My family and I have been coming here for years for our large family celebrations. Over 20 years I dont think much has changed. As you enter, you get this feeling of being in an old rusty attic. A lot of dark wood pillars. They used to have a huge dust problem. The sunlight from the skylight would shine down on your table and youd see dust swaying as your dining. Thank goodness they mustve recently installed a new ventilation system that sucks all that excess dust out. Now on to the brunch food. Id prol rate it 3/5. Everything felt like it was missing something. Pancakes and waffles are made then stored in a well covered metal steel container so when you try to crack that crispy waffle its all soggy and not very appetizing. Beef bolognese was cooked very well, but it does not come with noodles instead rice. Their soup du jour is usually a cream of mushroom soup with too many table spoons of salt. Highlights of our meal were definitely the salad and fruit bar. Everything from the kale, tomato to pasta salad. All were very fresh and you can tell recently prepared. Fruit bar has pineapple, watermelon, and winter melon. A chef was always present at the lox station. Carefully carving beautifully sliced pieces of fish. All the meats were delicious and cooked well. There is turkey bacon, sausage, veal, and country ham. I stayed away from all the baked pastries and goods. Many of my family members said they were stale. Always remember to save your stomach for their deserts. They have a nice assortment of sweets from key lime pie, chocolate cake, to creme brulee. In conclusion, this is a brunch buffet location you will always leave full. But wondering why you spent over $30. Food is always lacking something. Having a lot of French family members in our party they kept mentioning how the cuisine was a poor attempt of French flavors. Service is consistently great here. Setting a reservation and seated in less than 5 minutes is never a problem. If your in the area looking for other options Id recommend the Marriott hotel right by Mall. Its their headquarters location so you know they will always be setting the bar. Also Sugo in Potomac. Their menu is always changing and innovating something Normandie may need to start doing.

We just got back from a birthday dinner at Normandie Farms. Even as recently as last year, we had a good dining experience there. Tonight, however, bore witness that this place has taken a complete turn for the absolute worse: -The mussels appetizers were tough and dry, and the sauce was less-than-inspiring. I have literally had better mussels from frozen packages from the grocery store. -The lobster bisque was so bad that both people who ordered it at our table immediately sent it back. It was unbalanced, harsh, and seemed to have no sherry in it at all. They did not offer to remake it. -The lobster was decent enough and the steak was quite tasty, but the veal dish was very dry and overcooked. -Most shocking of all was the service. I have food sensitivities, and asked about substituting out the standard side items (a potato and a baked tomato), as I cannot eat those foods without getting ill. We had about five waiters hovering around, and none of them were willing to make a substitution without charging for it. My mother-in-law asked for a simple substitution as she ordered (green beans for mixed vegetables), and they would not do even that much without asking for more money. At over $20 a plate, this is insulting and unacceptable--especially when my request was not even a matter of preference, but a matter of what I can and cannot eat. -Speaking of the nickle-and-dime approach of Normandie Farms, be forewarned that they do not give free refills on soft drinks. Be prepared to pay by the glass. -Despite the above, we paid the full bill and politely spoke to the manager about the experience tonight. He did not seem especially apologetic. Rather, he seemed to have the attitude that bad dining experiences are par for the course at Normandie Farms. Needless to say, I would not go back there even if the food were free--much less for "haute cuisine" prices. There are a plethora of good French restaurants in the D.C. area where one can find outstanding food and respectful service for similar amounts of money. And those are exactly where I will be going for future occasions.

This is a quaint upscale French restaurant in Potomac and we finally came here for dinner on a Thursday evening. The place was quite busy with a few private events going on. The main dining area had a few groups having dinner. The restaurant is a rather rustic looking house that has the feel and decor of the 70s. While that is good, I just wish they could carry out some upgrades so that it has a more upscale and polished look to justify the price on the menu! Other than that, it was a great evening. Food is excellent - all our dishes were top notch and it was food heaven tasting all the dishes on the table. The service was between good and very good - between attentive and semi-forgotten states. We had the Escargots for appetizer - great flavors and cooked just right with a sliver of crouton to go with it! For main course, we had Filet of Beef Wellington, Brochette of Beef Tenderloin, Escalope of Veal “Oscar”, and Roasted Filet of Chilean Sea Bass. All the meats were cooked just right and were moist and tender! The puff pastry of the Beef Wellington was crisp and savory. The Sea Bass was buttery and full of flavors :) The crab with the veal was a lovely combination in the Veal Oscar. Even the rice of the Brochette was a nice complement to the main dish! The main course portions are quite generous - an Americanization of the cuisine :) A true local gem and we will definitely be back for more.

Total waste of money. I took a few people to the brunch on Sunday the 23rd for my mothers birthday. She drives past the restaurant every day and wanted to try it. The food was not even mediocre. It was not cooked fresh. The beef stroganoff was served with saffron rice.... The beef was chewy. I was not even able to cut through the top round and it chewed like beef jerky. The veal Marsala was chewy. How do you screw up veil? It tasted like they took the same gravy for the stroganoff and added a little Marsala to it. The Eggs Benedict had soggy English muffins and the hollandaise sauce was cold with a film over the top because it was sitting for so long. The pancakes and waffles were not made to order as the website states. I honestly felt like I went to a buffet at an all inclusive restaurant in the Caribbean and the theme was "french/american". 4 people came to $150 plus we gave a $20 tip to the waitress. I know its a buffet but at $36 a plate I expect the food to be close to what you would serve at a dinner. If I received any of those items at your full menu price I would have simply got up and walked out the door without complaining. Im honestly shocked at how bad the food was. I actually called my bank to see if I could cancel my credit card charges,,,, it was that bad.

This is a restaurant that secretly charges more than you agree to pay. Over a month ago we had Sunday brunch there. I paid the bill and added the tip to make the total amount an even number. However, after the credit card statement came a few days later, I noticed the payment for Normandie Farms was not an even number. I retrieved a copy of the receipt and found the payment showing on the credit card statement was more than the amount on my signed bill. In other words, this restaurant overcharged me. I immediately called the restaurant and the manager there pretended to be shocked and said he was going to investigate this matter. But of course he didnt and I have never heard from him since. I disputed the charge through my credit card company and they refunded me the difference. Now, everyone, if you dare to dine at Normandie Farm, please retain a receipt and remember the amount you agree to pay. Check your credit card statement and make sure they have not overcharged you. This place is a total FRAUD and I will never go there anymore. BTW, they use a very strong and stinky detergent to wash their seat cover and table cloth. After going home, the strong stinky odor from the table/seat cover lives in our clothes for days until we completely washed our clothes. How disgusting!
