What you are about to read is my opinion. Wow, where do I start. If it were not for the shear fact that Finn McCools is the only bar on the corner and that they sell alcohol, they would of been out of business long ago. Trust me, this is the ONLY thing holding this place together. In my opinion if you have never have been to Finn McCools then DO NOT GO, you have been warned. The little short overweight guy walking around calling himself a manager because someone gave him a cute little button that says "Manager" does not constitute him being a manager. A manager solves a customers problem or solves his/her employees problems for them. He does neither. He couldnt manager himself out of a wet paper bag, he would need help from his staff of course. My friends and family have given this place way to many chances to prove itself to just be mediocre. They have failed. From horrible food to horrible service this place should not get a star at all. The reason I gave it 1 star is because you have to. The only good thing that comes out of this place is that they have nothing to do with the beer that is served. If they did, once again you would be disappointed. Having been in the Restaurant business and now a business owner myself I must say that I really feel sorry for the staff that has to work with this management. You will no longer see any of my hard earned money again.

My wife and I ate lunch at Finn McCools on 10/8/2009. We asked to be reseated since the (no smoking) veranda area they sat us in reeked like stale smoke. The restaurant atmosphere itself was very nice inside. The service was average. They put too many limitations on the Entertainment coupon we presented, i.e. they wouldn’t count a burger as an “entrée.” The food was especially disappointing. The she crab soup, which was labeled on the menu as “Voted Best in Virginia Beach,” was tasty enough but lacked the a sufficient quantity of crab to be rated “BEST.” My wife had the Giants Causeway Fish & Chips and I had the Stuffed Shrimp with Cheesy Potato Cakes and Creamed Spinach. The food as a whole was very bland except the Cheesy Potato Cake (ball) which was very good. The fish was over cooked to the point where it was dark brown. The fish had shrunk so there were large pockets of air between the fish and breading. Other parts of the overdone filets had globs of uncooked batter. The chips were palatable. When taking the first bite of my stuffed shrimp, I had the instant sensation that the shrimp had turned bad. (Anyone who has eaten bad shrimp knows what in mean.) The crab stuffing had no flavor and the creamed spinach was like eating tasteless spinach soup.

Sitting here with my wife..lets just say dont waist your money.I just had the jerk an bbq wings. They were the only things that were average. Our Waitress was polight..But when we ask to be seated inside the back of the restaurant it was nasty. Our table was nasty as heck.A young lady who was aslo a waitress came out to clean it..had a attitude from hell like she really didnt want to be here at all.My wife ordered the fish n chips.I ordered this fish tacos.Wifey fish in chips were greasy an hard. She took 2 bites an was done.I myself ate 1 fish taco an was done. The best thing was the H2o.Thank you God for water.Save yo2u money. We had a gift card coupon from bjs.So we decide to finally check this place out.Straight Dud.I hope the owners revise this place inside an out..would be a cool place to come if the food an wait staff was on point.

Visited this place about a week ago, wanting a Guiness with friends! I asked the server if the bartender knew how to properly poor a Guiness and she said yes. Having been in England recently, I knew what it should look and taste like.. And roughly how long it takes to pour one. This awful drink appeared in front of me in record time, less than 2 minutes, fully settled. I gave it a shot and sipped it. NOTHING about this distinct beer was right. It was watery, and just really gross. I ordered the filet mignon bites as a snack and the meat was very tough. This was my 2nd time there and Im not sure why I hadnt learned my lesson the first time as that was a bad experience too! My suggestion for the bartender is... Watch a you tube video on Guiness pouring.

The waitstaff is very rude. Our food we ordered was completly wrong and when we told our waitress she rolled her eyes and said she would be right back, never came back and when we finaaly got the manager charlottes attetion after several attempts or her ignoring us came over. grabbed out plates and said she would be back with our right food. When she brought our food back it was cold and still not right. we told her again and wanted it off our bill she refused to take it off saying everything was right the second time. We will not be going back and we will be informing everyone we know that they are very rude and the food is way overpriced for the quality and quanity you get! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO NO ONE ITS HORRIBLE

Horrible service ! The hostess was very unprofessional. Our server spent more time chatting with the other servers than getting our food or drinks. The appatizer came out same time as our lunch. The beers (2) took 10 mins to get to us ! The place was not busy at all and 80% of the people already had their food. I will not be returning and unless they do a staff overhaul and would not recommend anyone else going there. Over priced food and snail paced service ! This is not the first time I have seen this in a review for them . You think the GM would get it together ! Sad just sad excuse of a place!

This is an Irish Pub in the popular Landstown Commons shopping center in Virginia Beach, just across Dam Neck Road from the Farmers Market. The restaurant is tucked into a corner of the shopping center, which means it usually is not too busy. I like it as an alternative to the much busier Buffalo Wild Wings as a place to watch the game. Finn McCools has some outdoor seating, which Ive never used. The service is good enough. The food is standard Irish fare, nothing special, but its pretty affordable. Overall, Ive been there several times and am sure I will be back. Never had a bad experience.

First they shouldnt have a shovanist GM run a staff mostly comprised of females. The owner Jeff should do some investigation on the individual he entrusts to run one of restaurants. On another note the food can be cheap and could be tasty that day, its a hit or miss. But if you find a hair in your food the manager will likely talk bad about YOU in the back and then say you just wanted a free meal (seen this happen) To sum up my thoughts about Finns...spend your money somewhere else. This place doesnt care about its workers and it doesn’t care about the customer.
