clear acrylic top (one was filled with Star Wars Pez dispensers). All around amazing place for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike, because there is no way that we ate the only amazing things on that menu. If Im ever in Berkley again I will absolutely be coming back!

I came here for lunch with my husband a couple days ago. We loved the space, it is so cute! All space-agey with the silver sparkly columns and diner seating. Very fun and funky- felt like I was in the Jetsons or something. The food was a little less impressive, though maybe thats because it was lunchtime? I dont know, maybe their breakfast is better. It wasnt BAD, just not anything great. We are vegetarian so were excited to try a vegetarian restaurant with "traditional" diner food. I got the cowgirl burger (?) which was a "chicken" patty with buffalo sauce, bleu cheese, lettuce, tomato, etc. It was just okay... My husband got the taquito platter and the taquitos were quite good, but everything else that came with it wasnt that great. Im pretty sure my fries were just frozen, but they were okay. Service was pretty good and our server was super friendly. We may go back at another time and try some other dishes. Oh-- best part of the meal was the jalapeno poppers! Those were awesome.

Ive been to this place many times, and even though Im vegan, I prefer a lot of non-vegetarian/vegan places over this one. For one, the price is just too much for the amount of food they give you. Secondly, the food tastes just okay. The pancakes I had were good and the maple syrup was really sweet, but again, it wasnt good enough to pay over $10 for, especially since they only gave me two. The potatoes I had were undercooked and not crispy, and the "bacon" wasnt smoky. I really disliked the bacon, but I might be biased about it because I really do not like tempeh, but I expected it to be crispier, which it wasnt. The milkshakes and pies were amazing, however. I guess the entrees are just not worth it. The atmosphere was nice, though! I love the typical diner look and feel, and the staff was really nice. I just wouldnt pick this place over other places due to the overpriced food.

Im not usually one to post negative reviews, but my experience at Saturn was one of the worst Ive ever had at a restaurant. Took a friend here for his birthday, along with my girlfriend, and was interrupted mid-meal to be told we "werent allowed" to eat a birthday cake wed brought in (we could bring in a cake from one of their preferred vendors, though). This after spending $40 on overpriced food, and even after asking their staff in advance. Have never experienced ruder service in my whole life. And it wasnt just our waitress; I sent an email asking for an explanation from management and received no response. They dont care--why should you? Saturn bills itself as an ethically-and-community-oriented restaurant, but they treat their customers like trash. Theyre in it for the dollars. And they wont be receiving any more from me or my friends.

I have been here a few times. It is a vegetarian and vegan restaurant with diner type food. A great variety of sandwiches and salads in particular. Service is fast. Parking can be challenging, especially during the school year. One caution - be sure to ask for take away containers, as there was confusion during my last visit & they trashed half the salad that I thought they would pack. The Groupon got us here. Their cola & hibiscus cooler - both great. For food we had the santa fe salad which was incredible. The jalapeno burger with thin fries was equally good. The mac n cheese was bland, so I wont order that again. Nachos are good. 1/2 and order of french toast is 4 half thick slices of bread which is very filling. The vegan spuds was the best part of breakfast - totally filling. The mini madness was a chocolate delight.

A cute, quirky little vegetarian cafe right by UC Berkeley! I have vegan parents, so they love to come here and take me quite often when I visit, so Ive had the opportunity to try several of the menu items. So far, I can say that I have enjoyed all of them. The vegan meat options for the burgers and chicken strips all taste very realistic and have great texture and flavor. I love the vegan ranch here as well! The milkshakes are excellent - the have both regular milkshakes and vegan milkshakes. The tables all have cute artwork on them, and the cafe definitely has a bit of a retro vibe. I like Saturn Cafe! Its good quality food in a cute and retro environment. Well worth a visit for the health conscious.

Long lunchtime wait; seemed like their front of house was understaffed. I wasnt in a hurry or anything and just dawdled on my phone. Waitress was very friendly, apologized and put my order on rush anyway (even though I didnt say anything)! Thanks! And then the food arrived (space cowboy with fries and avocado added) and it was pretty meh, despite claiming to be "award-winning". I could probably make a better veggie patty and diy fries myself. The hot sauce on the table on the other hand was SO good. Haha. Some local bay area brand; Ill have to try to remember what it was called and get some.

Good food. Although Im not a sworn vegetarian, Id rather not eat meat. It would of been nice to have dishes that were not focus on substituting meat. I had the huevos and papas burrito and it was good. Needed some salt. Although too big. So could not eat it all. Only draw back was on walking in there was a peculiar smell like what they use instead of butter and something else.. But good atmosphere, mostly students as this place is very close to Cal. Prices were very good. $35 for two adults and a hungry "devour anything" 13 yr. old.

Veggie haven. If you want veggie burgers, this is definitely the place to go. They have several other good sandwiches as well. I particularly recommend the club sandwich. The salads are great, too - organic and large. Everything else is also good, with the exception of their soups, which - to my taste, at least - never quite measure up. Still, we all have room for improvement; thats part of life. Besides better soups, my only other wish is that they would offer free refills on their iced tea and coolers.
