I love to try new places and find true gems among crowd space of restaurants at the ocean front and shore drive. Simple Eats is one of the best little places in the area to eat. First of all the meals are very affordable. The food is fresh and tasty. The staff is friendly and they have a host working even though the place is small and casual enough to have a seat yourself environment. The owners are seen in the restaurant all of the time. The only two issues my opinion are the parking and hours. It is possible the hours will be adjusted when tourist season comes but for now the weekday hours are too short for me. Parking is not too much of an issue now but when everyone finds out how good the food is parking will be a major problem. So just a recap we have eaten here about 6 or 7 times. Twice we had breakfast and the other 4-5 times we had lunch. We have loved the food every time. Again this is a wonderful place to go. I would put in on my "Dont Miss" list.

Visit: Tuesday, 10/02/2015 12:00. Beautiful rustic decor! Service was very poor! No one came to our table for 10 minutes...Then a person from the back with a dirty apron and purple gloves gives us our drinks. Then we ordered. I ordered quiche and soup. Friend ordered sausage and shrimp tacos. Nothing too elaborate to cook. Quiche and soup made, 5 minute reheat, tacos 10 minute prep and cook time. 40 minutes later no food. Asked waitress who returned and said she forgot to put the order into the cook. We left. The owner was running around, but never said hi to us. Only 3 tables being waited on when we arrived and there after. Not a friendly,well run establishment. Do not think we will return too many other places to return to that have great service and a friendly atmosphere. I give it one star for Poor service.

Numerous brunches and wedding/reception: Weve been to Simple Eats for breakfast or brunch several times and enjoyed it quite a bit. Very tasty food and the staff is always great! Then we asked about wedding receptions and was told sure. We planned our small wedding reception in the back room and even had to move our ceremony back there just the day before due to weather. Sandy and her team were amazing and were a major part of our day ultimately going amazingly! The service was above and beyond, and the menu they prepared for us was excellent and impressed all of our guests. Forgot to send my compliments to the chef. Thanks Simple Eats!

Affordable Spa Services
I eat a paleo diet so hardly ever eat out bc its always a pain to have the server look at you funny when you ask questions they should know the answer to but do not. Not here. The simple 1 page menu can accomodate any diet it seems. I had no problem finding food I could eat and our server Chris was willing to make substitutions to satisfy my concerns. I love to support local anyway and I count chemicals not calories so this place was perfect for me. Real food, not boxed junk. Food was amazing, we all cleaned our plates and left full. Portion sizes were exactly what we needed and everything was so fresh. Will def be back anytime Im in VA beach.

First time I went here the food was a bit pricy, but very good. I had the snapper sandwich and it was delicious. Second time we got a sausage flatbread that had no sausage and shrimp and grits that was the worst Ive ever had as well as a basil, tomato, mozzarella burger that I wouldnt have paid more than 4 bucks for due to lack of flavor and that happened to be 12$. Truly dissapointed. Waitress was friendly both times, however, we overheard the owner talking bad about us for complaining to the waitress. I may come back if someone in my family with a lot of money comes into town hoping it was just a bad experience.

Mixed emotions. Food quality was great. Hostess (older lady) was unorganized & the food took a hour to come out. (Sandwich and crab benny, nothing difficult) All the hot sides were cold on both plates. Waitress was great and friendly. Poached eggs over cooked and missing the egg whites. Food quality was great. It is Labor, but not all the tables were occupied. Saw two tables leave due to long food wait. Great food, great atmosphere and the management needs to focus on the details which can make or break the visit. Will come back though. Being positive!!

The owner treats her employees poorly. My husband, a disabled veteran employed at this restaurant, came home distraught more of than not because of her harsh treatment. He wound up quitting because she put him on restriction for leaving early to take himself to the emergency room. I cannot endorse a place of business where the owner is cruel and disrespectful to the majority of her employees, can be heard by her customers yelling from the kitchen and cannot keep her staff for more than a few months.

The service at this establishment is horrible !!!!!!! Staff are liars and treat their customers with no respect. Our party literally waited 50 mins for our food and still was not served and the server lied on our wait times. We asked to speak the manager and It never came out to applogize. Instead their sad taste of uniform server came out to hand our tickets... and acted as if nothing was wrong. No consideration for customer service or their own dignity.

This is my first time to do a review however I cant stop talking about Simple Eats so I felt the need to post! The farm to table restaurant is a foodie haven!! Everything on the menu is fresh, delicious, and affordable!! The decor is primitive beach theme with a light and airy style. Service was equally as good. You must find an excuse to stop for brunch, lunch, dinner, drinks...its the best place in the area hands down!!

The food was great and so was the service, however there were flies buzzing all over the place and thats a huge turn off. The back door was cracked and people kept going in and out so thats probably why, but they should consider some way to keep it under control. There were at least 5 flies buzzing around our food. It was almost frustrating to eat because we kept having to swat them. Gross too.

Absolutely loved my first time here. The waiter had no idea what was on his beer list, but I think he was probably 21 and didnt know what good beer is yet, seriously. We didnt mind that at all. The food was great and it always delightful to know that youre eating local. The décor and artwork all over the walls is perfect for their VB location. Loved it and will be taking friends!

I actually found this place on Google Maps and read the reviews. Most were very complementary so I decided to try it out. I have to say I was very impressed with dinner at Simple Eats. I had the meatloaf, which was a good sized portion. The mixed vegetables and potatoes had a very good flavor as well. Everyone enjoyed their food. No complaints.Id go back in a heartbeat.
