When we first moved to Washington, we came to Burs and it was fantastic. We thought we had found our new favorite place. Then we went back and the food was terrible, so we wrote it off as bad timing or a new cook and decided to try it again another day. Today marks the 4th second chance we have given them and the last. I ordered the chicken fried chicken and was served chicken fried steak. The waitress apologized and took our plates back to be remade. It came out a second time with a pile of gravy. It was rather obvious they put brown gravy on it and when they realized I had requested cream gravy, they flipped it over, scraped it off and covered it with white gravy. I asked the waitress if thats what happened and she said they were buying it because they had messed up twice. Im not sure if the menu was changed or the product, but this place used to be so much better.

Right when we sat down the hostess gave us attitude. After that the bad service continued while the waitress acted like we should have known the choices on the menu. While we waited for our food, we got a chance to look around the restaurant. It is very unkempt with poor lighting, ripped chairs, chipped tables and spider webs. It is obvious why the place is packed with seniors when you dive into the bland and lukewarm food. The soup was clam chowder in which you couldnt taste the clams and they had turned into rubber. The bacon on the BLT tasted and felt like it had been cooked and left out for the last hour. The corn had no seasoning to speak of and the chicken fried steak had a slimy texture underneath the breading. The gravy had turned into some type of gelatin after sitting on the plate for five minutes. Overall this was the worst experience Ive ever had with a restaurant.

Ordered breaded veal cutlet with gravy was typical, a bit much pepper in gravy. The boiled mixed veggies were over boiled, tasteless and institutional canned, precooked, over processed but lower grade than restaurant quality. Two mini beet pieces tasted fine, nice to have on the plate. Mashed potatoes instant, with usual instant foul taste but here so much gravy smothered it and made bearable. Been coming here for decades, long before Harvester bought it, never this disappointed. Split pea soup was tasty and the ham bits almost visible. Lots of friendly helpers. Steamed rolls were smashed and raw dough. We live close 5 blocks away, it will be awhile before we bring anyone here again. I will ask others what they think first.

Burs is another legitimately old diner that was purchased by the South Sound Restaurant Group. It is one of the best diners that they own. If you love classic diner fare, youll find it here. I love the Monte Cristo here. Youll find great breakfasts - omelettes & pancakes & everything you look for, a full list of luncheon classics and Blue Plate specials for dinner. Everything hovers around $10. The staff and the clientele have been here for years. I love the vibe. Make sure to check out the large list of pies, cakes and cobblers they have available - on the white board behind the lunch counter! Yum!

Large meeting room in the back with a big screen TV (Lakewood United meets there every Thursday morning from 7-8 am. Different speaker each week, anyone can join us and become better informed). Separate room in back with long bar and tables. Front room has booths and counter for eating. Great breakfast place, opens at 6am. Specials written on whiteboard signs. Great coffee and waitresses.

This place is a Lakewood staple and has been here for several years. I know a lot of locals love this place, but not me. Its not that the food is bad, its that its not good either, its average. If you are out and about and you are nearby, then by all means stop and have a meal if you dont feel like cooking, just know that you can likely have something better at home.

I have tried this restaurant about half a dozen times over the last two years. I never had a server who seemed to care about whether my meal was good or bothered to check to see if I needed a coffee refill. Once the coffee was COLD....not tepid or lukewarm....COLD. I will not visit this restaurant again. It feels like a cafeteria.

Traditional coffee shop. We love to have breakfast here, usually in the lounge. I can vouch for their Bloody Mary & and Chicken fried steak and eggs. Theyre as good as it gets, and a reasonable price. In the bar theres a big screen TV with sports on and pull-tabs to play. Can be busy at times, but good always comes out fast.

Very great food and Service. Curly the bartender is top notch employee, very much motivated to make customers feel at home, she brightens up gray days. Pleasure to be around. Have come here since 1958 with my Dad, Mom and brothers and sisters. Come enjoy great confront food. lux et VERITAS, Semper Fidelis Burs!

The best cozy little restaurant in Lakewood. The food is always delicious and makes you feel like youre right at home with a home cooked meal. The servers are so friendly and helpful, I have gotten to know many of them with my frequent stops at Burs and it makes my experience there just that more enjoyable.

Ive been there a couple times for Lunch with my friend and another time on my own for breakfast. The staff is friendly and prices are reasonably portion sizes are good. Its comparable to Dennys or Ihop when it comes to breakfast. A lot of regulars seem to frequent this restaurant.

Sorry but your waitress are very bad service. They look like they are angry. They talk rude. They dont come back to ask if everything is good. No communication with customer. McDonalds has better customer service. The food was great they have a verry good cook.

I have been here 3 times now. First 2 times were good. This time though we had some issues. When you walk in, there is a strong urine odor. Must be in the carpet. I ordered fish and chips. Beer battered. It came over cooked. And greasy. Prices are good.

Our family meets every Sunday for breakfast here, and has for the past 8 years. There are usually 12 of us. We sit in the back area that accommodates large groups and our waitress has become a wonderful friend to our family. Her service is excellent!
