Ive been to Citrus twice and needless to say Im not impressed. Theres always a long wait. The first time I ordered the lump crab omelet. The egg was way too thick for me. The second time I ordered French toast with a fried egg, hash browns and sausage links. The French toast was not hot, and it basically look like miniature Texas toast pieces of bread brushed with a little cinnamon mixture. I didnt receive my egg and was told theyd bring it out. Well my egg never came. When I received my check, I noticed that I was charged extra for a slice of cheese that my daughter ordered for her cheeseburger in addition to being charged full price for my breakfast. I was offended because how could you see fit to even charge for cheese when you all never even brought my egg out and apologized for it. Give me a break! After bringing it to their attention, they said theyd see if they can take it off and they did....but why not just accommodate the customer to begin with knowing you all dropped the ball?!

I have eatten at Citrus several times usally the experience is great. I like the one off shore drive much better than the great neck location. The one at great neck is not as hospitabile. The food is mediocre, we feel rushed and you dont have that family atmosphere feeling like you do at Shore Dr.. There is also one other disturbing problem there is a waitress there sometimes a hostess who serves us that weares the shortest shorts and the dirtiest shoes. It is so unapeeling. The other servers wear appropriate clothing. Sometimes We have had her as our server and I am sure that she smells like she hasnt bathed in days. She has bites all over her. Her personality is somewhat pleasant but like it is a chore to put on a smile. She use to be our server at Shore Drive and now she seems to be more on the side lines at the great neck location. I wish you much more continued success.

As a seasoned Citrus customer- 1. with a "25-30 minute wait" turning into 55 minutes without any explanation or reassurance. 2. Sat our party of 10 at two separate tables. 1 inside and 1 outside. 3. Immediately after being sat a table next to one of our parties opened up-we were NOT allowed to move. 4. Omelette eggs were RAW and it was not taken off the bill-when mentioned the server said, "ill try to get her (the manager) to take it off the bill." 5. Never did the manager come over to apologize or recover the poor service. 6. Instead the owner was extremely rude and blatantly ignored us. He was out of line. All 10 of us will NEVER return and we will discourage all from spending their money at this establishment. No business in the service industry should treat customers the way we were treated. just fyi-dont say i didnt warn you.

I LOVED this place! My fiance and I went for brunch to Citrus on a Saturday a little past noonish. We had a 15-20 min wait and the host directed us to the bar at the back of the restaurant. We both ordered mimosas, the bartenders were sweet, fast, and helpful. There was plenty of space to sit and wait until a table cleared up for us to eat. We enjoyed our mimosas until our buzzer buzzed. Then we were directed to the patio to be seated. The weather was fabulous which made it really nice to sit outside. The server was really sweet and attentive. I got the eggs Benedict with crab and hollandaise sauce, and cheesy hash browns! My fiance got the crab omelet and cheesy grits and a biscuit. We absolutely loved the food, it was delicious!!! We are definitely going to make this a regular place for brunch yummm :)

This restaurant was suggested to my husband and I by an employee at the Cheesecake Factory believe it or not! We were very glad we decided to follow through and try it out! I had the banana nut pancakes with link sausage.I enjoyed EVERY bit of my meal including my fresh squeezed, grapefruit, Mimosa! My husband had the Citrus pancakes minus the bananas due to his food allergy and a Tropical Mimosa. He was pleasantly surprised at the size of the portion, fluffiness of the pancakes, and their "something I cant put my finger on" taste! We will definitely be making the 15-20minute trip from Chesapeake now that we know about this place! Definitely worth the drive & wait. Great food & service! Everyone was friendly & upbeat! We thought Broken Egg was the best before last Saturday :)

Citrus is one of my favorite breakfast (they also have lunch items too) spots to go to. I love their pancakes and you definitely get a lot for your buck. The food has always been awesome but I usually come to Citrus when I need a little something extra in my OJ. Citrus has some of the best mimosas in Hampton Roads. They are constantly creating a new mimosa. They also have other drinks and have a bar area in the back of the restaurant. Thats a plus when theyre busy because you can grab a couple of drinks wjile you wait on a table. However, the last two times I went there was no wait. I believe opening the second location that is on the other end of Great Neck near Virginia Beach Blvd., has alleviated some of the crowd and reduced wait time. I definitely recommend Citrus.

My overall experience was a negative one. Took a date to Citrus for at 1 pm for lunch. It took 10 minutes to get a table so I decided to order a couple of mimosas at the waiting area bar. Ended up $24 lighter, tip included, before even being sat. My main qualm with this place was how rushed we felt before, during, and after our meals - e.g. I had barely touched my food before the waitress handed me the check. We ended up staying at our table for 45 minutes, 1-hr max. To be fair, the food was good. I had the crab omelette, which came with above par made-from-scratch hash browns. My date let me taste her blueberry french toast, which, I am reluctant to admit, was pretty good. My bill had a few minor mystery up-charges which I did not bother to question.

Was looking forward to trying this place based on the reviews. The breakfast was pretty good, but I was not blown away. My turkey sausage was very salty and over cooked. My scrambled eggs had a weird taste to them. There pancakes were very good though, some of the best ive ever had. My husband had a crab omelette and it was really good with a lot of crab meat. Our waitress wasnt the best, she kept forgetting stuff. And we sat right by were the food was coming out, which was very annoying. There was a guy (probably manager) standing there observing all the food coming out and telling waitresses he needed runners to take the food to tables. He stood there the whole time which was irritating. But good place. Wasnt blown away to go back a second time.

At Citrus on Saturday morning and told a 1 hour wait. After an hour, inquired as to status. Informed "its going to be a little while longer." "Noticed larger parties arriving after us were seated and another party of 2 (like us) who arrived same time as we were still waiting. Asked the hostess why they show deference to larger parties and not to couples as well as not factoring in arrival times...response was "I was looking out for seats at the bar for you, but they were taken by other parties of two." We waited patiently for a table thinking we would be treated equally and fairly and not discriminated against. People should be seated based on the time of arrival, any other criteria is unfair and a terrible way to do business.
