Original Gravity is generally one of my favorite bars for a variety of reasons. First and foremost is the beer selection. They have a constantly rotating selection of well known and less well known craft beers. Choices are displayed on a large TV above the bar with brief descriptions and information like ABV, brewery location etc. so you know what you are getting in to. I personally like to know about what Im drinking so I think this is a nice touch. The selection is always varied so youll never feel like you are just choosing from a bunch of similar IPAs. The bar has a nice low key atmosphere and is usually crowded at peak times but not uncomfortably so. They recently did some remodeling and there is now more seating room inside than there was before. Drinks and food are ordered at the bar, but the food is brought to your table and bussed. Staff is friendly and answers questions. The food is simple but good. They have a good variety of sausages with toppings (peppers, onions sauerkraut etc.) and some excellent "duck fat fries". In terms of pricing food is cheap and beer is generally what Id consider standard price although it varies depending on how exotic your choice of beverage. Typically for two people dinner and 2-3 beers is around $40 all said and done. The location is great in downtown San Jose conveniently near light rail so its easy to stop by whether thats your final destination or not.

I love coming here, it never gets old and its always fun to come and try new beers. Its a great place if you like to try new beers, they always have a changing variety of all different types beers with interesting flavors. Not only do they have great beers, and a great atmosphere but the food tastes so good. Ive head a few of the sausages but my favorite is the garlichoke one. Both the options for fries are also great but recently tried the poutine with gravy and curds and is by far my favorite. Anyone who hasnt been here should definitely check it out, its a fun place to come as a group or even come and have a quick dinner and a few beers. Its convenient location because its right next to the light rail which makes it easy for you to just come have some drinks and head back without having to worry about driving.

One of the best beer places in downtown. They have a great rotating selection, events with breweries, and they play every Sharks game. ALSO, if the shark attack is on tap, they take a dollar off for every goal made by the Sharks. Its a $6 red ale thats 9.5% ABV, so at 5 goals, its a pretty unbeatable $1 beer bargain. Its a bit small inside so it becomes easily crowded, but there is a very large back patio. However there are no TVs for the back. According to the employees, the narrow hallway that connects the inside and back patio should be expanded around the end of March, increasing the square footage. Also, there is only ONE unisex bathroom so get in line ahead of time. I sincerely hope they add additional restrooms when they expand the hallway.

Loveee coming to Original Gravity. Being a fan of craft beer since my SoCal days and also from visiting Portland, I am glad to see new additions to San Jose. The craft beer scene is getting more prevalent and this place does not disappoint! They have a large selection of craft beer and they also have some nitro stouts, which I am in love with. The nitro adds a creaminess to the pours that is out of this world. The food does not disappoint either! Ive ordered a few sausages as well as the duck fat fries, which are super crispy. If you like poutine, their poutine is delicious as well! I come here at least several times a month and love the fact that they have outdoor seating!

Slowest bartenders Ive every seen, and calling them bartenders is a stretch, since all they have to do is pour beer. Eventually got to the tiny bar, with FOUR bartenders, after waiting 15 minutes to get two people in front of us served. Two of us sat at the bar, watched as five couples got served while we were staring at the bartenders, asking politely for service. No acknowledgment, no greeting, no nothing. After finally loudly asking for help, after all others were served who came after us, no one cared. So we walked out.

Whats better than beer and sausage? Low frills spot in downtown SJ that has a really impressive draft list. Some really "aggressive" beers in terms of flavor. They only serve sausages/ fried food for eats, but their sausage selection is up to par and hits the spot. Their space is oddly shaped, with a long hallway, but they have some outdoor seating in the back. Easy to get to from light rail. My only concern is their lack of "normal" alcohol beers, most are pushing 8%, which means you cant sample too many!

Great selection of beers. Not much in the way of wine (J. Lohr) but serving Red Branch Ciders Hard Black Cherry Cider. Pretty extensive selection of sausages that are served grilled up with your choice of toppings. I had the candied jalapenos on top of a grilled andouille sausage. DELISH! They also do some really good french fries which they serve alone or in a poutine style. Their back patio area is a great place to relax with friends, enjoy a drink and maybe some casual dinner.

They offer a great variety of good beers - maybe 25 of them to choose from. There are some standard, small tables and also long bars in the middle - perfect for a group chat. The place just got a bit too noisy, lots of people competing to be heard over the loud TVs... but this is a pub anyway! Food was good; they offer some fries and a variety of hotdogs and some other sandwiches -- just good to eat something with your beer(s), which is what you will be looking for here.

Favorite and requisite stop in downtown SJ anytime Im in town. Always a great variety of beers on draft. Dont forget to check the back bar which has a completely different selection of beer than up front. Great sausages including some gamey exotic options. Free tap water from the macro lager tap handle. They validate parking from a nearby lot, but not the garage that is right across the street from the front door.

Stumbled upon this place during a night out with some girlfriends. We had such a blast! Literally! The bar was just the right amount of crowded, the bartenders were so much fun and the music was great. The food isnt half bad either. We are between 27 and 35, and the crowd was perfect for us. I didnt feel too old or too young...just right! If Im ever in the area, Ill definitely go back!

My favorite place to grab beers, homemade sausage and fries when I am in San Jose. Ive never been disappointed by their beer selection and have been able to try some one-of-a-kind brews during my visits here. Website stays up to date with availability. In the heart of downtown, it is a short walk from the convention center hotels. Only wish it was closer to home.

Great craft beer selection, usually around 40 beers on tap and even more bottled! They also expanded to add more indoor group seating which makes this my go-to for grabbing a beer and catching up! Pro tip, park underground on 3rd street next to smoke eaters and enter in the patio - they validate for this lot and not the one thats on first street!
