Im rather hard to please. I supposed you could say Im one of those picky snobby, health oriented people. At least thats what I was called in high-school.. Anyway, because I am such, I was pleasantly surprised that despite being a 50s themes diner, this place had healthy nutritional food, I mean who was nutrition oriented in the 50s right? My husband and I went here for a weekend to try something new. I ordered a fully organic and nutritional meal with extra turkey bacon and strawberries and my hubby ordered a burger with a side of cheese fries. My food was tasty which pleased me because I have such a hard time finding a cook who can cook food without dousing them in oil and other unhealthy ingredients, and you specially dont expect that kind of cook to be in a diner. And I dont want my husband to know, but while he went to the mens room, I took a bite of his fries... I dont know if it is because I usually forbid myself from eating that kind of food or what, but those fries were perfection. People dont seem to like the theme of the restaurant coupled with healthy food, but why not? The restaurant can be 50s themed, doesnt mean we have to eat like them... the death rate was considerably higher and Im sure the eating habits had something to do with that.

This used to be a family and extended family favorite!!! We thought it was neat that they were going fresh and local for produce and some other items, but now they have gone way off the deep end. EVERYTHING on the menu is at least $10. Even the 100% hormone free organic paddy melt and locally grown fries, in smaller, more calorie friendly portions. They are lucky the organic ketchup didnt suck. That can go either way. My little one got a $5 serving of Mac n cheese that she hated. No veggies no sides. She wanted her usual mini Burger, strawberries, and side of Mac n cheese, but they pre portion the Mac in the morning, they dont have side orders of it any more, so you can get you child two $5 meals, or just forget about it. I hope this is bring in revenue for them. But, I see why we havent seen a line out the door like we used to. It isnt worth it. You may as well go to Outback! Same price, better food, more choices.

This was our first encounter with this particular franchise, and my husband and I were initially expecting a very corporate dining experience, but we were floored with the level of service provided by our waiter Marquis. He was incredibly genuine and helpful in every context, going as far as to hang up our jackets for us and walking us out of the restaurant so that he could hold the door for us when we were ready to leave. The food was very well prepared and the kitchen totally understands the concept of a rare steak, cooking it perfectly. I think I wouldnt have left a review if it had just been the food alone, but Marquis was such an incredibly good server, I just had to let this business know how awesome he is as an asset to their organization. Best wait service Ive ever received. Five stars.

The service is good normally, often excellent. The food is amazing -- farm to table, fresh, flavorful. I like the protein-rich power breakfast. There are many heart healthy and gluten free options. I really enjoy the whole diner experience too. All of the seats are booths. The kitchen is semi-open with a food bar in front. There are nice deals for seniors and a big kids menu too. The milkshakes are a big hit with our kids! Also, they offer a free entre and dessert for rewards members birthdays without a required additional purchase. So, I was able to feed my whole family for $40, including the appropriate tip. Finally, they handle menu alterations well. E.g. They built a buffalo chicken sandwich for my husband even though its not on the menu. One more thing: the carrot cake is amazing!

My wife and I have recently moved into the Springfield area, and have been focusing on supporting local businesses. Obviously one of our first orders of business was to find our nearest Saturday morning breakfast joint. The Silver Diner has fit the bill wonderfully. The food is cooked well and quickly, but even more important, the Diner has made an effort to support local produce and organic produce as much as reasonably possible. The servers are friendly and attentive, though typically a little overworked on a weekend, and we have never ordered anything that was short of delicious. Some long lines on a weekend morning, but that is to be expected with a decent breakfast place.

Non-military friendly. I asked if they gave out military discount for veterans before sitting down, and the server said sure. After finishing up my meal and given my check, I had ask for my military discount and was all of a sudden told in a rude manner that I should be either be in full military attire, or law enforcement on duty.I was like really?Talked to the manager and denied my discount after showing proof of ID and other credentials that I had served. I was outraged and I couldnt believe what was happening!!! I had no other option but to pay the bill, w/o tip. No compassion for military vets whatsoever who have served and fought for this country. Never coming back again!

Food is decent but their service is absolutely horrible. Stood up front and waited to be seated for over 5 minutes. We were passed by 7 employees before even being acknowledged. Then they just said "we will be with you in a moment" and then continued on. We continued to wait for another several minutes. Then once finally seated it took an extended time to get our server over to us just to get our drinks. The food was good but the service was just horrible. This is the second time this type of thing has happened so safe to say my family and I will not be back. If you are looking for some decent diner type food there are places with better service in the area.

Silver Diner is truly one of Springfields best local restaurants. While SD is a chain by the strictest definition, its a local chain focused on offering food made with locally sourced ingredients. SD offers amazing food, from the areas best pancakes to tasty meatloaf to scrumptious milkshakes to omelets, burgers, and much more. Their crab cakes are also quite good (get them off the lunch menu - only available on weekdays - for the best value). Their freshly baked biscuits are not to be missed, served with all natural (no HFCS) jellies. Joining their mailing list/Eat Well-Do Well frequent customer club will get you regular discounts, including $5 off coupons.

Wanted to take my family from out of town to have a nice dinner. Well it did not end that way because of the food. Everything came out cold and the fries were even cold(seriously). Then not to long after leaving everyone started having stomach pains and a flow from the behind. The manager did give coupons for free entrees thanks but no thanks and will not go back and endure more. Will make sure to tell friends to seek other places . Again appreciate the gesture from the manager but just didnt seem really concerned with us as customers but rather just try to get us back. Others might have better luck but for me and my family no thanks.
