7-31-2016 Lots of times people leave reviews only when they are displeased...we almost didnt go to this place because there were so many recent less than stellar reviews.......but on our way to buy inferior tacos at Taco Time....we drove buy and saw there were several cars there (Sunday), and it looks so cute from the outside we decided to stop. (1) THE PLACE IS NOT DIRTY. ITS FREAKING SPOTLESS. It is beautifully decorated, has lovely carved booths...beautiful exterior and interior. (2) We ordered the Nachos Deluxe. We were given the usual warm, crispy chips and two kinds of salsa while waiting for our dinner....the red salsa tasted just like any other restaurant salsa - and yes, it was too hot for me, but it did NOT TASTE LIKE CHILI POWDER AND BLACK PEPPER. The green salsa was great - chopped onion, tomatillo, lime, and chilis....and I used it liberally on my nachos when they came. The Nachos were delivered on a wonderfully hot plate, less than ten minutes after we arrived! The chips were toasted, the meat was wonderfully seasoned grilled and shredded beef....there were fresh tomatoes, fresh guacamole, and liberal sour cream on top of melted cheddar. These were some of the BEST NACHOS we have ever had! (3) THE WAIT STAFF WAS EXCELLENT AND VERY CARING TO OUR NEEDS. The general price of the menu was $15 to $16 a plate, but the plates are HUGE and the food is beautifully prepared from what we could see of the platters going by us. We will be back SOON, and we can see that ordering one plate to share between two people is more than enough food!

Food: 10/10 Service: 12/10* Cleanliness: 10/10 We got to the restaurant at 9:45pm, 45 minutes until their closing time. Normally, this would be aggravating to the staff at most places, theyd be wanting to leave for the day but everyone at the restaurant was very friendly. I ordered some food that wasnt 100% a menu item and they said they normally didnt do that but that hed ask the chef to see what he could do. I was ready to find something else to eat on the menu but before I even picked, the waiter came back and said theyd have no problem making my food special and theyd be happy to do it. Service was friendly and the food didnt take long at all, we downed 2 bowls of the salsa while we waitied, so good. Dont let the reviews saying its too hot fool you. This salsa was excellent, great taste, good heat and chip basket stayed full until I food showed shortly after. Man, oh, man. Not only was my food better than I hoped or expected, I was blown away by how good it was. Im from Texas and Georgia and am used to incredible Mexican food. I havent found a place in Washington comparable to restaurants back home, until now. I couldnt have made or asked for the food to have been any better for any of our meals. Add the great food to great service, all at the ending of shift and I have nothing but great things to say about Tampico. Other than, my gf used the restrooms and was astounded that place was so clean, top to bottom. Im so glad I found this place and will absolutely be back with family and friends. Great food, great service, great place!

Amazing place! We stumbled in looking for some tasty food (which we did receive) but also so much more! When checking out a Mexican place, I always go with the standard deluxe burrito to help me consistently measure. Picadillo had more depth and flavor than usual, and that alone was fantastic! Salsa roja and salsa Verde were served- both with a generously spicy kick, exceeded my expectations in overall flavor as well. Staff were very attentive and we werent left needing anything. The best part about our whole visit, was how equipped they all were to deal with young patrons. My son is 2- They were attentive to him, brought water with straw and lid (not common outside of Red Robin, etc.), served his already cooled down food on a barely warm plate (while the rest our ours were the typical piping hot), and wouldnt allow us to feel bad about (or give us a chance to clean) his 2-yr old style food mess. Very welcoming, friendly, and amazing food to top it off. We will be back!

This was my first time here and I chose this restaurant based on its google rating. I was disappointed. The food was just mediocre. Service was decent for food, but the water guy failed to fill my water glass up after the first ten minutes. Im originally from down south where most Mexican restaurants serve their food with a cheese based sauce. It seems that every restaurant uses a tomato based sauce here and I dont care for it. The chips here were good, but the salsa was not. The salsa was very spicy and tasted like chilli powder and black pepper. The guacamole was also just okay. Chipotles quac was much better. Unfortunately this was another strike out as I would not come back.

The service was great and the servers were very friendly, but if you want good Mexican food this is not the place. The chips and salsa were O.K. but the inclusion of habanero peppers in the salsa is not a good idea. My girlfriend ran to the bathroom crying when she accidentally bit into a piece of one. I love spicy foods but I had a hard time with the salsa myself. We are both from Arizona and spent over 30 years in the Phoenix area so we know what good Mexican food tastes like and regardless of what some of the other reviews tell you ,this isnt the place to get it. Check it out for yourself if you want but in my opinion its just a smidgen above cafeteria food.

This could very well be the best Mexican Ive ever had! The salsa was homemade, the chips were so hot I could hardly eat them, even the enchilada sauce (which they brought for the kids to dip chips since the salsa was too spicy) tasted homemade, and was phenomenal. The plates were huge, and we ordered 5 different items, all of which were amazingly good, right down to the spices used in the regular beef taco meat. Even the beans and rice were outstanding. The building doesnt look like much, but trust me - its a diamond in the rough! Its our new favorite place to eat after a long day of fun at Jetty Island!

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant! The staff is so friendly and they get to know you. They dont play much music or have entertainment, but the quality of the food and service is absolutely amazing. The have food specials for everyday of the week and an extra special of the day. The price is moderate, but the portions are huge. The fountain drinks and lemonades are also nice sized portions and you get free refills on both. Their alcoholic beverages are yummy and pretty strong and not watered down like most places. This is the place to go for amazing Carne Asada that isnt dried out.

Where do I begin? The décor is so cute. I grew up in South Texas and it was like something back home. The food selection was great, especially if you are vegetarian and used to only one or two choices including the chips and salsa. The service is very fast and so friendly. They even have a throw blanket in a couple of the booths closest to the door for when the cold air blows in! Now talk about thinking of your patrons! The only drawback I can report is that they are not wheelchair friendly as far as the restrooms are concerned. But they are super clean.
