Came here late one Saturday night. The restaurant decor and layout was actually very nice taking over the old Koral space. However, thats where the nicety ends. First, the service was terrible. The hostess was dismissive at best. We were told that they would have a table for us in ~15mins. 15 minutes passes by and nothing... Finally after 25 minutes of waiting, a waiter asks us if he can find us a seat. "Awesome", or so we thought. He sat us down and we waited another 10 minutes but no one brought us menus or even greeted us, finally we asked on of the staffs and it turns out that the waiter had LITERALLY meant to only find us a seat so we didnt have to stand and wait; they had already closed down that side of the restaurant so we would have to continue to wait for an actual "serving" table. We told the hostess to cancel our table and of course, two seats opened up at their bar seating. We figured the time we wasted was a sunk cost and decided to stay. However the service didnt get any better. Even though we were seated at the bar in front of their open kitchen where all of the waiters had to literally walk by us to pick up orders, it still took us another 20 minutes to get menus and water. As you can imagine, after all the wait, we didnt have high expectations but was just hungry and wanted to get some food. I had some marinara meatball sliders and some fried cheese curds. The meatballs had zero flavor and the marinara sauce, Im pretty sure, was watered down Prego. I honestly wouldve been more satisfied with a can of Chef Boyardee. As for the cheese curds, I should mention that Im a sucker for fried cheese curds, but they were so disappointing that I couldnt have more than a few bites. The batter they used had cornmeal so it was gritty. They were also tossed in some sort of sugar/syrup so not only were they not crunchy (think more of microwaved frozen chicken nuggets) but they had this oddly sweet taste to it that didnt complement the cheese at all (although Ill admit thats subjective and some might like that, I personally didnt). As for the cheese curds themselves, they were dry and not cooked long enough where it should come out slightly stringy (think mozzarella sticks) but more like cheese flavored bouncy balls. Im not sure if its just new restaurant open jitters but considering its been more than 2 months I would have expected them to have ironed out all of that.

This was my first time trying any of the 13 Coins restaurants and my friends had been pushing me to give it a shot. The first thing we were told when we came in the door is that there were no booths available, bit that we could sit in the lounge. Ok, that was fine... Except we could literally see at least 3 booths behind him that were empty. We hadnt asked for one, so that was a strange thing to put out there immediately upon coming to the front desk. We sat in the lounge where maybe three other small groups of people were located. I had my back to the rest of the room so I could not easily see where our waitress kept disappearing to. She seemed surprised when I ordered a Sprite and during the hour long meal only offered to refill it once. That refill was warm with a few ice cubes I assumed were intended to cool it down. If they dont want to serve a soda, I dont know why it would be something I could order. I ordered a cup of french onion soup, my friend ordered the bowl. They came in the same serving dishes, with mine being an inch less full. Id recommend the cup if you must try it, there is no reward in ordering the more expensive size. Id never had this soup served with Gruyere cheese, but dont think its to my liking. The whole thing became sour. My medium rare "ribeye" was actually a one end medium and one end rare top sirloin. The meat was not hot, nor seasoned, and there was a strange cold mushroom cap set on top. That also was not seasoned. The potato side would have been the best part of the meal, had it been heated throughout. There was also a cup of what I believe was a variation of marinara on my plate, but I couldnt figure out what it was intended for. Maybe the potatoes? I dont remember the servers name, she was not interested in engaging with us. She did, however, spend a lot of time engaging with some men who were seated in the same area. My friend ordered a second drink, which did not arrive until 20 minutes later and just before we were all finished eating. Even after we continued to dawdle while she drank that, my soda was not refreshed. The chairs are pretty comfy. Ill give a star for those.

Read the very poor reviews on 13 Coins in Bellevue so I called and was assured all the problems had been corrected. I foolishly took my adult daughter there today for her Birthday lunch. What a mistake!!! First came the Escargot she had ordered. The waitress came by to see how her order was and she told them they were terrible. The very nice head of chefs came to our table and offered to remake them to her liking. Then came my BOWL of onion soup I had ordered. It was good but it was in a tiny size cup. I asked the waitress if by mistake I had received the cup of soup. She assured me the cup was even smaller..I find that hard to believe!! Of course no bread was offered with the tiny bowl of soup. Then the Escargot reappeared. My daughter who always orders Escargot when we dine out has never complained before. This time it was back but in a thin tasteless broth and still not good. She did not complain again..Next appeared her Frattata. One forkful and she decided to take it home to see IF the dog would consume it. Next came my JoesSpecial...always my favorite at Seattles 13 Coins. It was tasteless, however I did not complain just emptied the pepper and salt shaker on it. The finality was Chocolate Mousse which was 1/4 Mousse and 3/4 whip cream. They did comp the Mousse as it was my daughters Birthday....the whole meal should have been comped!!!! You may find this hard to believe but honestly this is the first time I have waged a complaint on the internet... However, the service was fine...figured the waitress was new...

Walk in... 2am... not busy by any measure. Politely express my interest in a to go meal with the caveat of a couple questions to easily make my selection. I did have a couple drinks... again... 2am... head waitress promptly advises she has no interest in engaging any inquiries into anything and proceeded to direct me to the door. Taken back by what just happen I decided to take a seat in a non vacant area by the exit to simply leave a review (30 seconds tops), 20 seconds in a security guard approached and pathetically conversed his way to kicking me out. Upon guaranteeing I would leave given a honest response... I described my experience... he filled in the disconnect from management and moved on to confess that he hated even having the discussion. I am Black, here on business... I have enjoyed my time in Washington, a mind blowing experience specifically in race relations as well as LGBTQ... that 15 minute experience at 13 Coins in the Hyatt at Bellevue Eastside will not skew my experience and perception of WA but I am compeled to highlight racism where I see it. I was going to be a paying customer based the recommedation from a Head Manager I had the pleasure if meeting earlier in the day. WHEN your staff is not directly driven by the morals of the organization then you may as well exclude all that is not "safe" in lieu of "risk". Never going back to 13 coins in Bellvue Hyatt... I do not recommend going there if you are Black but none the less I leave Seattle/Bellvue foavouravlbly enlightened. African 1 out!
