When my husband and I found out there was a Scandinavian restaurant, we were exceptionally excited. We went in, mouths watering at the thought of these delicious, traditional dishes. Those hopes were added to when we were told an AMAZING new chef from New York was brought down and hired. Then we opened the menu. There are, maybe, 5 Scandinavian dishes on the expansive menu. It is 98% American dishes. For an app we got the salmon, which was pretty decent. I got the meatballs, which were room temperature (at best) and the alright gravy was congealed and obviously not any semblance of fresh. My husband got the Kaldolmar which was pretty good, but nearly frozen in the middle it was so cold, the replacement brought was not much better. Taste wise... it was Meh. So much for that awesome chef. We left filled with disappointment. After talking some, we decided that maybe they just had an off night. It was VERY slow when we were there - maybe the super awesome chef went home because of that. So we decided, the following weekend, to give it another go for breakfast. Yum! A traditional Scandinavian breakfast (the two options). I got the Viking breakfast. (Im sitting here looking at a blinking cursor trying to find where to start on this disaster, how about with the good?). I liked the toast, a lot. It was grilled, like grilled cheese. Buttery and delicious. Yum. Thats the only good thing I have to say on my dish. The Swedish pancake was not cooked past 1" in and they should have had ligonberries (helllooooo, thought I was in a Scandinavian restaurant, whats with the stingy on the berries?). The potatoes lacked... everything. They looked, and tasted, deep fried from a bag. The eggs looked like I went to Waffle House and everything was 5 degrees below room temperature. Hubs got the Pytt I Panna (Swedish Hash) which was bland, and cold (Im sensing a theme). The wait staff, is AWESOME. Friendly, pleasant, always a smile. Theyre the only reason I gave two stars. We really wanted to like this place. Maybe the American food is good? I dont know. I went to a Scandinavian restaurant to have (gasp) Scandinavian food. And this place feel WAY short on that point. Its too bad, really.

Absolutely amazing food! My wife and I were starving and wanted to get some late lunch around 3pm on a Friday, we decided on a place but found out they didnt open till 5. Dish was right across the street and had good reviews so we decided to give them a shot instead. We were instantly greeted when we arrived and felt welcomed immediately, our waitress was Debbi and she was super friendly. We decided on Swedish Meatballs and the "Fish in Chips". They were both absolutely amazing, but the French fries were just the best fries weve ever had, the best way to describe them would be salt and vinegar infused. I will be coming back to Virginia Beach just for these fries. Another thing about the fish in chips, The fish was much better than the overpriced meals we had at Bubbas the night before. Definitely give this place a chance, its amazing.

Never again, charged me $2 for a plate to share some food with my child. ON MOTHERS DAY! I understand that if the plate was split in the kitchen and the sides were topped of by the cooks, there is definitely a charge for that. Beyond that, obviously not impressed. We were just trying to be nice, and not let our child make a mess on the table. But, I guess that comes at a price. If you want to spend $6-7 dollars for a mimosa, go right ahead. But, I can tell you there are plenty of better places on shore dr. We have lived on shore dr. for ten years. From one local to another, dont waste your time and money.

Shore Drive is the official breakfast spot in Virginia Beach. With so many places to eat, SweDish is craving out isnt own territory. It is a small breakfast place with a swedish twist and a few things that separate it from the rest like a Bloody Mary Bar with a ton of different ingredients! My wife loved it! Now the wait can be a little long if you going on Sunday but it was worth it. Big portions and nothing to expensive. Not a quite place by any means but differently becoming a locals favorite!

I absolutely LOVE this restaurant, and so does everyone I take here. I have taken 5 people on different occasions and they all want to return. Food prices are reasonable and definitely worth the cost. My second time going my friend and I ordered the Shrimp and grits...OMG the were fantastic! I went back again and ordered them but had a different cook and they were still really good, just not as good as the first time. This restaurant is hands down one of my faves!!!!!!!

Third visit, tried breakfast, lunch, and now dinner. Each meal was outstanding. The details of our dinner (5/16/2015) include my wife having grilled Flounder and I had the Oyster Dinner. Both were outstanding (clearly 5s). I realize that when one goes out for fresh seafood most of us look for the standard places and forget that seafood is very important to the Swedish people. And, the owner of this place place knows how to do it and that freshness is key.

Menu has so many delectable choices that Ill have to go back to try some of the others! I was with a group of ten, and everyone was impressed. My Chix Beach Benedict was out of this world. Choosing grits as my side, I actually brought half of the Benedict home because of the size of the serving. My dish had two full-sized crab cakes, one on each half of the English muffin with prosciutto, egg, and Hollandaise. Yum!

I love this place. Its hard to find Scandinavian food anywhere in the USA, I live a minimum of 5 hours in any direction from an IKEA so this is a gem. All day breakfast, mimosas, and traditional Swedish dishes. I beasted The Viking breakfast today which was great! The Viking includes 1 plate-sized waffle 1" thick, 2 swedish pancakes, 3 eggs cooked to order, bacon, sausage, and homestyle fried potatoes.

Missed the turn for dunkin donuts decided to stop in here. Very relaxed atmosphere and cheerful staff. The price really reflects what youre getting. Ordered the smoked gravlax platter and the presentation alone was so cute. Sesame seed griddled bagel with smoked salmon herb cream cheese capers tomato and lemon. The coffee wasnt bitter and I would totally visit this Swedish joint again

Absolutely horrible dinner...I dont normally do Google ratings, but feel compelled to here. Every appetizer and entree my group of 6 had was bland and way over priced. Dont let the service staff tell you how great the specials are..."absolutely best pork chop Ive ever had"...yeah, whatever, must have been the only pork chop shed ever had. Couldnt pay me to go back.

I visited VB for a wedding and was lucky enough to stumble upon this restaurant on the first day of my stay. I ate breakfast here for the next three days. The food was absolutely wonderful, the staff was fantastic, and the steady stream of 90s alternative hit singles played as background music just enhanced our enjoyment. 6/5 stars.

This is my fave brunch place. So many choices for mimosas, and every food option I have tried is ridiculously delicious. I love the blintzes and anything they make with avacado. They also take reservations, making it easy to get in even on busy days. The staff is s nice and helpful. I keep coming back again and again.
