One word: WOW! My wife and I went for lunch recently and were very, very impressed. The staff are all very sociable and friendly. Service was quick, and the food ... well, the food was amazing. We started small with some of the "table side" guacamole. A woman brought out a cart and made it in front of us. It looked simple enough, some avocado, onions, cilantro, and tomatoes. How good could it be? Well, it was some of the BEST guacamole weve had in years! Our 1 year old son even loved it (and hes a picky eater) and kept pointing to it asking for more. My wife ordered the shrimp tacos. When they arrived there were three of them and they were BIG. My wife was very happy to point out there were lots of shrimp in each taco. She says "They certainty didnt scrimp on the shrimp!" They were very good. I ordered the enchiladas Nortenas. These were presented beautifully, with a little grated cheese and some squirts of melted cheese - it was very artistic. The enchiladas were the best I have had in over 20 years. I grew up near the central valley of California, where *real* Mexican restaurants are everywhere, and this food was equal if not better than any I recall visiting. Again, our son ate everything we did, and he kept asking for more. He could not get enough! The margaritas were good, a little heavy on the tequila, but ... thats a good thing, right? :) All told, our bill came to $50 for the guacamole, two entrees, and two margaritas. Compared to Don Pablos or Los Toltecos ... Plaza Azteca is VASTLY better. We will be returning here as our new favorite (and only good) Mexican restaurant in the Sterling area.

I thought about starting this review like a tool and stating my Mexican pedigree like so many others do.. "born in Mexico or spent a year in Texas. " Really, that makes you better at judge of what good food taste like? Perhaps they just want to inject themselves into the review. What a bunch of.... Anyways, Im fat and I love to eat. Boom! Service was great though Im not one who judges a restaurant by their service. My order was taken promptly food came out in a timely manner. The server check in on me after the first bite and so forth. Yada Yada Yada Now for what matters the food. I love Mexican food. This was good not the best but good. The chips were your standard affair though the salsa was too bland for my taste. I could taste the tomato but nothing else popped. I ordered fajitas chorizo, steak, and chicken. It came out as a giant hep on an iron skillet. (way too much food) The chorizo was flavorful in the sausage department but not very spicy. The steak was a bit tough and blended in with the chicken flavor. As for the chicken, its chicken. The sides were Spanish rice, white cheese sour cream and refried beans with more white cheese. The rice was decent but still had the shape of whatever they used to scoup it onto the plate. The beans were beans and unfortunately melted the white shredded cheese that was laying next to it. All and all it was good just bland. That being said a lot of people enjoy bland Mexican. I do on occasion as well. I will go back the next time I have a craving for that type of Mexican.

I will no longer bring my business to this place. We have been here before and each time bring 70-80 people as we have car meets here. But today we went and first off service was terrible got our main courses before our appetizers and before we even received waters or drinks. That is all besides the point we sat at a large table with a group of friends and I put my Oakley sun glasses on the table well I ended up accidentally leaving them on them table. Yes my fault I know I understand that. But I walked back in 10 minutes after we walked out to see if I could find them and the tables had been cleared and cleaned so I asked a member of the staff if anyone had them or turned them in. He told me no so I asked to speak to the manager and immediately got push back from him with his opening statement being we dont steal things here. I never accused anyone of stealing anything first of all. I asked if we could look at the cameras to see what had happened as there was a camera pointed directly at the table and they were conveniently not working. He would not speak to his staff to ask for my glasses or try to help me find them at all just kept saying nothing he could do for me and he is not responsible for lost items so therfore he would do nothing to help me. When I asked for the owners to call me because he was rude and not helpful he laughed at me. Needless to say our team will no longer return to this place and I will wait for a call if I do not receive one I will be filing complaints to the BBB.

I came into the restaurant, and there were two young ladies greeting everyone as they (we) entered with a warm smile as the weather gets colder outside, i had a table right away there was no waiting time (saturday 5pm) usually everywhere is really hard to get in, the place was full but the flow of in and out parties was great allowing everyone to get service expedite and corteous, server was great food was servede fast like if the place was totally empty and i were the only person there. Food is great and service as well, ive been coming here for the past couple of weeks on a different days and times and is always the same great service. This time i had The azteca soup. Its a classic tomato chicken soup with creamy body and tortilla crispy stripes, avocado and queso fresco. it really tastes like mexican soup. Ranchero especial. Its a combination of steak grill cooked at perfection, chicken breast pan fried, but still great, sided by a chicken enchilada, rice(presented very well on the plate and pico de gallo. Good plece. As a food service and customer service profeaional i am impressed with the service and food overall.

Been wanting to try Plaza Azteca after reading all the good reviews and checking out the menu. I noticed they made my favorite, fried chimichangas with "shredded beef" and not ground beef. Im ordering!!! Still a bit skeptical..I ordered a second dinner of Chile Rellenno just in case. I also decided to try their guacamole and chips. I ordered all of this to pick up. I saw all the generous portions and thought, what was I thinking! Awesome, awesome, awesome food! And the gentleman at the front desk was very knowledgeable about the menu and professional with a friendly attitude! He took the time to make sure my order in the bag was correct with me. I cant name one other place I have been that made think right away, Im coming back and eating inside next time if this is good and I will be doing that! I recommend this place to everyone. I will probably be having chimichanga and 1.5 chile rellenno for breakfast and lunch tomorrow and I wont mind at all. I had a 5 star experience so thats what I rated it.
