The manager (white female with dark brown hair) was so unbelievably rude! My boyfriend found mold on his half eaten burger and she argued with me that it wasnt mold. She only addressed me after I asked to see a manager but she received word from the waiter that we speculated mold on the bread beforehand. Instead of being a WOMAN and MANAGER about it by coming to my table, apologizing for the situation and offering fresh bread or a free burger or maybe a new burger, she offered fifty percent off of his one burger! No way! Take the burger off the tab or offer another! She must have thought I was stupid because when she handled that situation so poorly, Ive been writing reviews all over the web about the poor service and moldy bread. Luckily, our waiter was business savvy enough to pay for the burger, which we didnt expect and greatly appreciated (we tipped him graciously) because as cliche and silly as it sounds, the customer is usually right. Customers pay their money and make the choice to visit your restaurant but if its all jacked up with moldy bread and rude/uncivil managers, customers will shout to the roof-tops! Me and my friends will not be returning. Check your bread before you eat and dont expect the white female with dark hair to treat you like the paying customer that you are!

I had high hopes for this place after hearing so many great things but, the customer service here is so awful. Ate here with a group of friends yesterday and one of us in our party had ordered a sandwich that wasnt as expected. We asked nicely if there was anyway that the plate could be exchanged for something else and instead of satisfying an unhappy customer we were told by our waitress that she first needed to speak to someone (presumably her manager) which came as a shock to us. She then returned to the table within a minute or two and told us: "If nothing is wrong with the food then we cant give you a refund or exchange it for anything and you still have to pay for it, Sorry." At that point asking to speak to a manager was pointless because I personally wouldnt want angry bitter people making my food for me but, really guys? As much business as this place gets you would have thought that they could afford to exchange one plate for something that someone would have rather enjoyed. Not to mention it was our first time eating there. Needless to say I personally wont be back as it seems apparent that they dont care.

The food was pretty standard cafe fare and all of it tasted pretty good. The portions were overall pretty generous, as one from my party ordered a plate of chicken fingers from the childrens menu that looked like it could have been a small at other places. My sandwich was a good enough size, but my side was a bit on the small size; it seems that had I ordered fries instead of broccoli for my side, I could have expected a bit more. While I myself did not order a soda, several in my party did and they were pretty massive: they came out with mini pitchers full of the chosen beverage; nobody ordered a refill on the soda because they were so huge in the first place. The inside of the restaurant had a nice, casual atmosphere and our server was helpful and pleasant and overall it was a good place to visit for lunch.

The food was wonderful and I dearly miss eating here after I run my half marathon training team but I am a health nut and so are my followers and when they started charging $2.00 for egg whites me and my team have been going to the NY Deli or River City where they do not charge me additional money to be healthy! I am sorry this rule was put in place but they have lost my business as well as my other friends/clients. I am continuing to spread the word to my clients b/c as a health and wellness company owner I cannot promote places that are unhealthy or make it hard (charging additional fees) to discourage my clients who are trying to eat well, make better choices and are on a budget.

i just got back from picking up my food. Extremely disappointed. Will not ever order carry out here again. its a 3 minutes drive to my house, yet when i got home i had a french onion soup that had the lid melt/flake plastic pieces into my soup, (which they placed 2 unstable cups of soup into a bag..... I tried the mozzarella balls which were not hot, but nuke warm with rubbery cheese in a room temperature fried shell they were disgusting. Not as i remember when i ate at the restaurant. seriouslly the only reason i can see it wouldnt be hot is that it took the bartender 10-15 minutes to finally get to me as he had 3 drinks to make.....

What a fun place near VCU campus. We were looking for something quick, and we found it. We lucked out on finding parking on the street (which was only $1.25 for an hour) and sat ourselves inside. The seats could stand to be reupholstered and its a tight space, but it wasnt a bother. Our waiter was very nice, and we ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich and a grilled chicken sandwich called "The Joshua." I especially liked my grilled chicken sandwich! Once we were done they got us paid up quickly, which was awesome because we had a lot to do that day. We were there for about a half hour tops! Efficient and yummy.

We were in Richmond for an AAU tournament and I was referred here by some nice young ladies at the Smoothie King. We had Sunday lunch there. The atmosphere and decor had a great collegiate feel along with historical Richmond photos. We were seated fast and it was a full house. I had the meatloaf my wife had a homemade burger and my son the BBQ sandwich. The portions were huge and delicious and HOT! If you are in Richmond and want great food at awesome prices come here you wont be disappointed.

Stopped at the place while driving to visit family in South Carolina. Was quickly seated by friendly staff. Food was hot, fresh, well prepared, servings were huge. The Onion Rings were fresh, not frozen, the nachos were to die for, and to leave without one of their milkshakes would be a sin. Enjoyed our visit so much that we came back on our drive back up to New Jersey. This has permanently made it to our "must stop" list when traveling on I-95.

I lived just a block away from the Village for 3 years and have eaten there more times than I can count. I absolutely love this place! The food is great, the service is always wonderful, and the atmosphere is quintessentially Richmond. The breakfast food is my favorite, and its served all day! Next time youre in Richmond and craving a fantastic diner experience, I would highly recommend stopping by the Village Cafe!

This restaurant should win an award for Most Overrated Restaurant. My peers gush on and on about how this food is to die for, when in reality it is nothing special. It isnt bad but it is about as ordinary as can be. Clientele consists largely of obnoxious, foul mouthed frat boy types during peak hours. Anyone over the age of 25 would find the atmosphere to be pretty distasteful, unless it is during off hours.
