Im writing this review from the emergency room after our first visit to Planet Fresh this past Friday. What started out as a mediocre dining experience (the food is nothing to write home about) turned into one of the most violent cases of food poisoning I have ever experienced or witnessed. My boyfriend went to Planet Fresh Friday night to pick up food for us while I stayed home with the 2 year old. I knew he had gotten home when I saw him sprint by me toward the bathroom to begin vomiting - that was Friday night around 8:30 pm. My boyfriend was admitted to the hospital Sunday for food poisoning and is being treated for severe dehydration and the complications that came from over 48 hours of projectile vomiting. Nearly as horrifying as the food borne illness suffered is the "customer service". I tried to call Planet Fresh Friday night around 8:45 pm but no one answered the phone and I couldnt leave a message, so I attempted to email them through the contact information listed with their digital menu only to discover that they provided an email address that doesnt work. So Saturday morning I tried calling again because I wanted to believe they would answer when it wasnt a few minutes to closing...but no. After dialing 6 times back to back to no avail and with my boyfriend still puking up water, I decided to drive over (we live 5 minutes away). Never in my life have I ever dealt with worse customer service. I started off by telling the manager I had been trying to call but he immediately cut me off and said, "yeah, we dont do phone orders anymore" and started back toward the register. As soon as I mentioned food poisoning, his entire attitude changed for the worst. The manager didnt even want to hear about it and let me know that they dont do refunds - even when food poisoning is involved. Ive worked in food service and ran customer service departments as a manager, so I understand how draining it can be to hear what one might perceive as a false complaint or an attempt to get something for free - really, I do. But to call a customer a liar after serving e-coli riddled food to their partner is a bit much especially when they have it set up that they cant even recieve a complaint any other way than in person. My boyfriend couldnt get out of bed to talk to them himself and the other people who probably also got sick wouldnt have been able to call or go in either. If you have any enemies, I would recommend Planet Fresh - but make it soon. The health department will be in soon...

No better deal for this price. They have an unusual variety of burritos - Thai, Italian, Pacific Rim, Cajun. Of course you can get more traditional types. They used to claim everything was fresh - no can openers in the kitchen! Dont know if thats still the case, but the food is fine by me. As others have said, great salsas. Nicer interior than a typical taqueria, but nothign special. I dont understand other reviews saying not big enough - I always split my burrito in half and get two meals from it. With Planet Fresh in town theres absolutely no reason to go to a place like Chipotle.

The name of this restaurant really says it all. The portions are planet sized, the food is very fresh, and not your standard fare burritos. This is a choose your own ingredients style burrito place including having it in a bowl, rather than a tortilla and other options. I visit this restaurant every time I visit Santa Cruz, and take my business customers here for lunch and they all agree that it is a must visit.

Planet Fresh offers a range of unique burritos and Mexican cuisine, with several vegetarian and vegan options. They have a salsa bar where you can load up on several different accompaniments to your burrito, though I always feel like they skimp on the tortilla chips and end up going back for a second order.

Both my husband and I had headaches a couple hours after eating pork burrito and quesadilla. We are both sensitive to MSG. That is our usual reaction to the stuff so beware.

Great burritos! They have some awesome combinations of flavors. I remember enjoying their peanut butter thai burrito and they have a great salsa bar.
