Wish there was a rating for just plain POOR!! The sailor sandwich was awful!!! very skimpy rueben with a low grade hot dog sliced in half... plus they charge top price for their skimpy sandwiches. The waitress was awful... there were some great seats by the window but the waitress said it was closed for the day since it was 1:20. The internet says they are open until 3pm. Instead, she sat us next to a drafty door and noisy kitchen. We were with our son and that place left a bad taste in my mouth and ruined a rare occasion to have lunch while our son while he was on break from school. Our bill was over $30.00 for 3 skimpy, bad sandwiches and 2 soft drinks. BTW... stay away from the lemonade!

Went in hoping to use the restroom and grab a hot drink to go, turns out they dont normally do drinks to go on a Sunday, but the gentleman at the door was kind enough to make an exception. I came out of the bathroom and a giant cup of coffee was waiting for me. I cant comment on the food, but I was blown away by how friendly and efficient the staff are. Will definitely be coming back to check out the food! Update: Went back to try the food, it was amazing! We had a different server but she was also really cheerful and efficient. Couldnt have hoped for a better breakfast or better service. Will definitely be back!

I really want to like this place... but its really just a diner with typical diner food. Their breakfast menu looked great and I think I would have enjoyed my visit a lot more if we had gotten there for breakfast instead of lunch. I ordered a tuna salad sub, fries, and i got my fiancé a Rueben and praline milkshake. There wasnt very much tuna on the sub, it had no seasoning to it, the Rueben was boring and just on regular whitebread, and the milkshake did not have any nutty taste to it. Its 3 stars for food but i took another star off because the service, although good, was really slow.

The food was good, I wouldnt say it was the most amazing meal Ive ever had but it was definitely good! What made our experience was the staff - friendly and attentive. The manager came out and greeted us on the patio a couple of times to make sure we had everything we needed which is always a plus! The location is tucked away, but parking was easy to find and the atmosphere was great! I definitely plan to revisit and have and will continue to recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

This historical family owned restaurant is FABULOUS. I used to go as a kid and I am so far from being a kid now, its not funny! Their menu is food from their own farm! I went with my brother after an Elvis concert in my 30s and both brothers and I had a reunion meal this August. We always have a laughing good time with the owner and the good is good ole diner fare. Except you know where it comes from. LOVE this place!

Very disappointing... I am a regular at the Dairy Bar and have spent many Sundays there. I came in today as a single and was told I couldnt sit at the bar(saving them a table) and that they dont do to go orders either. The service there is normally inconsistent at best anyway and the owner is grumpy most of the time but the food is good and the prices are excellent. Not sure its worth the effort on the weekend...

The staff was very rude to my family. I brought my kids for ice cream, but they said we could only get it to go because they closed in 20 minutes. Im not taking ice cream back to my house all melted. 20 minutes is enough time to serve us ice cream and let us eat it. If they wanted to close at 230 instead of 3, thats what they should advertise.

Easily the best breakfast/lunch place in the city. I havent had a bad meal; everything is delicious! Its a straightforward diner, thay makes you keep coming back. The service is top notch, and the prices wont break your wallet. Theres never a long wait on the weekend.

Great diner breakfast with some unique choices, like the breakfast that comes with the peanut butter and chocolate shake (no substitutions). Good food, quality ingredients, fast, friendly service and reasonable prices. What more could you want in a breakfast place.

Amazing, friendly, fast, exceptional service. Typical diner fare with a huge selection of ice creams, sundaes, splits, malts, and shakes added on top. Food was delicious and the ice cream sundae was great. Love the cozy interior decorating in everything cow!

The food is bland and over priced. But the worst part is the way the micromanaging owners yell at staff while I am trying to enjoy my meal. Instead of support a slaking old charm, check out Joes Inn, Kuba Kuba on Sundays and Pearlys.

Probably one of the top 5 worst breakfasts/experiences. Staff not outgoing or friendly, coffee burnt, and homefries are prefab out of a bag. Not a single employee I encountered smiled. Now I know why I havent been here in years.

Absolutely outstanding food and service. Waiters are nice and willing to help in any way. Burgers are incredible angus that are tasty. Crab cakes are good as well. Will def be back and be recommending this place to friends.

This place is bunk and ugly... Not to mention doesnt even serve breakfast all day... Go to Mcleans, right around the corner on Broad Street. Breakfast all-day and the service and food are excellent!!!

One of my favorite brunch spots in Richmond! The breakfast food here is amazing and the milkshakes are great (and giant, good to share with a friend). Good location as its walkable from the fan.

Its a Richmond institution. The cheeseburger was good, the patty melt was very good, but the peanut butter milk shake was excellent. Great place to get some stick to your ribs food.

Nothing and I mean nothing to write home about. Food is bland and overpriced. I now know why this place has been kept a secret. I wouldnt want anyone to know either!

The dairy bar is super cool, cheap, homey, and good. Cant beat the price or the breakfast food selection. Its like the classy, local version of Shoneys!
