Terrible terrible service. We were celebrating my sisters birthday until the server (jennifer) ruined it. My sister left this place crying on her birthday. We were a huge group of friends and one of our friend left the place without paying any tip. It was because one of his friend was drunk and he left in a hurry. The server threw the bill on our table and made comments about how rude it was of our friend to not leave a tip. We immediately told them it is not ok for our friend to leave a tip and well take care of it. We all pitched in and gave them almost $50 tip on $159 bill. It was after hours and she was sitting her friends and bf at a table. The servers (Jennifers) bf started showing his muscles and trying to scare us and started name calling. We were clueless of the friend not leaving any tip but the experience we had to endure was not what you expect when youre celebrating an event. Ive never been treated that way ever at any venue. Ill never come back and will spread this word everywhere. This is not how you treat your customers. Tip is not an entitlement, it is earned.

UPDATE - Over the last year, Ive been to Amaro numerous times. The staff is definitely more friendly and professional. Their food is still exceptional and the menu rotates fairly often, which is always exciting. Updating my review to 5 star because its well deserved. My only recommendation for Amaro is to update their dessert menu. Its very limited and theres definitely room for improvement. ---------------------------------------- Original Review: Amaro has some fantastic dishes, but the entire menu is hit or miss and the staff isnt as professional as Id like them to be. 90% of the time I prefer Grazie just down the street, but Amaros pork chop is really delicious. Service & Staff: 6/10 Food Quality: 9/10 (when you order the right dish) Food Consistency: 9/10 Favorite Entree: Grilled Carlton Farms pork chop, honeycrisp apple and potato hash, pancetta, sage and cider reduction (this may have been discontinued though) Favorite Dessert: None, their dessert selection is limited

We came here on a bit of a whim. Other plans fell through, we were hungry so, seeing good reviews, we came. Man, are we glad we did. Right off the bat, the enviroment felt classy, but open and fresh. A relaxed middle ground between upscale Italian and "family" style. Then, upon telling our server we were in a small hurry, we received our appetizer, drinks, and entrees within 12 minutes. Warm and fresh. The bread for the table was fresh good, not mind blowing, but when asked for oil and balsamic, the owner/manager himself brought them quickly. The gnocchi was perfectly soft, melt on the tongue consistency. The sauce was robust but not overwhelming. The tortellini list put between our two for our favorite, but it was delish. A bit on the spicier end, but the flavor was really balanced and satisfying. The Italian Cremosas were refreshing and delish with real, quality syrups.

I had a 1 year anniversary celebration here last night and it was truly excellent. Not only was the food stellar, but the service is the best I have seen in my 2+ years of dining in and around Seattle. They really went out of their way to make me feel welcomed, to the point of having special anniversary menus and desserts! Ambiance was great and management staff actually present to keep things flowing smoothly, but nonobtrusive and always cordial when asking how the meal and service is. The price is great and you MUST check out their happy hour menu, definitely a hidden gem in this city. Coming from a restaurant management past, Im a big stickler on even minor details and these guys blew me away... oh, and did I mention the pet friendly patio? Whats not to love!

This was our first time at Amaro and we will definitely be back. The wine was excellent and paired very well with the food and they had a very extensive list of wines from around the world. The cocktails were also very delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful including the manager and the hostess. We went there with 8 people so we got to try many of the dishes and they were all very fresh an appetizing. There Pizza did not come gluten free however their pasta is gluten free and their are rigatoni Bolognese gluten-free is spectacular. The atmosphere was very inviting and warm. Altogether delicious food, wonderful staff and a very inviting and clean the restaurant.

A trip to McMenamins Anderson School is usually always followed by a trip to Amaro. My boyfriend and I always come here during their late happy hour, because we likely wouldnt pay the normal prices for their dishes. We have tried almost everything on the happy hour menu and have been happy with all of it, our favorites being the calamari and flatbread pizzas. The waitstaff is very friendly and on top of their game. We like to sit in the bar since there are some tall tables there, but the rest of the establishment is quite nice. The atmosphere is always lively despite the low mood lighting, and I love to watch the chefs work from the mirror they have hung above the kitchen.

Very nice looking place, modern and hip. Food is small in portion, which doesnt say much for Italian food. The dishes are hit or miss... If youre a big guy, order two dishes. They do well with the pork chop, but you still get hungry still. Pretty pricey. It gets pretty loud too so hard to have a conversation... Its more like a bar than a sit down and mellow out dinner place. Though they have a lot of seatings. My friends and I (10 of us) probably wont come back.

The service was excellent, the food was okay. We shared the carpaccio and I had the halibut which was under cooked and flavorless. The carrot puree and spinach were very good. My wife had the filet. Which was well cooked and presented well. The potatoes were nothing to write home about, but the sauce had a very nice taste This is the second or third time Ive been here. We came for a Valentines day dinner that was a set menu and was very good.

To be honest I didnt expect anything amazing, but the food here is remarkable. The crispy brussel sprout starter is one of the best things I have ever tasted. The portions were absolutely appropriate... more than one might get in Europe but not an obscene amount, which is often the case with Italian American restaurants. The wine list blew me away, and the service was the best Ive had in a long time. I will be back, and often.

Very slow service. Restaurant was full even on a Sunday night. We did the "3 for $30" dinner. The calamari as appetizer way surprisingly large portion. It was good. My beef brisket came overdone and was very hard to chew/swallow. Kitchen was able to make me new batch, but when at medium rare, it was very chewy. Would not recommend this dish. The rigatoni was average, as were the desserts. An overall average restaurant.

Very classy, excellent service and though its a little more on the expensive side, it is very well worth the price. I have not yet had a dish there that I was dissatisfied with. My favorite is their Gamberoni, it is absolutely delicious!! Definitely not easily replicated. I also recommend their decadent chocolate torte. Perfect place for a romantic evening
