We went on a Saturday (late evening) and it was not busy at all. Probably 10 other people there. The staff/service were AWFUL. Ive actually never written a google review before but felt compelled to after our experience. We were there for nearly 2 hours, with most of our time waiting on the staff to serve us. Åt some point, our waiter/bartender left for the night, and didnt tell us or communicate our order to the next person, so another staff member had to ask us what we got. Then, when we were done, I actually had to yell out, "can we get our check?" because they werent coming over to our table or looking over at us at all. They were socializing with other "guests" (looked like friends) at the bar. Then, because it had been nearly 15 minutes after we got our checks, I walked up and gave the cards to them and he goes "oh Ill run it now for you"..... then pockets our cards and proceeds to another table. I literally watching him talk to them and then go back in the kitchen and then pop back out. He makes eye contact with me and goes "oh yeah!" ....then goes over to the computer. Yikes. It was just awful. My water even had a fly in it when they brought it to me. I was nice and asked for another, but it was as if I personally offended him when I asked for another water. Unfortunately (because I wont be going back), I did like the burrito I had. My friends werent a fan of the enchiladas they had though. Really big bummer! It had a nice ambience, being on lake tye and all, and I was excited about a new restaurant to go to in Monroe. Total bummer!

I was very disappointed. I had read great reviews and was very excited to take my wife there for our first anniversary, but we were very underwhelmed. We felt like the server didnt take us seriously (we are a couple in our late 20s) and we werent greeted by our server (we ordered soft drinks from the lady that brought us chips and salsa). Then we werent offered any drinks or appetizers, this was our first time here and the waiter didnt give us any suggestions, specials or anything. He was just there to take our orders. When we finished eating we were just brought the check. My wife and I had heard the table behind us (same waiter) offered desserts and were curious to see what was offered, but we werent given the opportunity and just didnt feel like going through the extra effort to ask for the menu. We just chose to pay and leave. We did end up getting dessert elsewhere though so it worked out for us still! The food was very alright. My wife ordered Tortilla Soup and it didnt taste like it had any Mexican seasonings. She described it as a chicken noodle soup with avocado in it. I ordered a burrito, but they didnt bring me any of the included rice/beans so I was bummed. Everything that we ate had a sweet taste to it. Nothing really screamed Mexican flavorings to us. We will probably try El Lago again since we recently moved to the area, but there are 4 other Mexican restaurants in the surrounding area so we will probably try them before we circle back.

For "Happy" Hours (this time, ours was not, entirely) be sure youre there way before the claimed end-time. We live very near there. After several extremely satisfying visits we dropped by for a quick drink on the way to friends place. I called to see what time happy hour closed. 6pm. We arrived well before 6:00 and ordered drinks and began selecting a snack. But we waited a bit longer than usual for waitress to return for food order. She returned at 6:01 (according to Verizons clock). She left, checked with manager, then said we were too late to order by one minute. As usual, all else was great. I realize half the tables were busy. But, still, it seems a pretty firm policy driven corporation. Plan accordingly.

I was very disapointed in this place. I will never go back there again. It was nice inside but the service and food needs some major rethinking. My burrito was like eati.g baby food wrapped in a tortilla with red sause all over. My daughters food camr 5 min. After everyone elses food and the chicken nuggets had more chicken then the tamale. We were asked one time after we sat down if everyhimg was ok i wanted to day no its not. The only person that was nice and asked us sfain was what i assume was the manager. The table behind me tried to flag a server down for 5 min. Like i said i will not be returning and will not recommended to any one

Food was average and so was the service. The mariachi band was cool at first but they would spend 5 to 10 minutes at each table, this meant they would be at the table just before yours, your table and the table after yours and its a small space. We couldnt hear anything at our table for about 30 minutes at a time and they came around twice. They are great but you cant expect to have any conversations with the people at your table while dinning here. Plus the wait staff couldnt get to your table with drinks, they did seem to push through with food though.

Came in with my girlfriend on Cinco de Mayo, surprisingly the place was not crowded, seemed like a typical if not slightly busy weeknight. After the table of 4 seated next to us (who came in about 5 minutes after we were seated) had placed and received their drink order, we took bets on how long it would take to receive service if we didnt wave down a server.. We both lost that bet, we left after a total of 30 or so minutes passed without any service. We did not feel welcome.

It was the worse experience. Firstly, no one greeted us like one is supposed to working in a restaurant. We were there waiting for an hour for someone to get our order. There was also a field of racism, along with us, there was another tables of Hispanics. And two tables who werent Hispanics. They were served first, even though they got there last; us along with the other table of Hispanics werent served, even though we arrived first. And the manager had come off as rude.

Weve given this place three tries for dinner. The food is okay and arrives fast. The most notable thing was we felt rushed. The staff stopped by to ask us if "everything was okay" no less than seven times in a half hour or so. We were actually asked "do you want anything else or just the check". Wed been there about 30 minutes and the place was mostly empty so its not like they were in the middle of a rush. We should have gone to a taco truck.

We had spent the day at Evergreen speedway and were looking for a good sit down meal. A quick search on Yelp and I found El Lago with good reviews and some nice pics attached. Being from Canada good Mexican food is hard to find. The modern building made it look attractive from the outside and the sound of authentic live mexican music gave it a nice atmosphere. our food was absolutely delicious and served quickly.
