Went to The Green Onion for brunch this afternoon. My friend and I were in high hopes because it was a beautiful day and we were waiting for outdoor seating. I ordered a giner ale and my friend ordered a diet coke. Both were flat. Our waitress was all over the place so we ended up telling the host our problem. He checked on it but the new soda he provided was also flat. We opted for just waters with lemon. We both ordered the scramble with modifications. I ordered mine with spinach instead of onion, my friend had his with mushrooms plus a side of cheese grits. My scramble was very runny; the egg sat in a pool of liquid. I salvaged what I could and ate that on the english muffin along with the bacon provided. One good thing was the bacon. They give you about 4 to 5 strips. Our waitress forgot the side order of cheese grits and had to be reminded about it and it ended up coming out after the scramble was finished. The host waited on us more than our actaul waitress. When I told our waitress about my runny eggs she made it seem as though I shouldnt have ordered it with spinach if I didnt want the resulting moisture. (I have made scrambles containing spinach at home that were 10x better than this slop.) I asked to speak to the manager and it just so happens our waitress claimed to be the manager but then she said all the wait staff were able to assist with any problem that may arise. We are skeptical as to if she is actaully the manager. She quickly offered to take 50% off of our bill. Overall it was a poor dining experience, from our waitress to our food. I would not recommend it nor will I be going back.

Maybe part of the disappointment is my fault--I thought this was supposed to be more of an upscale place to have brunch, so my expectations were let down from the start. My husband and I went in for brunch on a Saturday, and were immediately sat at a terrible table--in a corner against the wall and the window, with pots and pans jutting out at you, and one person staring straight at the people at another table through the glass. This is the first time in my life Ive ever asked for a different table. Service was disappointing--the waitress kept asking us to repeat things every time we ordered something. (Example: Waitress: "What can I get you to drink?" Me: "Ill have hot tea." Husband: "Ill have coffee." Waitress (to me):" What did you want again?" Me: "Hot tea." Waitress (to Husband): "And what was your order? I already forgot.") This happened every time we ordered something. The atmosphere was dimly lit. I think it was supposed to be romantic, but it came off as grungy. This could be because, when we got there, the table next to us spilled a glass of water. The water went uncleaned the whole time we were there--a waitress just threw a couple of bar towels on top of it and left. The food was okay. I got pancakes and pommes frites (the pancakes come with bacon, but Im a veggie). The pommes frites were tasty, but the pancakes were heavy and weirdly off, like they forgot to add an ingredient. My husband loved his egg scramble and fruit, though. All in all, not worth the prices--I wish wed saved our money and gone to the Donut Dinnette instead.

This is a late review that should have posted around 3 months ago. The first time my husband and I tried the Green Onion, we were very happy. We sat outside and were able to do some people watching before our meal came. I ordered the ratatouille and hubby had the steak frites. I enjoyed my meal immensely and he had no complaints. We enjoyed it so much, we came back a second time. This place is a hit or miss. This time, they missed. I ordered the ratatouille again and my husband ordered a different steak dinner (I believe it wss ribeye) with veggies. My meal was awful, instead of cutting the eggplant in slices, they cut it lengthwise and made the ratatouille with the skin side of the eggplant! It was dry with a small amount of cheese. I took a bite and had to spit out the eggplant discreetly into a napkin. Tried another bite and had the same issue. I had to send it back. I asked the waitress if they made some changes in the kitchen and she said no. Because they cooked everything from scratch, I decided not to order anything else and shared my husbands meal. I asked for Worcestershire sauce. The waitress gave me some sort of brown liquid, I informed her that this was not Worcestershire sauce and she informed me that was what the bottle said. I stopped eating at this point. She later came back and said that the cook had put brown sauce in the bottle and she did not know that. I wonder what I just had? Nevermind, I dont want to know. We have not been back since.

I had high hopes for my first visit, considering the excellent reviews across multiple sites. When I first walked up, I liked the quaint, cafe look of the outside seating area. The weather was nice, so it was a perfect spot to grab some lunch. The lunch menu was pretty uninspiring. It had a standard selection of sandwiches, soups, and a few entrees. Nothing stood out as unique, and even the descriptions werent particularly appealing. I tried to order the grilled chicken salad, but was told they were out of chicken. Not a good start. I then opted for turkey reuben and a bowl of tomato bisque soup. The sandwich was OK, although I felt the addition of jalepenos was odd. The tomato bisque soup was not very good at all. There was too much sweetness, which was unwelcome as I expected my soup to be savory. I did however enjoy the addition of cheese cubes. It added a pretty nice twist. Service was friendly, and overall the food wasnt bad, it just wasnt great.

Its sad when one has to witness an entire staff sniping at each other in front of customers. I used to enjoy inviting my friends to have brunch with me at The Green Onion. But last Sunday (8/8/10) was just plain sad. The Chef on Duty was slamming utensils around the OPEN kitchen, while one of the severs was complaining to another server in full voice. It was disturbing and uncomfortable for my friends. The food was over cooked for three of my friends and myself. And one of my company received her food with great delay. Iwas ashamed, because I have not expeirenced that before at The Green Onion. The saving grace was our server. I will think twice about making resevations again.

My family and I walk in and they asked if we had a reservation. I said no and they said "we are full right now and can not seat you." I looked around the restaurant and saw several open tables including a few outside. The hostess said "well" and just looked around for a minute and didnt say anything else. I looked at him and he still didnt say anything after saying "well" so we just walked out. After we left my wife said they were rude and should not have treated you like that. Oh well went around the corner to No Frill and had a 5 star meal. No Frill was packed with people and we still got seated right away no wait.
