I totally echo what Leif (below) has said before me. In fact I think we had the same experience only 4 months later. Went there last night for the first time, or at least tried to, but ended up leaving after 40 minutes. When our party of three arrived, we put our name on the list. There were just two parties ahead of us and we were told it shouldnt be more than 15-20 minutes. My husband went to the bar and brought us each a glass of wine. More and more people kept coming in and with no place to stand, people were crowded around the reception area and waiters kept walking through the crowed space with peoples food and drink. 30 minutes later, wondering why such a delay, we took another look at the list and realized several parties had been seated ahead of us. We asked why this was the case and the receptionist said it was because they were larger parties and it was bigger tables that had become available. I politely protested that I really didnt think that was right and she said she would get the manager. While she was getting him, my husband suggested that if the manager didnt accommodate us immediately, we should leave. The manager came and simply stated, "We use the bigger tables for parties of five, not three". My husband said to me, "Come on, lets go". I still had the almost full glass of wine in my hand (that had been paid for). The manager just reached and took my wine, like he didnt care if we left! I said nothing at all, just looking at my empty hand, then I followed my husband and son out the door. Except for the fact that we paid for the wine and wasted 40 minutes, I had no misgivings about leaving. The place was so loud. The house CAB was terrible. The food did not look appetizing, the service was absolutely terrible, and all they cared about was maximizing table profits, even if it meant making a party of three wait well beyond three times the estimated wait. My family eats out often and we are always looking for a new place to add to our list. We are loyal and easy to please customers. We will never return to Sunset Alehouse and we will never speak positively about the place to anyone we know.

I have been a rather frequent visitor to this establishment over the last 3 years since moving to Issaquah. I have always been a fan of the food, and the beer. I have been twice in the last couple of weeks. I went in with my family and girlfriend on March 27th, and had no issues. Sunday the 3rd of April was an entirely different story. My girlfriend was asked for her ID (out of state ID, but still perfectly valid), which they did not do the week before, the 18 year old server in the bar area checked the ID, returned it, and asked no questions. The manager then came over, asked for the ID again, took it to the scanner, and came back minutes later with the ID. Up until this point, there really was no problem, it was just odd as my girlfriend is 27 years old. The manager began to tell us how lucky we were for him to not be confiscating the ID, and that the state issued ID was not real. He said that the ID scanned in the scanner, no problem, but his outdated book of state IDs had a difference on it. His "updated" book of IDs had the exact same ID as my girlfriend, but the current and updated version of the ID is totally different, so his claim that the book of IDs was correct is bogus. He was completely smug throughout the entire process, and seemed entirely too joyful kicking us out of the restaurant. The snickering and sarcastic comments as our group of 7 people left the restaurant was uncalled for, and pathetically unprofessional. I am all for protecting yourself from serving underaged people, but to do so in such a rude and patronizing fashion is unacceptable. I have come to expect a certain level of service from Jaks and their family of restaurants, and this experience has completely tarnished that.

Ok the experience started out quite terrible. We waited to be seated as posted in the sign. We asked for the last 6 person table in the bar but requested that it be clean prior to sitting. Once the table was clean another couple had taken our table. On top of that the waitress who knew we requested the table began helping them out instead of informing them that we had asked for the table. We settled at the end of another table with strangers ( kind strangers). Then it took quite some time to be greeted again. We ordered our beverages which were great. We were quite hungry and ordered food. The food took almost an hour to come out for a simple order of tacos and chicken wings. The experience sounded terrible but the drinks were great. The bartender was kind amidst the chaos of a full house due to a storm. She comped our food and was so sincere. With a terrible start and the right attitude it changed our experience. The bartender was great. She made the experience 5 stars after a roller coaster ride of an adventure. Well be back again.

I read the other reviews and I think people are crazy. The staff here is nice, the food is great (way BETTER than other breweries in town) and a cheaper, more low-key kid-friendly version of Jaks. There IS sometimes a wait, but who cares. Go eat when other people arent....if you go between 6:30 and 7:30 on a Friday or Saturday, youre going to have a wait everywhere. Reasonable prices and super close to other fun things in Issaquah makes it a GOOD option. The other reviewers saying that it was bad are lame commenting about the wait. And, im sure if you were douchey about the wait, the server knew you wouldnt leave a tip and maybe didnt rush your dinner right out to you, you know? Maybe that happens to you often? So, Id say if YOU, reader, arent rude to servers and you dont find that you often have BAD experiences with waitstaff, youll probably do just great at Sunset. I should probably also make it clear that I dont work there, dont own the place, etc.

$7 for 7 onion rings that were not edible. They were coated with fried BBQ potato chips that were very unpleasant. The gumbo was inedible, loaded with onion powder. The cod was good fish, but the batter was super greasy. Fries were acceptable. The "chef" is just trying too hard. Its bar food...leave it alone! Our waitress was very good. However I now have to go back because they charged me full price instead of subtracting my Groupon. Nice try to rip me off of an extra $20 for terrible food.

I go to Sunset Alehouse all the time!! They have a good selection of beers and great food. I always get the 10 oz Carne asada with fries on the side. The Carne asada is always cooked properly and very well seasoned. The rice when miexed with the beans and Pico de gallo and chimichurri sauce is so good. The flavor is always spot on! I highly recommend getting it. The fried sre the perfect saltiness and crispness that fries should be. And as always, looove the beer selection.
